The bay is one of the best on the island. The view is quite spectacular with views over to Skoppelos and other islands. There are four tavernas down on the beach , two of which have traditional wood fired pizza ovens. The overall standard of food was good and in the traditional Greek style. Children wre made very welcome.
The beach is very clean.Ideal for kids as it is gently shelving and the water is crystal clear. Watch out for a friendly black dog called Norah, who loves to catch sand in her mouth!
Travellers cheques can be cashed in the hotel Espiredes and there is a paycard telephone there also. A small supermarket next to the hotel sells a good range of Greek specialities as well as English goods.
A bus stop outside the appartments offers a cheap trip around the island, but these do tend to get very busy with no standing room. Plenty of cheap taxis though.

Resort was clean.Locals were very friendly and helpful
It was the start of season so some of the tavernas were not open.
Beach was very clean.
I am planning to return next year.

The resort was also fab but there wasn't any entertainment here in the evening other than tavernas/restaurants.
However, it was very cheap for a taxi for the 5 minute journey into Skiathos town.
The Apollo owners always called a taxi for you and used one firm who they know very well.
The beach was clean, spacious and provided lovely views. Several tavernas serving good food.

Achladies is a quiet resort with a few bars, shops and tavernas, the cosmogate at the top of the road was a regular stop off after our nights out- drinking Tequila till the early hours with the owner and local taverna waiters. Most evenings we went into town to eat though we did go at least once to all the local tavernas, theres just so much choice in the town everything from indian to chinese to gyros walking down the road. Lots of lovely bars- rock and roll bar on the marina front- half price cocktails which were the best i have ever tasted in my life.
The island itself is very lush and green, we hired a jeep for 2 days and that was ample to see everything we wanted to from the dog walking to visting the monks in the monastery of the annunciation of the virgin well worth a look (its on the airport side of the island) stunning is all i can say to describe it.
Beach lover? Skiathos has some truly amazing beaches Banana was our best- but dont go with the kids (the little one is a nudist beach but it does spill over to the big one!!) but all were fantastic.
We took a boat ride around the island (18e) which took us to 4 beaches that you cant get to by road, Lalaria which is a pebble beach was amazing, the locals call it the eighth wonder of the world and whilst it was not the best for sunbathing i actually had to agree!! we visted two more after that both amazing. The boat stopped for lunch on the third, and then took us over to (its name escapes me) the island that The Beatles tried to buy in the 60's (Sorry?!?) which if you go remember to take mozzie spray, as its not lived on and they are starving and its almost dusk - nightmare. Alex at bus stop no 10 shop had some stuff gel that took the sting away and stopped the itching (magic man!) which just about sums up the people of Skiathos very warm and friendly.
This was a fantastic holiday and i would recommend Skiathos, Achladies and Filokalia to anyone
