On arrival, the hotel, from the outside looked really shabby, with people sat out at tables on the pavement this was the overflow from the bar.

The first rooms we were allocated were filthy dirty and had not been cleaned since the last people had moved out. we went down the the 'restuarant' the food was inedible, what a great start to our holiday.

We had brought some friends with us (their 1st time abroad). The advert had said 3 star hotel with 4/5 star amenities, 5 bars a roof top pool.

There are 2 bars which open at night 1 during the day, the roof top pool is one of those you buy from argos for your back garden, the main pool you would not dare enter, I think it was part of some experiment on who can get wild life to grow in it and the 4 cats used it as their toilet.

There was a painted tennis court but this had broken childrens toys on it, which the maids swept the dirty water onto every morning when they cleaned?
The balcony from the night before.

The indoor pool was also a health hazard do not enter toxic. There was building work going on right above the childrens?

Play area a large crane was lifting a huge metal gurder over to the next hostel,we took photos just incase(the road in which the crane was working from had been closed off but not the childrens? Play area or the sunterrace/night balacony.

The toilet that was close to the reception area was a delight a bit like the ones you find on the side of the road when roadworks are present, I think they are known as thunder boxes.

The staff were neither pleasant or helpful especially the reps they just didn't want to know at all.

The entertainment was bingo on the top floor if you were over 16 and wonderful karaoke downstairs, with the odd quiz thrown in for good measures.

On whole I would not recommend this hostel to anyone, it is a flea pit, the pools are a health risk, the smell that comes out of your bathrooms are disgusting as are the smells in the corridors.

The one thing we did not see was a cockroach but then I think that it was to dirty for them to stay in.

Please do not ever ever ever think this is a holiday it is the most disgusting place on earth. Do not believe anything other than the worst, words cannot describe this place. I do not understand why there are any good things said about it.

It is sad but it has put us off Malta and we will not go again, something needs doing about this place.

We read the reports before travelling, so we didn't expect much, and it is much as descibed, but it didn't put us off as to be honest we didn't expect much for the price we paid.

Yes the hotel is old and run down, the food left a lot to be desired but as we were half board it didn't bother us too much, we had some lovely meals while out and about at lunch time.

Our idea for this holiday was to visit Malta, see the country, visit the sites and we were not disappointed there are so many lovely places to go and see, and the local bus service is great. The hotel is very close so no problem to get anywhere.

The staff are helpful but they have to put up with a lot, especially peoples complaints, they work hard and for very low pay, we actually felt sorry for some of them.

Most of the mess we saw in the hotel, was from parents letting their children throw rubbish in the corridors and the noise again from parents allowing televisions up so loud you could hear them in the corridor, but despite all its faults yes we would visit again.

This holiday gave us sun sea and scenery, as a family we all got what we wanted from this holiday, our son went scuba diving, his girlfriend got the tan, our daughters loved the snorkling and my husband and I got to see Malta.

Visited this "hotel" in 1997

In 2005 I found myself in hotel next door ( club riza) which is nothing like Palm Court

In 1997, the initial smell and view of room / pool put us off, and we asked to be moved (they sent us to Euroclub - not much better)

In 2005 I was surprised to find ourselves in the next door neighbouring complex - all I can say is that Palm Court did not look any better!

Its a shame - I'm giving location 3 stars which ups the average score - shame I can't give minus scores

The legendary Palm Court!

We just got back from a thoroughly enjoyable week, best value for money you could want!

Our room was tidy, beds ok and shower worked fine, more than can be said for alot of British B&B's etc! The food was good, had a choice and always found something that we liked.

Only spent one day round the hotel pool, as we were out and about alot, but that day was hot, the terrace is a real sun trap and the pool was fine to splash around in!

One thing I would say is that this was a holiday for us withput the children and although we both want to return to Malta, if we take the children we would probably stay somewhere else with a bigger pool and better choice of entertainment for them! We would go back to the Palm Court on our own quite happily!

Go with an open mind and enjoy!!

Note from Administrators - the post below has been added to this report as it is from the same person, who is reporting on the same holiday but using a different name

Can't believe some of the things written. This hotel offers great value for money, was clean, food choice was very good, ok the swimming pool area could do with a little attention but you are so well placed that you can get to plenty of other places to swim and sunbathe.

We have been to lots of places where the staff just ignore you or don't offer any help but at the Palm Court all were only too pleased to help or even just give a friendly
hello when passing.

This is not 5* but I would say that some of the facilities are better than alot of 4* places we have stayed.

We will be going back, possibly later this year.

We were dreading this hotel, after seeing it on holidays from hell!

We agree with very little that the bad reports say, we had a good time.

We agree the Palm Court could do with being updated, but for what we paid we were very pleased.

Cleaniness is good, staff are kind and helpful.

Food is not bad, but could be hotter!

If your on a budget, and want a good holiday go here, otherwise pay a lot more and go to another hotel.

How did this place get on Holidays from Hell?
We had one the best family holidays we've ever been on here.

The kids always found something they liked to eat (a small miracle!), and were always enjoying themselves.

When we first saw the prices we thought whats wrong with this company? But Malta Bargains were really good, the Palm Court was excellent (the photos on Maltabargains.com give a reasonable idea of what it's like) and we will be back next year.

We have just arrived back today from The Palm Court Hotel (Qawra)! Well! What can I say-we couldnt wait to return.

The hotel didn't look too bad when we first arrrived, but the longer we were there, the more we saw.The staff were rather rude,& disinterested in anything you had to comment on.The entertainment was the same-day in day out (not for the younger generation at all) The kids were so bored at night, but we were all-inc so we were tied to the hotel, unless we wanted to pay for food & drinks elsewhere, with 7 of us it worked out very expensive, when it was an expensive holiday to begin with.

The pool looked like it never got cleaned. Two different members of staff told us that the pool was cleaned everyday-One said morning,& one said evening, although this was never witnessed by us in the 2 weeks we were there. At 1.18m deep in the shallow end I thought this was rather dangerous for above toddler age.

The surrounding floor to the pool was dangerous & uneven, aswell as the edges to the pool,it looked like it had been chissled all the way round. The rooms had a permanent sewer smell, although the air con did work,& the bed was comfy.

Having heard at the airport that this place was on holidays from hell a while ago we now know why...

First and foremost the food was terrible, even walking down to the restaurant there was an awful smell that put you off eating before you even get there.

Most of the food seemed to have been pre cooked earlier and we could see it being moved across the road and back to the sister hotel Venus aparthotel (previously know as Rueben

After arriving at 3 in the morning 1st impression were it doe'sn't look too bad,we were quickly handed our keys and off to the rooms we went, well if your paying low prices your not going to get the 'ritz' are you! the rooms were basic and a little dingy and our shower rail was heald up by some wire, still the rooms wer cleaned every day and your probably only going to sleep and wash in there.

The food in the restaurant (cafe) was quite reasonable and there was a fair selection, the restaurant could certainly do with a paint job as it had certainly seen better days.

The entertainment was quite abysmal unless you don't mind some old boy trying to sing along with has electric organ, we tried it once but never again, we prefered to sit out the front of the hotel with a drink were it was quite pleasant, just talking, drinking and watching people pass by.

To sum up the palm court it could certainly do with plenty licks of paint, but it grew on us towards the end of the week, your paying a cheap price and this hotel has it faults but we thought it just about ok.
