The inside of the bath had been painted with emulsion paint, this came off when you had a shower and stuck to the bottom of your foot. The hotel towels were frayed and had a smell to them..we didn't use them!

We had to request for the floors to be cleaned, they don't get cleaned everyday as you would expect them to be. one of our kids spilt hot chocolate on the bed linen three days into our stay, these were not changed during the whole seven days we were there!!!! That in itself is unacceptable.

The pillowcases looked dirty and had slight stains on them, we wrapped pashminas around the pillows and slept on them.

On the last day there was no hot water, nothing came out of the taps!

The only window in the bathroom opened out onto what smelt like sewers! It was so strong we kept the window closed throughout our stay.

The corridor smelt of sewers too, they also had windows that opend out onto some kind of shaft. To try and combat the strong smell we noticed that toilet air freshners had been placed near the windows! They didnt help.

The location is really good, its in an excellent place. we were close to the bars, local shops and restaurants and the sea front.

Hotel staff in our opinion were not helpful, our two kids needed the toilet, the first toilet had no toilet paper so I reported it to reception who then attempted to contact housekeeping. The receptionist told me there was no one around and I should go into the mens toilets to get some toilet paper...no toilet paper to be found in there either. We walked to another set of toilets and there was no toilet paper in there either!! We did this for 15 minutes before getting any joy.

I dragged our two kids to three different toilets around the hotel before finding one that had toilet paper in it. No apology. No sympathy for the two kids!! Disgusting in my opinion.

On day three of our stay we placed the 'do not disturb' sign on the door knob when we left the room. when we returned that evening we foun the sign was inside the room on the dresser!! If the maids had been in you'd expect the sheets to be changed, the bins emptied, towels replaced and some toilet paper, but none of this had been touched...later on that evening we found that a few of our personal items were missing! This was reported to the manager on duty at the time. Again not very helpful.

The food was appauling. Breakfast consisited of a mixture of continental and full English. Tea and coffee, pineapple juice and orange squash, not fresh orange juice but orange squash!! Who has orange squash for breakfast?? We certainly don't! The muesli tasted stale and there was no hot milk for the kids. The only decent thing for breakfast was toast.

There seemed to be a wide selelctio for dinner when we looked at the menu but after two days of trying to find something to feed the kids and ourselves we gave up and resorted to dinner at one of the local restaurants. The menue's not very appetising to say the least. It looked greasy, under cooked and in some cases over-cooked. If you like feeding your kids chips and gravy everyday then you're fine.

In terms of entertainment we weren't really interested in what was being offered.

We travelled with British Jet, the airline owned by the owners of the Palm Court Hotel. The flight was on time, the cabin crew were excellent, the food was of a high standard and the aircraft was clean and appeared to be in good shape. (MD90 for the aviation buffs)

We were met at Luqa airport by a very efficient tour guide and directed to an air conditioned coach which took as efficiently to the Palm Court Hotel. . . .and that is where our troubles started.

We arrived rather late in the evening and after dumping our cases in our room went down to "Dinner" in the "Restaurant" (rather like an old military canteen) the food was inedible but I put that down to being at the tail end of dinner.

The airconditioning in the room did not work and it had evidently been a hot day as the room was hot and very stuffy. I walked down three flights of stairs to the lobby and told the staff on duty that my airconditioning was not working and by the looks of it had not done so for some time. They were totally disinterested and mumbled something about fixing it tomorrow and there were no other rooms so we could not be moved.

It was late so I reluctantly agreed to wait until the next day but asked if we could have an additional fan as the ceiling fan did not work so well. On returning to our room a knock came upon the door and a young man arrived with a fan, well I think it had been a fan at some time in it's life but I would have been embarrassed to take it to the tip!! It was old, decrepid and only worked on one speed and did not move in the lateral plane as it should have. Never mind it was better than nothing, but only just.

That night was hot and clammy and none of us slept very well. In the morning my wife asked me to look at her bed as it felt as though there was some kind of sand or little bits all over the sheets. Sure enough the bed was full of little "sand like" particles. Upon inspection I noted a large gap of plaster missing from the ceiling above her bed and I guessed that during the night as the ceiling fan was old and out of balance it had vibrated the ceiling just enough to make small particles of the original decaying concrete mix drop all over my wife's bed.

Breakfast was poor - cheap fatty bacon, beans even the "Legion Etranger" would not serve, poached eggs that a 3 year old had tried to cook and what tasted like "ex WD powered scramble egg". The only thing worth eating was the toast but as one had to queue for around 10 minutes just to get a go at making toast (yes total self service here!) it was HORRENDOUS.

Suffice to say the airconditioning was never repaired and I demanded another room OR another hotel. We were moved to a room with a serviceable airconditioning unit but the shower curtain was old, torn and very "yukky" - the shower could not be hung on the wall as the hook was missing, the shower curtain rail was only in place due to a piece of string and the basin drain was completely blocked.

The advertised "Internet Connection" was non existent although I was assured it normally worked but they were waiting for something to be repaired/replaced. Don't believe it they only repair/replace things when they are FORCED to.

They advertise 5 pools but anyone swimming in the main pool is likely to catch a nasty disease. It was dirty, the water was cloudy and on one occasion when it was emptied due to someone being sick in it they did not even bother to clean it, just emptied it and immediately refilled it. The indoor pool was disgusting too. Green slime around the pool area, black mould growth around the tiles and over the glass roof and of course the airconditioning unit that hung on the wall had ceased to function several years ago.

The launderette they advertise consists of one very very old and partially broken machine that works if you are very nice to it and one equally elderly dryer.

They advertise multiple bars but in fact there are just two. One main bar with room for about 30 people in discomfort and an outside verandah bar that an accomodate around 10 people at any time plus a verandah with about 20 tables and chairs for about 80. There are around 400 "inmates" at any given time so where are they supposed to drink?

There is a particularly nasty 'ratty' looking little man who I believe to be the manager but whenever anyone tries to take him to task about the hotel he either ignores them or walks outside for a 'ciggy'.

This hotel is quite disgusting in all aspects.

The food is barely edible, the environment of the restaurant is much like a 'cattle market' one has to queue for everything and it is just not worth the wait.

The advertised entertainment consists of 2 nights of KARAOKE sung mostly by children pushed to perform by their parents but who don't know the songs and cannot sing or by elderly folk who "follow" the KAROAKE from hotel to hotel to get their 15 minutes of fame. A couple of nights 3rd grade singers perform and the highlight of the week is Bingo as you have never heard it before. It takes almost all night to read out the numbers - it is for the 'toy stuffers' and those who are dead from the neck up.

Whatever else you do - DO NOT stay as this filthy flea pit of a hotel. Anyone would like pix I can send them pictures of the Offical Brochure with a TRUTHFULL and REALISTIC explanation of why even the pictures lie.

This is a 3/4 of a star hostel pretending to be a HOTEL.

The airline we travelled with were very good, the airline were called British jet.

On arrival at Malta Airport the Malta bargains rep was very good, and directed us to our lovely brand new, air conditioned coach.

Then........ we arrived at the palm court, we got checked in hassle-free, and our room was fine, the air con worked, and everything was of a acceptable standard.

The food is nothing special, but OK, in a canteen style restaurant, breakfast was better than dinner.

The staff were quite rude, but some were excellent.

The cleanliness wasn't too good, but they tried their best for such a large hotel.

The entertainment was good but repetitive, and nothings seems to change nightly.

On the whole the hotel is good for what we paid, nothing amazing but a great base to tour Malta, and what else can you get for 14 nights HB In august for under 280 each??

If you want a better hotel, go for it, but we were on a budget and it wasn't too bad for what we wanted in a holiday.

Glad we never went fully inclusive, the cleanliness of the hotel has to be seen to be believed. Smelly unclean room dirty on arrival, cobwebs on ceiling in room, dirty shower curtain never been washed, smelly shower room, toilet stank.

Now the breakfast was not what I would expect even a transport cafe serves a better quality menu, dinner again nothing to sing home about, food was cold and greasy under cooked chicken followed by many trips to the toilet.

The hotel was in a good location which this is the only good thing going for this hotel any where else I would say this hotel would now be a pile of rubble they really need to get their act together.

The hotel staff in my opinion what I did see of them they all seemed to be conditioned in one manner which was like can't be bothered.

Entertainment not what I would call my cup of tea would I visit this hotel again quite simply no.

We had a on-time hassle-free flight, and were realy in the holiday spirit, we landed in malta and were greeted by a lound-mouthed rep, we then went on a modern coach, to the palm court.......

We did not pay much and didn't expect much, but we do need standards everyone requires!

The cleaniness is awful, and the pool was dirty! ( we never dared to get in)

The staff on the whole are rude, but I suppose they do, do their best.

The entertainment is awful.

The food is un-ediable, its either under or over cooked, ( so we ate out very much)

However cheap they do this hostel, dont go!

We had hassle free flights to and from Malta, there was no delays and the cabin crew were friendly. The leather seats on the plane were a nice surprise.
We checked in reasonable quickly, although it took a while for us to get onto our floor as the queue for the lift was quite large, this was due to the size of them, you could just about get 2 people in with their cases! On arrival to the 4th floor we were greeted to a horrific smell but this only lasted a couple of days.

Our room was of reasonable standard, although there was some faults....for example the bathroom ! the door didn't shut properly - there was a lock on the OUTSIDE of the door to keep it shut - if you didn't do this and left your room you struggled to get back in as the bathroom door jarred with the main door! This wasn't really a problem for us - although the cleaners didn't quite get to grips with this and didn't shut the door on most occasions. The toilet was also too close to the sink - you couldn't sit down properly !
The beds were differnt sizes - although they were reasonably comfortable. The air conditioning worked well and the TV had some sky channels (sky news, Uk Gold, Sky Movies).

The maids visited every day. (This was probably because they were drinking our vodka and eating our crisps !!!!). They were very loud whilst moving from room to room despite the signs to keep quiet in the corridors. They also managed to break a glass bottle of pop but didn't really clean it up very well - the stem of the bottle was found on the floor when I stood on it !!! The floor was left sticky for a couple of days before they cleaned it properly.

The hotel staff were alright although they didnt really make an effort to smile.

The food was 'ok' although nothing special, it was very repetative, if you liked meat, chips, rice and gravy for your main meal then you would be fine !! because of this we decided on eating out more. The breakfast was a little disapointing! the bacon was horrendous. Toast was done on a conveyer belt and was done just as quick as a normal toaster. (have a look at the setting on the front of the machine). There was no fresh orange juice - this had to be bought from the bar, they provided some watered down, oranged colored liquid !!!!

Sun bathing by the pool was ok - if you could manage to get a sunbed, although due to the surrounding buildings the sun wasn't on you for the whole day. Most sun beds were broken(no headrest). The pool itself was cloudy although we went in a few times and came back alive ! the areas around the pool could do with replacing as they were a little sharp. We only saw it been emptied and cleaned once.....after this my girlfriend was convinced it then came out of the showers as it smelt of chlorine !!!! We decided on sun bathing on the top floor as it was quieter (no kids allowed) and the sun shone there all day. The pool upstairs was tiny but adequate for a cool down.

We were pleased with the location of the 'hotel'. We went in some really good english bars (The Welcome Inn, Crazy Daisys and the Paleon Bar) were all very friendly.

Can't really comment on entertainment as we were out every night. Although from what we could gather it was either bingo or quizzes !

This is the pits. Anyone who says different must be easily pleased.

We booked out in the morning and payed 300 pounds for a self catering appartment. Malta bargains did offer us another hotel of similar standard but I didnt even look at it and they refunded me all the money for my accommodation which wasnt much(about 100 pounds).

I know this is a cheap hotel but you could not stay in it. The pool is filthy you cannot see the bottom. The rooftop pool is a paddling pool which stinks.

If I had to stay there it would have been the longest week of my life.

Our room was clean, the food was edible and for what we paid for all inclusive it was no problem to go out for the odd meal.

The pool was clean I can't see what people were moaning about, seems to me if they spent less time complaining and more time making their holiday a good one they would have loved it, we just had a great holiday.

Your room is just a base, I was dreading it I had heard lots of bad reports and yes most of them where right but luckily for us our room was nice the staff we dealt with where lovely, a couple of times we needed there help and got it promptly and with a smile.

I would go back to this hotel. The flight over was very good staff were lovely and the same back as well.
