The food was of a very low quality and the service was a shambles. The staff generally tried to hinder you always quoting bizarre regulations to stop you from booking certain facilities. The hotel is also based a long distance from Naama bay. The room was quite nice it was really just the food, service and entertainment that were bad. We spent as much time away from the hotel as possible. The entertainment was provided for the large number of russians who stay at the hotel so wasn't really for us. I would advise staying at a hotel close to naama bay to avoid having to use the taxi's and to go bed and breakfast as there are numerous very cheap restaurants in naama bay which serve good quality food. The diving and snorkelling all over naama is fantastic.

I fully concur with the previous report on this hotel and can honstly say it must be one of the worst I have stayed in yet. The room had a lovely view over the sea and was kept clean daily. SAGA were well organised in meeting us and the rep worked hard to make our stay pleasant, sadly he fights a losing battle in that hotel.
The hotel boasts 5 "international restaurants" and all guests staying at Pyramissa are on an "all inclusive " basis.Of those restaurants, one is supposedly Chinese and the other Russian. A supplement is payable on certain meals in them. Its a waste of time using them as they are not genuine nationality restaurants and service is poor. The other three restaurants serve identical meals which consist of a salad bar, a lukewarm buffet and a dessert bar. Our first and last meal (we caught food poisoning on day one)consisted of choices of: chicken wings, a beef type stew, pasta, slices of fish fried in flour and tepid vegetables. This menu was served at lunchtimes and evenings in each of the three restaurants for the whole week we stayed and did not change. McDonald's in Naama bay did a roaring trade!! It is not suprisng that at least 8 SAGA guests suffered gastric upsets 3 of which required the attention of a Doctor.
The cleanliness of the restaurants left a lot to be desired, however the staff tried hard to please and were very friendly.
To get a sun bed by the pool or on one of the 4 private beaches required you to get up at 6-30am to place your towels, as the mainly Russian guests (occupying about three quarters of the hotel) commandeer nearly all of the sun beds, and I mean commandeer!!including the one you have reserved if there are not enough to go around, throwing your towels aside. I spoke to the duty manager and asked why there was a shortage of sunbeds and umbrellas. He seemed satisfed that the 250 sunbeds the hotel had to accommodate the residents of 720 rooms, which numbered about 1250, was enough-it was a joke and left many guests having to try to sit out on the poolside borders in temperatures of nearly 40 degrees.
I could perhaps continue, but feel enough has been said to provide a picture of this hotel which although classed as 5 star, is still aspiring to bring itself up to the standards of of a 3 star. A ruined holiday by a poor quality hotel, which has litle idea on what standards british guests expect from a hotel with a 5 star rating. My wife and I are experienced world -wide travellers who have seen the rough with the smooth. But in this case, had I been able to get a schedule flight out of there, I would have before the end of my holiday.

Agree with Williams Turville's report - it is all about expectation. We paid

I thought some of the comments posted were a little harsh - I would suspect that many of the reviewers were first timers to Egypt. Otherwise they would have found out that 5 star Egyptian nearly always equates to 3 star in many other countries.
Also hotel staff in this part of the world tend to range from the cheerfully inefficient to the the wilfully incompetent!
Food standards rarely rise above the mediocre - in fact we found the food at the buffet restaurants above average for Egypt, the the desserts as usual were best avoided.
On the plus side, despite being all inclusive the beer and wine on offer was the best available Egyptian varieties - not spectacular but quite drinkable. The local spirits though are pretty poor and the bar staff haven't a clue about cocktails. On the minus side, the frustratingly time consuming rigmarole reequired to get a drink drove us mad.
We thought the location was great, but then we didn't have much interest in going in to Sharm itself, so the remote location of Shark's Bay was fine and the coral is in much better condition there which was our main concern.
In short, I think it's a case of expectations - if some body knows of a genuine 5 star all inclusive with terrific snorkelling, wonderful food and efficient staff for under
