The resort has everything good bars, plenty of good restaurants especially by the harbour. Your not far from Stalis or Malia if you fancy a different resort.

The resorts of both Stalis and Hersonnosis were very clean with lots of bars and shops. Found a very nice bar with Karaoke at the bottom of the hill from the hotel on the same side of the busy main road. Lots of buggies and mopeds flying about plus speeding taxis. Handy if you didn't want to walk 10 to 15 mins to Stalis or 30 mins to Hersonnisos or spend 8 euros each way in a taxi.
Didn't go on the beach in either resort but did look clean with lots of sunbeds.
Would visit Hersonnisos again but next time read the hotel reviews before booking.

Koutouloufari is brilliant. Fabulous place to wander around stopping in the little bars for a drink or eating in one of the many fine restaurants. Never had a bad meal once & all very reasonably priced.
Traffic shouldnt be there between 7-11 (I think) but unfortunately this isnt enforced which is the only thing that spoils this village.

Hersonissos, where to start, a typical british holiday destination, fish chips, full english but sadly no Watney's Red Barrel, plenty of sports bars which all the brit beers and 10 euro to get off your face type places in my opinion it couldn't be less Greek. Old Hersonissos,Piskopiano, totally different and GREEK, proper tavernas with lovely hospitality and this area I would reccommend.

Hersonissos is a busy resort with plenty of bars and tavernas. lots of cheap shops selling tourist bits and pieces. not a great beach - too many sunbeds on what small strip of sand there is and the sea is too rough for children to swim in.

The town of Piskopiano is clean, a nice little village but there is not much nightlife here.. For an older age group or a family with children its perfect.

Annisarass is a very quiet sleepy resort, it caters mainly for couples and middle aged people, and there is very little for children to do except play on the beach. For us, it was ideal, we wanted pece & quiet and got it. There are just a couple of supermarkets 2 car hire places (a must) and several fully inclusive hotels that cater mainly for Germans Dutch & Italians.
The beach is a lovely 2 mile stretch of golden sand, however the seabed is quite rocky so beach shoes are a must. It is fairly clean, and exceptionally friendly, but for those wanting night life this is not the place to go. There are a couple of very good restaurants further along the beach about a 1km walk in Analipsi, the Tritonas which has food to die for but is probably the most expensive restaurant in Analipsi but has very large portions, and the Posiedon a further 100 yrds along again excellent food and cheaper than Tritonas.
To sum up we wanted a quiet relaxing holiday, and we got exactly that. Crete has become more expensive with Coca Cola at £2 for a small bottle, so we stocked up at the supermarkets at 60 cents a can, my advice shop around, this is a one horse town and has the monopoly on prices.

The resort is quiet but there are enough bars/tavernas to visis with a few shops as well. If you want lively Hersonissos is a 10 minute drive away.
