Can't say if the pool side rooms are better but we were in room 901 and the road was noisy and a cockerel crowed from sun up till sun down.

Beaches

The beach was golden and sea was bright blue (but I think that was the cold lol)
The only negative thing about the beach is the amount of cigerette ends that my son kept trying to pick up and the price of the sunlounges (9 euros!!)

The resort! Blackpool in the sun without the fair-ground, all the shops were the same selling the same old tacky goods, the beach was the best i've ever seen. Eating out was a bit pricy in some outlets and the pubs (nearly all Irish) were expensive, that's why they were empty and touting for custom with 20% off promotions.
( It's cheaper to eat and drink in Scotland folks)
I will some day return to the Algarve, BUT I will never come back to this resort as to me it is little Ireland.

The resort entertainment was much better than the hotel but depends where you go. A lot of places had televisions with English TV shows including "Big Brother". The beach was lovely and always kept clean. The resort was very nice but a lot of people trying to pull you into bars and restaurants.

"The Strip" of Praia da Rocha is full of restaurants and bars and tourist shops. We had some lovely meals in lots of different restaurants, in fact over the 14 nights we didnt have a bad meal. As we were holidaying with our 2 small children we didnt have any 'late' nights, but we went into Las Vegas bar on the Strip and watched a very good duo singing. Also one night we went to a bar called the Waterfront at the new marina, and there is a brilliant guy singing there (looks a bit like Phil Collins!). Very friendly atmosphere.
The beach is a little bit tricky to get to - down some steep steps. However, we managed it on 2 occasions with and it is SO worth while!! Absolutely stunning views as you look at the cliffs when standing in the sea. Had a meal in a lovely restaurant on the beach, cant remember the name, but it looks nothing from the outside, delicious food though, and again, a couple of guys singing and playing in a band.
All in all a lovely holiday & resort, would not hesitate to go back!

The town was pretty clean, but like every town it had its "grot spots." There was plenty to do in and around the town and plenty of people offering trips to nearby sights, towns and even out on boat trips, all at resonable prices.
The beach was to die for. Beautifully kept and amazing views.
I'm not the sort of person who ever goes to the same place twice as I want to see different parts of the world. However if I was I would definitely go back and stay in the same hotel!
I have also recommended it to others as it is well worth it!

The beaches were beautiful - for a young people's holiday I would not recommend it - this is very family orientated and the nightclubs are terrible..i would not visit this resort again unless I had a couple of children and wanted a really quiet holiday.

Plenty of bars & restaurants to pick from and the Marina is worth a visit by day and by night, although the food can be quite expensive at the Marina.
The beaches are amazing - take a walk towards Alvor for the quietest and more picturesque area. The sea is quite cold at first but then you get used to it and you wont want to get out! You can hire sunbeds for 9 euros a pair all day. There are different watersports on offer too including jet ski's, banana boats etc.
Car hire is worth shopping around for, as are the excursions and meals.
BEWARE OF TOUTS WITH SCRATCHCARDS CLAIMING YOU HAVE WON A STAR PRIZE. They are similar to timeshare croneys and will waste 2 hours of your time - there are no winners and you get NOTHING for your time.

The resort is nice but fairly small. We could not believe how many Irish themed/owned (?) pubs there were (all very good though). The pubs and shops are all fairly similiar- we did not eat out much as I am a fussy vegetarian so made do with sandwiches and pasta from the well stocked supermarkets.
The beach is gorgeous though we did not spend full days there as we could not find any toilets- beware of men relieving themselves beside the rocks- I spotted this a couple of times- very unpleasant.
There is a series of steps all the way along the beach- some are steeper than others. I imagine it would be difficult for the less agile to visit the beach.
I would definitely visit Portugal agin but maybe a slightly less commercial resort- I like a wee bit more variety in the shopping and entertainment front. We did get annoyed by people approaching us in the street with scratchcards and flyers but I know this does not bother some people and so would not be a problem.
Overall- if you are looking for a lovely beach, some rest and relaxation with plentyl of pubs (not sure about any nightclubs though) and smashing weather- you are in luck!!!

The resort was very nice, though small, and extremely 'touristy'. There are a good number of restaurants to choose from, albeit my boyfriend wasn't impressed that chips are served with everything. There is a terrific beach, all kitted out with sunbeds and umbrellas (although it costs 9 Euros per day for two beds). There is a nice little street we called 'Irish Street'. This contained several Irish Pubs which had entertainment and an excellent atmosphere.
I wouldn't rush back to The Algarve but enjoyed our holiday immensely (once we moved apartments).
