The reason we would not stay here again is because once you have been to this area for a week there is no reason to go again

However all inclusive is meals and most drinks - the food was fine, varied and hot. The restaurant staff excellent - glasses refilled without asking - same in bars

The hotel was clean. Our room sheets were changed daily and the room was very spacious and well located
lovely lounges and indoor pool and gym.

The hotel location is remote, definitely hotel based holiday

The staff were all polite and helpful to us, as we were to them - it works both ways

The entertainment was not to our taste - but we don't like to be organised

Staff and traders will approach you to sell their wares, but a polite 'no thank you' was enough and we were not pestered in any way

For those whinging about 5 star hotels - remember what you paid for the trip - ours was under

I've never had experience of a 5* hotel, and so I can only guess that Le Meridien would disappoint those who have - I on the other hand thought it was lovely. Our rooms were a bit shabby - but very spacious, the attendant was very friendly and attentive - I would recommend opting for a lagoon room if I were you.

The hotel is in a great position in Makadi Bay with the marina very close by, we enjoyed hours of amazing snorkelling on the reef just off the beach, I've never done it before and really, really loved it (tip - buy your snorkel before you go in the hotel shop I paid

Our overall review of this hotel is that it is ok.

The thing to bear in mind is that it is in Egypt. This was our first time there and I suspect that all the 5 star hotels are pretty much the same, doing the best they can with what they've got. In future we would rather pay a little bit extra and go to the Caribean.

The food was ok, toward the end of the week you got a bit tired of the Aladin food (at some meals i only had bread and butter). The pizzas from the Italian were good value as was Prince Karims restaurant. It is necessary to sign for all drinks even though you are all inclusive as some guests are not. We didn't drink a huge amount but when you order spirits the bar satff are generous, the glasses are a bit small though. Bottled water was included in the AI.

We went for the snorkelling and the house reefs did not disappoint. We saw lots of fish, reef rays and a 2 metre eel off the hotel beach. We think it was a moray eel, it was living in the house reef and was magnificent. We went on a half day snorkelling trip which was well worth it as the reefs further out had lots more fish. Not necessarily more variety but a greater number.

It was 34 degrees everyday.

Transfers weren't included and we got a taxi from the airport (30kms) for

This is a large hotel, with sea views from the main building, the Dune rooms are set into the hillside behind the main without sea views.

The rooms are large and are very clean, with excellent service. We were on the third floor and had to move rooms once due to huge gusts of wind blowing down the corridor off the sea, followed by large banging noises, once we had moved everything was fine.

You are each given a towel card which entitles you to a fresh clean beach towel every day. The pool is huge, with plenty of shades and sunbeds, which were never full during our holiday. The beach is very clean and gently sloping into the crystal clear water, excellent for snorkelling, again there are lots of free sunbeds and shades.

The choice of food for all inclusive guest is good, plenty of choice, fresh pasta is very good. The food is obviously not piping hot due to the buffet style, but it is warm enough.

The resort is a bit remote, so you are really limited to the hotel's entertainment, or a trip into Hurghada. Of the two, you're probably better off going into town because the hotel's entertainment is lame, and not aimed at the British. Drinks are served promptly in the restaurant, but getting served outside in the Docker's bar takes longer, and the drinks come in small glasses, which disappear quickly, so best re-order as soon as you have your drinks brought to you.

My only real gripe is the constant hassle from the staff from Prince Karim's restaurant, every meal you go to you will be asked if you want to spend 10 euros each for a meal, they keep asking even after you have told them that you are not interested. If you are with Panorama I would recommend going for the quiz on Mondays and the 1/2 day boat trip to go snorkelling.

All said, not what I expected from a 5 star all-inclusive, but not so bad that I wouldn't go there again.

We stayed half poard which was sufficient for our needs as there are plenty of eating places within the complex where you could buy light meals which were in expensive.
Hotel was maintained to a good standard especially the rooms.

Hotel had enough bars and restraunts within the complex, so that you didn't need to go outside, however if you wanted to go to the Makadi centre which was a 10 min walk you would find only a handful of bars and restraunts all of which were owned by the other hotels.

Few shops.

Staff were always polite and friendly.

We never saw any on site entertainment however a man played the organ in the reception area. Thre were plenty of organised activities such as volley ball, aerobics etc.
One point to mention about the hotel; Food , drinks and other purchases are put on your bill for you to pay when you check out of the hotel.

The hotel doesnt take Egyptian pounds only dollars, sterling , euro or credit cards when you do check out. A 2% tax is added to any purchases added to your bill.
Some of the accomodation can be a good walk from the beach and is also on different ground levels.

However a small train is regularly used to transport you around the resort.

We as a family were very disappointed with this very expensive holiday. It really is not five star, comparing it to our experience of five star and that of family and friends. We have friends that have just returned from another five star hotel in Egypt and they are shocked by what we are telling them.

We booked all inclusive as we were on a budget, but the hotel took every opportunity to get you to spend money, so make sure you take enough to pay your bill at the end.

There were loads of hidden extras i.e. games (

When I hear people saying that the Le meridien, Makadi bay resort is not very good, I feel angry. I visited in March, the sun was terrific, beautiful weather you couldn't go anywhere with better weather than Egypt!

Le meridien has friendly and hard working staff, they are truly magnificent! I never wanted to leave it was the best holiday ever.

They came into your room to clean every day and the standard was high. You would not believe how much there is to do there. You can lie on the beach, a massive outdoor pool (a bit cold but funny to try and get in! Its doable though) The location was my favourite. The sea was warm and crystal clear the sand was literally white! No bugs at all! I was surprised by that one seen as i get freaked out by wasps or ants!

There is an indoor swimming pool which unfortunately I did not get chance to swim in as I was too busy lying in the boiling sun, but was heated and was an impressive size. There was probably a sauna there too, a range of beauty treatments you could have done there, luxury eh?!!! There are bars everywhere serving all kinds of alcohol ranging from champagne to beer to alcopops!

The food - marvellous! So much choice! You would not believe it. We all ate in the Aladdin restaurant, my child doesn't eat much but we ordered her some pizza and chips! Happy days for her then!! It was a buffet style restaurant meaning you could just get up and put on your plate anything you like!

There is also a club/disco you can go to for all you party animals, you won't be disappointed! Your young child can go to the kids group type thing they hold there too, mine loved it and made a friend, which was a bonus as i didn't want to have the stress of her glued to my side all holiday!

There's a gym too if you like to keep yourself in shape!

The reception was impressive, quick service, and all around you was a spiral staircase spacious and beautiful with all the marble, breathtaking. T

he staff are happy to help you with anything and the best part about it is that they try their very best all the time! I found this cool.

This hotel is by far the best hotel I have stayed in.

My kids enjoyed the terrific pool (which I have to say is soo big!) while me and my wife lay back and relaxed in the warm atmosphere.

The hotel staff were great and were happy to help with any concerns

The entertainment was fine, there is something for everyone if you want it.

The location was brilliant, the sea was crystal clear (the sand burnt my feet!!)

The food was great the Italian restaurant is ideal for children
