the rooms are cleaned daily and we have never had any problems with staff they have all been helpful.
we did not eaten in the hotel very much mainly on gala nights and occasional breakfast nothing to write home about just avarage.
hotel is located in a lovely setting best in apora and staff could not be more helpful.
the only major problem we found was people putting towels on sunbeds sometimes as early as 6am there would be lots of beds with towels on all day which is very annoying it resulted in us having to spend most of our time at the beach i think the hotel should start monitoring this and nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand as it is a very selfish trait of some people,
will be visiting again next year

I have given the food a 5 rating. I don't want to mislead people we didn't eat in the hotel except for the Gala night on New Years Eve and I have given it 5 purely for that reason. The food was excellent. Many different dishes and all delicious including the chocolate deserts.
Breakfast usual toast, coffee and eggs. Adequate but unfortunately the breakfast area I feel is what lets this hotel down. I had the feeling of being in a canteen, it's an old tennis court with a metal cage construction around it. Not ideal, however on the odd occassion that we went for breakfast we never had a problem finding a clean table as the staff work very hard clearing and cleaning tables. We did drink at the bar most nights on our way out for the evenng or on our way back for a night cap and did not find the prices to be over the top, certainly more than outside in the resort but I've always found that's usually the case wherever you go.
I've always felt extremely safe in Goa but one thing that was very reassuring about this hotel, the grounds are quite extensive and the annex is some way from reception, security guards were spaced at regular intervals checking the area and although there was no trouble there it was reassuring to know they were there.

The official rating is 2 star but I think it merits 3. I can understand why people return year after year if that's what you do.
The breakfast was excellent. Freshly cooked eggs and omelettes, juice , DIY toast and good coffee is all we need but there was always cornflakes, porridge, B beans and an Indian style breakfast dish. A substantial fruit platter available for R75. Eating in the bird cage was a little odd to begin with but it grows on you !
The rooms were spacious and light ( new block) but for some the walk from reception was an issue.... must be 2-300 metres to the far end ! Nice and quiet though. The cleaning staff were spot on too.
Two pools are well maintained and pleasant and there were always sun beds available so why people leave towels on them before vanishing for half the day is beyond me.
Internet access is available at R30 for 30 minutes, but with only one computer available you have to time it right.
The hotel is within walking distance of Arpora village and some good eating places but for those who want to go to Calangute or Baga you need to consider the R100-150 taxi fare each way. The hotel lays on an hourly bus but that only operates on the hour between 9am-6pm. It's walkable to Baga in about 30 minutes and there is a good riverside bar half way !!
If I have to find fault ( bearing in mind this is a budget option hotel) it would be that the shower water temperature could be very varied and sometimes only tepid at best.

The good things...
Nice setting and very picturesque
Good basic rooms for the price
Air conditioning that actually works
Good fishing on the lakes
Relaxing atmosphere
The bad things ...
A massive price hike on last year and totaly unjustifiable
Restaurant deteriated even further than previous year
We tried just one meal and it was total garbage
We dined alone as across the way there was a sizzler night on, nevertheless the service or lack of it was appaling.
We had to beg for a menu and light the candle on the table ourselves.
Had to put up with the waiter dragging tables around us throughout the meal to acommodate the band for later on who were playing by the lake.
Dirty filthy linen on table
Soup to die for literally
Horrible main course
Breakfast was the usual complimentary affair
Do yourseves a favour and have an extra hour in bed
Not worth getting up for
To term it as Unedible mush is being polite.
Now for the attitude of some of Marinha staff
Lady mugged on dangerous unlit road outside and obviously in distress and all staff did was hastle for 1500rupees for lock change and new key.
"Not to wory though madam as you can claim on your insurance" they said
Isolated location of marinha is getting very scary and would reccomend overpriced taxis at all times
Road to alfresco and saffron and all spice from the marinha is a minefield of thieves and robbers all out for tourist blood.
Five reported incidents in 1 month alone.
Local lad who lives on this road close to m dourada says he advises everyone to take exreme care and is at times he said ashamed to be goan
He work nearbye at the sun village resort.
Also the blatent rip of mentality of some of the staff ( not all )
Prices are allready up by at least 25%
Bacardi breezers chaged at 95r but change never given from 100r which was done throughout holiday.
Bill for 192 r then just simply take 200r without asking,so on and so on
Very Small amounts I know but it is the principle.
Do not assume the money is your to just take but kindly wait for it to be tipped.
Massive thumbs down from last year
