The resort was very flat so suitable for the elderly and infirm. There were many beach bars and resaurants and the ones we tried were very good bar one.A 5 kilometer walk, bus or taxi ride took us to Villa Real which has a Ferry across to Ayemonte in Spain for 1 Euro 10 Cents each way. It is well worth a visit.

Town apears to be very limited mainly shops and cafe's on our last day we found a night club/disco and there is also a casino. The beach in the warmer weather will make a sun lovers paradise with miles(or shold i say kilometers) of clean wide sand. But if you are looking to do more than relax then we feel that transport to larger towns may be required.

The resort was busy but no lager louts etc. Lovely shopping. Beach is amazing but having to book a sunbed was annoying. Fab restaurants to sit outside and enjoy the wonderful weather. Where's my passport!

Monte Gordo itself is a lively bustling place with nice shops, good restaurants and bars, an incredible beach and good transport links to other nearby towns and villages. Also the Portuguese are very friendly and helpful people.
I visited Monte Gordo with my sister and as two women travelling alone we certainly never felt threatened or worried about anything in the resort.

The resort itself was fine - lots of lovely eating places all at reasonable prices. Quiet at night - no nightclubs etc. which suited us fine! Fantastic beach.
I'd probably go again.

Not much entertainment as we were there in November and a lot was closed.
All the cafes that were open served good food. The resort is level and easy walking.
If possible, try a day outing to Seville in Spain. Its a great day out and the ice cream parlours there are "to die for"

Monte Gordo is lovely. Little narrow streets with small restaurants and bars. (Not for teenagers looking for loads of night clubs etc, or for holidaymakers looking for english bars or kiss me quick hats).
Not tacky at all.
Beautiful beach.

Quiet resort, not much night life, which suited us as we have a young family. A few supermarkets, and small restaurants, but nothing special. great for relaxing.
Found a lovely bar (bar 42) clean and friendly.
'fun park' next to the hotel with go karts, play area, quad biking and dodgems right next to the hotel which was great for the kids.
Hotel situated at the edge of the resort, next to a camping site and nature reserve.
I definately think this is the bestlooking, and best situated hotel in the resort, felt really special walking in and out of there each time!
We hired a car for the duration of the holiday, picked upat the airport, which enabled us tovisit other places.
Seville was an hours drive away, well worth a look, although we must have visited on the hottest day of the year - a bit too hot for the kids!. Also travelled to Vilamoura with its beautiful marina.

we loved monte gordo. it is unspoilt and quiet. the fisherman bring their catch in on the beach and you can sit in a cafe on the beach watching them. all drinks were only one euro-wine ,beer, baileys. the beach is beautiful, with sand dunes and stretched for miles.eating out was very reasonable. there was a good stocked supermarket, very cheap and good products.you can walk to the next town called villa realor take a taxi for 5 euros. well wort a visit .from ther you can take a ferry to spain. it only takes 20 mins and cost 1 euro
