Most rooms have pool views.
Visit Taverna Odas in the old town and The House on the main strip is brilliant for any time of the day.

The best rooms to stay are typically the ones that are located nearer the strip. Like Nefeli for example. It was 2 minutes from the night life but when you wanted to recover it was also out of the way, sharing a personal swimming pool with neighbouring ho

Make sure you buy or have air conditioning when you go.
A lot of great places and bars to visit within 15mins walking distance. Gets very hot alot of people tend to hire quad bikes to get around.

The resort was great. Every night was a laugh and the bars and clubs were excellent. Great first holiday with mates.
This resort is more a young persons place with loads of loud bars & discos, English & Irish too, but if like us you prefer a quieter holiday go to Stalis which is very near. There are shops & cafes galore & the beach is very clean.
Mad and full of great people!!!! Thank goodness for planet burger I HATE MC D'S!!!!!
Found some great little gifts for friends and family back home in a shop called Attraction (actually I got myself some great stuff too)

Malia beach is clean and the sea was ideal for my 2 children as you could go out far without it getting too deep. Loads of bars, clubs and restaurants to suit everyones tastes.
BEST HOLIDAY OF OUR LIVES!!!! MALIA 06 - MISSED OUT THIS YEAR BUT BRING ON MALIA 08!!!!!!!!!!! X
Malia has that many pubs and clubs you could stay for 6 weeks and not do them all, so this competition meant you could get good deals on drinks, especially if you are cheeky. Check out 'FLARES' bar and V bar next door. The ‘grabbers’ that are employed to coax (or manhandle) you into their pub became very annoying very quickly. We ended up zig zagging up the street just to avoid them but if you drive a hard bargain they will usually give you 2 vodka red bull (not the real stuff) two shots and sometimes a cocktail for 5 euro, don’t pay any more. Ask them if its 2 for one on drinks, a lot are but don’t advertise it. Average price for a draught Amstel or Mythos beer was E3 but shop around, we saw it for 2. If you get chance try the draught Zorba.. nice! Look out for the little dog that chases a laser outside one of the bars. He turns up every night for the whole season!
After the third day we hired a car-we had to get out of Blackpool. I’d forgotten my license but still managed to get a tiny Fiat, out the hotel, turn right 100 metres on the left. They advertise prices of 70 or 80 euros for 3 days but when you go in there are always extras. In this case another E40 for comp insurance, which after reading some horror stories about what happens if you dont take this out, I paid. Not cheap but I did squeeze him to 30 for an extra day.
The beach in Malia was very crowded so there wont be an inch in August. Just up the road Stalis was better, quieter, the presence of Germans told you all you needed to know. Further up the road Hersonissos is really nice, little coves, great swimming and a nudey beach! Sun those buns. Also worth visiting are Agios Nicholas, Elounda and just up the road the idyllic traditional village of Plaka. Drive up the mountain (right onto main road out of Malia towards Heraklion and turn left at Eko petrol station) or 'plateau' to the tiny village of Krassi. Great scenery, a huge tree, the real Greece.
We didn’t eat that much in Malia. We had a breakfast at the Bull Steak house which was good although as usual in Greece the coffee was disgusting. Don’t drink the coffee unless they tell you filtered. The Red Lion served big portions of ‘clean’ food though not cheap. Don’t bother with the Southern Fried Chicken, bit like our KFC i.e. crap. Try the local tavernas if you get out of town. Probably the best meal ever was at the ‘No Stress’ right on the waters edge at Milatos Beach. The squid was delicious and the Zorba ice cold. Around E22 but worth it.
Would I go back to Malia – yes but only if we stayed in the old town. The weather was great, crystal clear warm sea and beautiful scenery if you make the effort to get around. As for the VERGINA APPARTMENTS… not if you paid me!
