Location
The food was really good, always hot with plenty of choice. There is a separate vegetarian buffet, carvery and a kids only buffet. I can't imagine anybody not being able to have a meal they enjoy. There was a different choice every night of our 2 week stay. The breakfast also had everything needed for a full English, or choice of cereals, toast, croissants, cold meats, cheeses, etc. The restaurant staff are always busy replenishing the food and clearing tables.
The room was cleaned every day with all fresh towels every day. The rest of the hotel was also kept very clean.
The location is superb, right on the beach of a lovely cove. The sea is excellent for swimming, warm and clear, and is very safe for kids.
The pool area is at the top of the beach, so everything is very close to the hotel.
The staff were all friendly, helpful and spoke English. Any queries or problems are quickly solved in a friendly manner. They certainly seem to be there to ensure you have a good holiday.
The entertainment was on every night. It always started with the mini disco for the kids, and then sometimes a spot of bingo , then the visiting act. Some of these were excellent, such as a Beatles tribute band, and others were a bit iffy. But it's a good spot to sit and relax with a drink while the kids play.
I would definitely visit again. It was full of British families, so if you are a couple looking to relax it may not be for you, but for families it is excellent.

Food is fantastic, something for everyone ,but be warned there is so much choice that you overfill yourselves in the first few days then never feel hungry again.
A second pool has been built at the front of the hotel and it was always fairly easy to get a sunbed here as they are not chained up (unlike the main pool , were I beleive it was bedlam trying to get a sunbed there), but the pool and "sun-terraces" around the pool are not exactly picture postcard material.
The beach is very clean and even in August when both hotels were full there was always plenty of space to be found on the beach.
The "all-inclusive" package is good - snacks (ie.burgers, hotdogs, chips and sandwiches) are available from the bar all-day if you don't fancy going into the restaurant for lunch . Drink was good , apart from everything coming in half-pint plastic beakers , good if its a short a pain if its beer,as two gulps and its gone .
Entertainment : as the Corfu has gone all-inclusive they did try to hold their own entertainment.
The daytime was great if you wanted to join in , with archery, shooting, water games ,golf, darts, bowls and other things to do.The evening entertainment was a bit of a let down though . Out of the 14 nights we were there we only stayed for 2 acts , which were good but for an all-in hotel it was poor. Because of this you have to trek down to the main stage area(shared with the Skorpios)were most of the British based entertainment was showing. Some of the acts down here were brilliant some average some poor(parrot show).
The only problem with this was that you could not use the bar down there for your "free" drinks, only the bar in the Hotel. So it was a trek up and down all the time for drinks which was a real pain , especially when the hotel tried to enforce a 2 drinks only rule at the bar. With a family of four and a glass of beer lasting a nano-second this was a real pain and did become the bane of my holiday.
The only other point to note was that the hotel had more Italians than Brits staying in it. On the whole this would not be a problem , but a lot of them did think they were beneath queueing, and caused endless amounts of resentment at the bar when they would just walk straight to the front for their endless supply of expresso and be served straight away even though the bar staff knew you had been queueing for several minutes. I saw a lot of British people having to "remind" them that they should get to the back of the queue .
On another day with different people the potential was there for a riot as most of the Brits we were talking to all felt the same, that we Brits were being treated like second class citizens compared to the Italians. There were several other incidents that happened but that is not for me to go into here .
According to the management the Skorpios is going international next year as well ,so that will probably mean that Brits will be in a minority over the whole complex so this could either prove a bonus or nightmare depending on your point of view .
In-conclusion the Corfu is a very clean hotel in a brilliant location, with good facilities, excellent food, but I can't help feeling that they have'nt thought through the "all-iclusive" option properly . If drinks were available from all the bars (after all it's all owned by the same comany)and better entertainment then yes this would be brilliant hotel/holiday as it is it's just a pretty good one(except for rude Italians).

I travelled with my wife and 2 kids (4yrs & 18mths)
Hotel rooms - These were cleaned, towels changed and beds made every day, even to the point that the chambermaids folded our childrens pyjamas and placed them on their pillows and put shoes on racks.
Public areas - Spotless - like others have said there is always someone cleaning, the outside terrace is somewhere nice to sit and enjoy a drink before or after dinner.
Beach - The best part! The kids loved it - safe, soft sand and crystal clear water with lots of fish so get yourself a snorkel set (10 euros from local shop) - even my 4yr old was doing it. I must admit I did have to lay the towels down in the morning just so we could get the perfect position, we then hired the sunbeds off the man on the beach - 4 euros each.
Pool - Very busy and unless you want to queue to get a sunbed first thing in the morning, there are none to be had - there are plenty of chairs avaiable though. At about 3-4pm a lot of people start heading off. This is when we came off the beach to use the pool area. The pool itself is great. They have built a new small kids/baby pool ajoined to what is now the main pool.
Bars - Lounge bar - Excellent service as this is the only place where the kids use their all inclusive allowance they as many soft drinks, crisps, Ice cream, and lollies as they want from 10am-10pm. The staff are extremely patient and helpful and they make a good sangria!and also did daily cocktails for 2 euros - bargain!
The Pool bar - Good service and good food for a snack at lunchtime. They always have a daily special, e.g. pizza + glass of wine 4 euros. Don't miss Thursday - fresh paella day, WE DID !!!! this is also where the main evening entertainment takes place. The kids enjoyed the mini disco, even if it was the same music every night. I think they try to get the little ones to learn the moves - it was really easy to spot the people who had been there for 2 weeks!
Food - Well... why is it that because we are british that they feel that we need eat british food in Spain. Yes, the food was hot and and the kids had their own section (burgers, nuggets, chips and beans mainly), BUT there was always a roast something, everything was out of a tin or packet (Veg and cakes)and for me the last straw was the night they called English night where we had Lancshire Hot Pot, Chicken pie, Fish (their version) & Chips and roast beef. No local dishes at all during the week we were there, which was a shame. Please Skorpios, where is the Paella and fresh seafood and meat cooked in the sauces from your country. Don't let this put you off though - it isn't bad enough for it to spoil the holiday. On a plus note, the breakfast choice was good and every night the bar area where you had to get your drinks from in the restaurant had a "wine of the day" average price 8 euros (

Our groups ages ranged from 6 to 60. The Hotel has 2 swimming pools ( shared with its Sister Hotel the Marina Skorpios ) and is located on a beautiful cove. We were at the hotel from the 31/08/05 and had no problems getting a place by the pool.
There were never any arguments about whether we would spend the day by the pool or on the beach. Because of the location of the hotel you could literally pick yourself up off your sunbed, walk down the steps and you were on the beach. A big plus, I think you will agree when you have young children, as they get fed up easily.
There is nothing worse than packing your bags, travelling to the beach for the day and then after an hour or so the children are bored and want to go back to the pool. The food was very good.
With an excellent selection for breakfast, lunch & evening meal served in the restaraunt. Along with snacks from 10am to 6pm being served at the poolside bar. Unlimited ice creams & ice lollies were also available.
Just to forewarn you if you get your drinks from the larger poolside bar you will have to pay, as this is part of the Skorpios Hotel, which is H/Board. The only thing that let down the Maina Corfu was the evening entertainment. We went down to the Skorpios. It was a little better there.
If we return, I will request a room not overlooking the pool & beach. The views are lovely but you can't get away from the entertainment as the stage is directly below. The only consolation is, that at least you know between 11.30pm & midnight everything stops.
I can't comment on the daytime entertainment, as we didn't choose to join in, but there seemed to be plenty going on at the main pool.
Overall we all had a great time.

The hotel was very clean, especially the restaurant which was air conditioned.
The food was excellent, a really good choice of dishes. Although chips were available I didn't eat them once during our 7 night stay, there was so much else to choose from. We didn't really eat many snacks as we lunched and dined in the restaurant.
The location of the hotel was idyllic. The cove and beach is adjacent to the hotel, so a quick walk up some steps takes you to the hotel bar. We found the beach less crowded than the pool areas, which suffered the normal sunbed traumas!
The hotel is not in Cala D'or as advertised but in Cala Egos, and that is a good thing if you want to avoid crowds. The village of Cala Egos is 2 minutes walk from the hotel and in the main street you can find a variety of shops, bars and restaurants to cater for all needs. We didn't use the bars nor restaurants as we found our hotel was excellent.
The hotel staff were very friendly, we tried to speak phrase book Spanish to them and they were very appreciative of this.
We didn't really get involved in the hotel entertainment so I can't comment. Our room was at the front of the hotel so we could hear the entertainment until it finished at approx 11.30pm and it seemed ok. The noise was not a problem because all you had to do was shut the patio door and turn up the air conditioning and you couldn't hear a thing.
We came home saying that we would re visit the hotel again and we are planning another holiday through Travel City Direct this year.

The kids had a brilliant time. Hotel was right on the beach, which is a small sandy cove.
The swimming pool was a good size and warm.
The staff were more than helpful.
The rooms were spotless as was the fridge. We also had a kettle in the room which was a bonus. Cleaners were excellent.
No complaints about this hotel at all.
The food was fantastic piping hot and lots of choice and fresh warm bread rolls at each meal. Have just returned and want to book again for next year.
The kids didn't want to come home, they loved the mini disco and kids club.
Fantastic hotel, fantastic staff, fantastic location. If you have booked a holiday here go and enjoy.

The staff are amazing... they will do absolutely anything to help. At one point during our stay our daughter slipped in the bathroom (not the hotel's fault) and cut her chin. The manageress (Natalia - an absolute star) was there immediately to help, and even accompanied my wife and daughter to the hospital in Palma.
Even the cleaning staff were friendly and 'part of the team', giving out free lollipops to the children whenever they passed by. If anybody in the hotel had a birthday, the staff would bring out a birthday cake especially for them. This is a huge credit to the organisation.
As a vegetarian, I normally have a big problem with 'buffet-style' food. However, there is a separate vegetarian area of the dining room, and during the two weeks of our stay there was never a duplicated main meal. On our final evening we planned to eat out of the hotel, but instead stayed in and were treated to a vegetarian paella with a side helping of stuffed courgette. The only negative on the food front are the desserts, which are quite bland and 'cheap' (jelly's etc).
The 'all-inclusive' for the kids was great. There are free ice lollies, ice creams, crisps, and drinks available from 10 to 10, and the waiters are so patient and friendly to the children. We hadn't expected this, so were really impressed. It's a pity that this wasn't available from the pool bar, but this is only a minor grumble.
The evening entertainment was good, with a mixture of singing, magic, comedy etc. During the day the kids were entertained not only by the First choice kids club but by the hotel entertainment staff who really worked hard and got to know them.
The only negatives about this hotel are the beds (I couldn't wait to get back to my own bed), and the pool size (really not big enough for the number of children and adults using it).
Apart from that, everything else is excellent and we would certainly return

The hotel grounds were also kept very clean.
The food got a bit repetitive towards the end of our stay.
The hotel entertainment was good we stayed most nights as Cala Egos hasn't got much for young children to do. The bar staff always very busy and friendly.
We intend to return next year as the holiday overall was fantastic but the hotel doesn't feature in any of next years brochures yet.
