The hotel staff can't do enough for you, we did tip but felt that this was not necessary all the time. we can not wait to go back,we made some good friends.

The hotel complex is huge, and the grounds are beautifully kept and well laid out, although it can be difficult to find your way around at first.
We had a junior suite which was spacious and quite comfortable, although a kettle would have been handy. Our bathroom was absoutely infested with ants, for which the hotel provided a can of Raid. This was not entirely effective, and nor was our loo, although to be fair the hotel did send someone to fix it.
Cleaning was basic to say the least, and no towel art here. Sheets were changed but not much else was done each day.
I didn't see much evidence of cleaning throughout he hotel during my stay, and never once saw any table being wiped down.
The hotel lacks toilet facilities for the number of guests, and for 3 days of our week the toilets at the bars and restaurants in the main building were out of action - great news at lunch time. Despite the out of order signs, people continued to use the toilets with the inevitable deeply unpleasant results.
The dining experience here is truly awful. The main restaurant is huge and the buffet selection was unappetising to say the least. Liver featured regularly, and there were strange jars of pink pickled vegetables. The soup was ok, and the selection of bread was nice - as this consituted my diet for the week I became an expert on the choice of rolls.
Spoons were a luxury here - if you saw one you grabbed it because they were such a rare sight. I even saw spoons being removed from Engilsh guests because "they are needed for Russian guests" (the waiter's words).
Bowls and cups were also in short supply, and tables were dirty and either cleared while you were still eating or not cleared at all.
You can book to eat at the other 2 restuarants on the comlex - Fatima's is an oriental restaurant serving middle eastern cuisine and there is an Italian restaurant.
Fatima's has a lovely situation by the sea, but due to being outside is overrun with birds and flies during the day. We tried breakfast here once and it was worse than the main restaurant - lukewarm water to make your cup of tea in a tiny plastic cup, and at lunchtime the serving spoons for the main dishes were covered in little birds pecking at the food. Needless to say we did not try lunch there, but we did have dinner.
The food was less than average here, and when they bring your main course - in our case chicken skewers and a mixed grill, they bring it in a kind of mini barbecue which belches smoke and renders the food burnt and inedible. All this is accompanied by very loud music from the two man Egyptian band whose repertoire of tuneless dirges includes the birdie song and the floral dance. The wine was palatable here, in contrast to the tiny glasses of petrol served in the main restaurant.
The Italian restaurant was fantastic!!!!!! They had plenty of spoons(!), lovely food and good wine served in wine glasses which was a real novelty. If you go to this hotel, try and book to eat here every night of your stay.
You can eat lunch outside at a grill near the main restaurant. If you like burgers, hot dogs and chips, this is the place for you, but you will be lucky to actually get anything because the food runs out constantly. Do not leave your table with food on it here even for a moment - the birds will descend again, and you will find your plate covered on your return - pigeons and sparrows are in force here.
The drinks are simply undrinkable. I know because I gave most of them a try - desperate to find something palatable. Poor selection of "cocktails" which are not worth trying at all. The beer is cold -if it hasn't run out (something which happened frequently).
You cannot get bottles of water here - there are water dispensers dotted about, but - suprise, surprise they are usually empty.
If you can, make sure international brands are included in your AI deal - we didn't, and nor did we bribe the barmen (as others did)to get these.
Now, something a little more positive!
The 4 pools offer something different for everyone, and there was no problem for us in getting a sunbed at any pool at any time of the day.
Only one pool was heated, but it was busy and noisy so we chose to spend our days by the quiet adults only pool which was very nice, but far from any loos or bars. The pool guy made sure that kids stayed out, and it was very peaceful. This was the only pool where you were not hassled every 10 minutes to go on a boat trip or spend 90 euros being massaged.
Although it was not heated the water was very pleasant for swimming, and the guests were almost exclusively British.
Other pools had slides and lot of activities, but that's not really our scene, and the music can be very loud and intrusive.
Hotel staff were in the main fairly pleasant, and service was ok, but not great. The great service is reserved for nationalities other than the British who are a tiny minority here. We didn't have any problems with queues but found the service better in the Victoria bar which is inside and a slightly more peasant environment.
The Terrace Bar sounded nice - it wasn't: just a few tables in a corridor beside some shops, and the Hollywood Cafe sounded quite exciting, but was a bare room with bright lighting, what looked like 6 bottles of spirits behnd the bar, and no-one ever in it.
Entertainment was not a disppointment. I thought it would be poor and it lived up to that expectation. A single man and guitar murdering Tom Jones by the main pool every evening was as good as it got. There is an amphitheatre for the main "show" of the evening. The one show I saw there I found offensive and unsuitable for children, but of course it may have improved after the 5 minutes I watched - I just didn't want to stay to find out.
The rep was obsessed with customer feedback questionnaires and her rating - unfortunately we only got this on the plane home. I doubt when they read mine that I will be receiving the holiday voucher prize, but Thomas Cook should train their reps to help guests, rather than obsess about being rated excellent (which didn't happen on my questionaire).
My husband was pretty ill for the last 3 days with stomach problems, and I had a nasty accident which has left me with bruised ribs, but I can honestly say that this has not affected this review. I would never ever go to this hotel again, even if it were free, and would never recommend it to anyone else.
The reef however is fantastic and the snorkelling is superb: however, this is nature, and not somethinhg that the Sunrise group has any control over.
The hotel rating is an absolute mystery to me - I knew it would be nothing like 5 star, but had hoped for something aproaching 4 star. Personally I would rate it as 2 - 3 star. There are much better hotels in Egypt and I would advise anyone to chose one of them.
This holiday was pretty disappointing for us, but we will be back next year to somehwere we know from experience is excellent.

This is a large complex with accommodation on ground floor and first floor level, mainly junior suites which comprises of a large bathroom, toilet, hand basin and an enclosed shower over a bath, I call it a bath but it is not, due to the size, it is quite adequate for the shower but not for bathing.
The bedroom contains double or twin beds, good wardrobe space with free safe, fitted mirror and drawers under, bedside cabinet with bedside light.
Step down to the lounge area with a large settee which converts into a double bed, arm chair, desk with drawers and chair, large coffee table, fridge with two bottles of water free per day and four cans of soft drinks free per week, television with a number of English speaking channels.
Double glazed patio doors to balcony or terrace, with table and two chairs.
Tiled floors throughout, well decorated with wall pictures etc, all in all nice accommodation.
Fully air conditioned.
There are no kettles in the room, so if you are allocated a room further away from the restaurant and you need a cuppa take your own kettle etc.
The complex is well laid out, reception, Victoria bar, Italian restaurant, disco and shopping area are all on the upper level at the head of the complex, steps does to the lower level you will find the two main buffet restaurent. for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Leaving the restaurant you enter a large terrace area, with a number of tables and chairs, so that you can enjoy your meal outside if you wish, also in this area is the pool bar, pizza and barbeque station with chips etc providing snacks at lunch and dinner times.
This leads to pool 1, which is a large lagoon type pool with a swim up bar and figure of eight slide.
Pool 2 is a short walk from pool 1 and is the one where the daily entertainment/music is held, this pool also has a slide which is straight and a childrens pool area.
Pool 3 is again another short walk away and this is the quiet pool, no children are allowed in this pool.
Pool 4 is just prior to the beach, in this area are bars, Fatimas restaurent with steps and slopes leading down to the beach with a bar and a food outlet.
There is a floating pontoon jutting out into the sea, with wonderful marine life.
There are plenty of sunbeds at each of the pools, we never saw or experienced any problems with obtaining a sun bed and there were no back handers given to the pool boy to supply sun beds.
There are a couple of towel stations around the complex, you receive two cards on arrival which you exchange for towels, you can get clean towels whenever.
There is also a health club, fitness centre, medical clinic, childrens club and a amphitheater where the evening entertainment is held.
The whole complex is kept super clean in all areas, pools are kept clean with no problems.
All the staff are fantastic, if you treat them with respect they will then respect you!!!
There were alot of Russion/Eastern European guests at the hotel, on the main they were okay but can be very ignorant, especially to the staff.
You can book Fatima's restaurant as many time as you wish this is also the same of the Italian restaurant which is excellent, get a table on the balcony, if you have a special occasion, let the staff know a few days before, you will get a cake and be serenaded at your table - magic.
All in all we had a fantastic time, no queuing for drinks, meals etc but slight problems in the restaurent with shortage of crockery and cutlery, but the staff did their best.
If we had one complaint it would be against the Thomas Cook representative who seemed full of her own importance and as long a you gave her excellent on the customer feedback form (section 7) you could do no wrong but woe betide you if you gave her anything less that excellent, my experience of travel reps was that they came out of their air conditioned space and socialised with their guests around the pool etc, but NOT her
Go there and enjoy yourself

We had a Junior suite and it was an enormous room, with a separate living area with a sofa, chairs, table and mini-bar. We had a balcony which looked over one of the pools and the housekeeping staff did a fantastic job. There was satilite TV, which showed quite a few English speaking channels.
The resturant served a wide variety of food at every meal.At breakfast they made fresh omelettes, pancakes and waffles, which were absolutely delicous!! It was lovely sitting outside in the early morning sun eating breakfast overlooking the pool.At lunch and dinner there was so much choice and they did fresh pasta exactly how you wanted it. As well as the main resturant, there are 2 other resturants. We ate in Fatima's which served a lovely mixed grill. Snacks are available from the snack bar at poolside. They did the most delicous pizzas and burgers etc. You could also get snacks at the beach bar.
The staff could not do enough for you, they were fantastic and worked so hard. They were so friendly and once they got to know what you were drinking- they kept you well supplied!! In the resturants, the waiters would take your plates from you and carry them to your table and then get your drinks for you.
You had to get in the sea via jetties out into the deeper water, but once you got in, the view underwater was out of this world. It was like swimming in a fish aquarium. I was a bit worried about snorkelling, but I am so glad I did it, we got some lovely pictures of the fish.
There are 4 swimming pools, one of which was heated and was like getting into a warm bath. The others were very cold!! Pool and beach towels are provided - you get a card which you exchange for your towels.
We did not see much of the evening entertainment, as we were happy to sit by the pool bar, but what we did see was quite good.
There are reps who go round selling trips, massages etc. We did a quad biking trip through them which was great fun and good value for money.
I would definately return to this hotel in the future and would recommend it to anyone.

food was superb lots of choice so never got bored, the italian and orriental both you have to book for were delicious, drinks were better than we have had before in egypt and the red wine was lovely like an echo falls red wine which i was surprised about, the staff cannot do enough for you and always with a smile we honestly did not have any complaints about anything they really go that extra mile for you, weather was fantastic only had one cloudy day and the sun still got through, outside the hotel there is a new complex called soho square which is part of the savoy next door and its lovely, shops, restaurants, seating areas, waterfalls and even a british pub showing sky sports called the queen vic!!
I will definatily be returning to this hotel and i never normally go to the same hotel twice! but this is certainly worth a second visit

Our groundfloor room, facing pool 2, was huge. Air con excellent.
Staff were generally excellent. Only time we were pressured for a tip was on arrival from guy who showed you to your room and guy who brought your luggage.

Cleanliness - The hotel was really clean... gardeners and cleaners were constantly at work around the resort. A few times we had a sleep in and thought that our room wouldnt be cleaned that day but the cleaners worked up until teatime and you could arrange with reception if you had a preference as to what time your room was cleaned.
Food - I am a very very fussy eater and so is my partner. I often struggle to find something to eat if I eat out in England but I found that there was always something I could try. There is always white rice, pasta, pizza and chips if you cant find anything else. Always some sort of meat in a sauce to go with your rice which i also enjoyed... had heard horror stories about tummy bugs so tried not to eat too much of the meat and stuck to the sauce mainly. Didnt end up being poorly for the 2 weeks we were there but everytime we touched the money we used an antibacterial hand wash... dont know if this is why we managed not to be ill!
Location - Naama bay is about 15 minutes in a taxi which you can get no problem but they taxi was costing us about
