Location
The room was considerably better than expected, we'd booked it at the last minute and it was one of the lower budget options. The kitchenette was well equipped and the beds were comfortable enough. There was also enough room for people not to be falling over each other.
There was a fridge/freezer which meant we could bottle our own water and keep it chilled rather than spend money on umpteen bottles from the local shop. The air conditioning was excellent had no problems with it whatsoever. Television reception was patchy but sufficiently good to watch BBC coverage of the Olympics.
For those with a 'green' streak, there were lots of energy saving things around the hotel, all the corridor lights on every floor were on timers with switches every few metres, all the rooms had energy saving bulbs and it was the only hotel I could see with solar panels on the roof.
Maid service and room cleaning was frequent and discreet, no army of cleaners to fight through on a morning !
The food at breakfast was a choice of full English or continental and was self serve, so you could get a good meal in the morning that kept you going well into the afternoon.
Didn't eat at the hotel restaurant but the menu seemed varied in style though a little limited in choice. We mainly ate at the Red Lion pub which is adjoined to the hotel. Plenty of english style choice there (good for kids), though you have to ask for an alternative to chips with every meal (jackets on request) and a better range of vegetables than just salad would be an improvement. If you wanted other choices then there was an abundance of eateries with 5-10 minutes walk.
The swimming pool is a good size with at least one pool attendant on duty though they occasionally disappear to deal with the tennis court. The pool is cleaned every morning and opens at 9am.
The best laugh is the 'Brits we'll stand in queues' mentality by the lifts !! Don't even bother, just walk down to the entrances next to the restaurant or Red lion at 9am and grab your loungers there. There are usually enough for everybody though some people are just so selfish that they grab one for every family member, including the toddlers !
If you've got teenagers who must have internet access then there are three terminals with webcams fitted and they're 5 euros an hour.
Overall this hotel is much better than it's 2 star rating.

we went half board and therefore ate in al la carte restuarant just beside red lion. breakfasts dead on - buffet of usual stuff- bacon really tasty! waiter julio brilliant with kids. evening meals a bit dodgy at times, but depends how fussy you are! we ate out half the time, but kids could have whatever they wanted of the red lion menu which was great.
kids club seemed good but ours only went to disco at night because of age differences reps good with kids, but a bit bossy. avoid reptile show- basically 3 small reptiles and a draft excluder coming out through a hole in a blanket!! don't miss hypnotist show - this guy is brill!! we all laughed our heads off.
plenty to do around hotel - tennis, table tennis, pool tables, air hockey, football pitch, swings, slide, splash pool etc. in big pool every day where 5 year old learned to swim confidently!!
well positioned at top of strip where on 15 minute walk passed all the restuarants to the lovely beach, with warm water.crazy golf, horse riding, go carting all beside siesta 1. we loved nevada bar, good food, friendly waiters and cheap! huge chicken salad for 5 euro, fab pizzas, pint of san miguel 2 euro! kids tv on too!!
at night we loved lunas grill- play park out back for kids and amazing tribute bands every night- really good steak.
will definately go back, especilly to see julio x

There is a spa shop (yes you read it right a spa shop) under the apartements which is handy for the day to day essentials but is also on the expensive side, shops in the town were cheaper but then you had to lug everything back to the complex, which we did once with milk, water and bread and by the time we had got to our apartment the milk had gone sour as it was VERY hot that day (41.6 c).All rooms have air conditioning which is an essential in this part of the world,we even had it running on low all night as it gets uncomfortably hot.Maid service every other day, except on Thursday and Saturday to change the towels. The loby area is clean and cool and the Siesta one is served by four lifts, which seemed to be working quite slowly when we stayed there.Hotel staff are very approchable even whic complaints/niggles,and any complaints etc are sorted out VERY quickly and efficiently.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom private owned apartment. The Siesta 1 is situated at the end of Alcudia backing on to the mountains and away from the main noise of the pubs and clubs.
It is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is cleaned every morning and the reception, main corridors and poolside are immaculate.
The Thomas Cook Entertainment team of Aairon, Sammi, Carla and Emma are absolutely amazing. They are all crazy and get both the kids and adults involved in the activities throughout the day including boules, table tennis, water polo, killer pool, penalty shoot-outs and football matches etc and put on a great show at night - I would go back just to see these guys again - they made my holiday :) and my sone was in tears not wanting to leave them as they got him to really come out of his shell.
I would recommend the apartments to anyone with children as there is plenty for them to do and the pool is ideal for all ages (just watch out for the centre of the pool between the island and the shallow end as it is over 6 ft deep, around the edges are shallower).
The Red Lion is a great pub situated below the hotel and has entertainment on every night with a kids disco, bingo and then main entertainment. The food is quite good and the prices of both food and drinks was reasonable.

There are palm trees and an island in the middle of the pool which is cleaned each morning.
We couldn`t find any complaints with the hotel it was nice and clean, the staff were very pleasant and couldn`t do enough.
Our kids are quite picky but the food variety kept them happy and Julio one of the waiters was brilliant with the banter, our lot looked forward to him and Liz being on duty.
The Red lion is the pub within the hotel, most staff are brilliant however a couple seem a bit snappy but it may be down to language differences. This pub was actually cheaper than most of the town bars.
The Thomas cook rep Chris and the superstars Sammi Carla Emma and Aairon had the kids for the full fortnight, they played games all day, danced and sang all night and we felt that the kids were in the hands of a very safe and capable team, the sound system let them down and this was a shame although it seemed a tad better on our last night.
Other entertainment at the hotel a really good Magician a Hypnotist with a very clean act, a reptile show and a parrot lady who suffered badly when the parrots went on strike to watch Euro 2008 ...all good fun.

On reading previous reviews I was aware thet there was a pub/resturant under the hotel called the Red Lion and so we decided on our first night to grab our dinner there. It was cheap however food not good at all would not recommend eating.
Hotel very clean and maid service great, location is the top of the strip and therefore no noice from the pubs or even the the Red Lion as that had great entertainment bingo and karoke and lots of the stuff to keep kids amused. Would recommend the pub for entertainment first class.
I would visit the Siesta again however would go elsewhere for food.

this time we overlooked the front not the pool but was pleased we did as we could watch the sun rise over the mountings and have the sun on our balcony first thing in the mornings for a few hours had countless cups of tea there just engoying the views cleanliness all over the complex was tops everyone works very hard to keep it spotless i had several all day breakfasts in the red lion and they give you plenty good as you will get anywere and good prices location very good at top of the street beach at other end of street all the shops eating places along main street enjoyed the walk to the beach plenty of shops to look at on way down for you girls takes about 7/8 mins at normal walking speed but its a nice walk sounds further than it is hotel will run you there and bring you back in a minibus if you ask make sure you see the pancake man at night on the left just before the bridge he is something to see supermarket prices are about the same as at home allthough somethings are cheaper have everything you would need no need to take anything its all there and good selections of everything there is a chemist shop 2 mins away from hotel a very good shop everything you need in there the hotel staff on reception are allways polite and friendly they all speak good english elaine the manager is english and is wery helpfull the phones in the hotel are very cheap to use just ask at reception they will sort it for you a good family hotel

the maids came round every morning to change towels and clean up a bit but there's not much that they can do if you are still in.
the 'red lion' restaurant is just below the hotel and we ate there all the time, absolutely fantastic, the food was lovely, and the price was reasonable, for a full english breakfast it was 3.80 euros, which is really good, go elsewhere and you'll pay more. the bar staff were great as well, especially with the kids, they go round giving them all lolly-pops.
the thomas cook entertainers, jenny, jodi, amy + david were fantastic with the kids, and really worked hard, god knows how they did it, they deserve a medal for what they do.
the hotel is situated about 10 mins walk from the beach, and 2 mins from the main street, where there plenty of shops and bars, a 15 min walk will take you to the water park which is fantastic, but take your own food with you as it is very very expensive, we got 5 burgers + 5 drinks, and it cost us 32 euros, so be warned!!
i hope this has helped anyone who is thinking of going here as it is a great hotel, with friendly staff, who work very hard, actually, it was that good i have booked up again for 2 weeks next year.
