Me and my girlfriend have just returned from two weeks at this hotel and will not be returning.

We checked into the hotel in the early hours of the morning and were given the key for Room 839. I've never had such a small room in my life, you couldn't walk around the bed and had to climb over it to get to the balcony which was half the size of the others in the hotel. The bathroom was across the hallway and had a seperate key to get into it which was great in the middle at night when you were crossing the hallway in your underwear as people were walking past. We complained to reception and were told to sleep there for one night. They moved us the following morning to a standard room which was three times the size of the last one.

The food was very average to say the least and usually consisted of spaghetti bolognese with a different name each night, some form of fish, i.e. Hake, Stone Bass, Sole or once we were given Cod which was suprising considering there were only english people in the hotel, finally Veal which came in many forms such as pie, in gravy, curried or the only nice way was as a carvery which only happened once although the rest were daily items. Breakfast consisted of the usual cooked ensemble but everything tasted the same as each other, there were no cereals and toast had to be cooked as you wanted it and it took an age which made for huge cues of people standing with half a loaf of bread in their hands. The snacks were ok to start with but only ever consisted of burgers, frankfurters, chips and potato croquets. We realised on the third day the the frankfurters were green because of the continuous cooking and possible re-useage from the previous day. The burgers all had dry blood clots going right through he middle which put us off them for the rest of the holiday. The chips and potato croquets were ok but became sickly after 3 days of eating them as a substitute for the other rubbish we were being served. Our "all-inclusive holiday" quickly became a "go out to restaurants for a good meal holiday".

The entertainment was ok but was geared towards the main age group in the hotel (50yrs - 70yrs). It was no good for a young couple so we had to use the Palma Nova Hotel over the road which your allowed to use at the managers descretion. It was a bit better but relied mainly on the guests to entertain themselves with such things as karaoke or a quiz.

The Palma Nova Palace is only rated as a four star because it offers an all-inclusive package. The Santa Lucia is right next to the beach, offers better entertainment, the food looks better and is only a three star. If the Palma Nova Palace is a four star then there's no justice for other better hotels who get lumbered with the three star tag just because they don't serve as much bad food as you want for free.

I read every review about this hotel before we went but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. I've made my mind up now and it's not good.

Arrived 2/8/02 for 2 weeks. First impressions realy nice, but reception area a bit small. Rooms were not ready and new tax was demanded immediately. Female receptionists were miserable, rude and realy unhelpful. Rooms were clean and airconditioning was a big help, and could be left on continuously with the use an old phonecard. Pool view was that of another hotel, which was just as well as the hotel pool was very small and always in the shade. Sunbeds were never available after 7am and were placed almost on top of each other. Food was very good, always hot and changed frequently. Snacks were available between meals which was great if you'd been out and missed mealtimes. Bar staff were realy friendly and realy nice which made up for the miserable "ladies" on reception. Good variety of all-inclusive drinks, no limits on requests. Watch out for the lucky "half board" guests who were also getting their drinks for free due to the useless bits of paper given as identity cards. Entertainment was good, but probably suited the "older" guest. No kids in the hotel was great, lots of teenagers around which was not a problem. Bar and pool entertainment area was very smoky, ashtrays everywhere, not very comfortable for non-smokers.

Would probaly rate the hotel a 3***, had a great holiday and would recommend hotel to anyone going for a "beach" holiday, for the all-inclusive food drink and to get away from the children. Would definately go back. Beach was about 5 mins walk and well worth it. If we were returning would definately stay at the Palma Nova Palace.

I HAVE STOPPED AT A FEW HOTELS IN MAJORCA BUT THIS IS THE WORST.
WHO EVER PUT THE 4 STAR RATING ON THIS HOTEL CAN VIST MY GARDEN SHED AND RATE THAT FOR ME (PROBERLY GIVE ME A 5 COMPERED TO THE HOTEL)
ON ARRIVAL THERE WAS NO REP ON THE BUS
AT THE HOTEL WE HAD TO WAIT A HOUR AS THERE WAS NO ROOM READY
THE STAFF ARE THE MOST MISSERABLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE YOU COULD EVER MEET

THE REPS ARE AS MUCH USE AS A CHOCOLATE FIRE GRATE THATS WHEN YOU CAN FIND THEM
THE POOL AREA IS ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AS MY GARDEN BUT THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS I DONT HAVE PEOPLE PUTTING TOWEL ON THE SUNBEDS AT 6-30AM
THE BARR IS OPEN FROM 8AM TO MIDNIGHT WHEN THERE IS ENOUGH STAFF TO OPEN IT OR YOU WAIT IN THE LONG LINE OF PEOPLE
THE FOOD IS THE SAME NEARLY EVERY DAY ONLY COOKED IN A DIFFERENT OIL TO CHANGE THE FLAVOR AND NOT MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM UNLESS YOU LIKE CHIPS
THE SECURITY IS @#%$ AS THERE IS KIDS WANDERING ABOUT ALL NIGHT AND ONE EVEN WENT INTO THE LOUNGE WHICH CAN BE SEE FROM THE RECEPTION AND HAD A SH-T ON ONE OF THE COUCHES (COULD BE THERE WAY OF SAYING WHAT THEY THOUGHT OF THE HOTEL)AND IT WAS STILL THERE AT 9-30 IN THE MORNING
THE 50YR OLD MANAGER 5 FOOT TALL WITH SPIKED UP HAIR WANDERS ABOUT THINKING HES 16 AGAIN WHAT A SIGHT ITS BETTER WATCHING HIM THAN THE ENTERTAINMENT WHICH IS RUBBISH
ALL IN ALL 1 OF THE BEST HOLIDAYS IVE HAD (I DONT THINK)
WELL THOMPSON IF THIS IS ONE OF YOUR 4 STAR HOTELS I WOULD HATE TO STOP IN ONE OF YOUR 2 STARS
I THINK ILL STICK WITH AIRTOURS

After reading some of the coments on the website we were very apprehensive to say the least.we visited this Hotel in June for a fornight
When we arrived at the Hotel to check in we were in a group of 10 people which included 2 elderly couples a 3 disabled people.
our first impression of the hotel was a very rude receptionist who demanded payment of the new Eco tax before anyone got a key for thier rooms.
as you can guess this caused chaos, everyone had thier money hidden in the bottom of bags, in money belts etc.
and yes you've guessed it the local pickpockets have already cottoned on, and in the confusion 3 people were robbed.
When this was reported to the reps we were told that this Hotel has never had a problem with thefts, but we were told by other guests that this has been going on since the introduction of the Eco tax.
Thomsons Reps insisted that nobody else had been robbed it was just "old people are always losing things"
We were also told by the Police that this is happening at many hotels on the island and have asked tour operators to warn people, but as yet no warning are being given.
So after a bad start we decided to make the best of the Holiday.
It said in a couple of reports that the staff were rude and unfriendly but in our opinion that is not the case apart from 1 person on reception all the staff were great and worked very hard. They did at times get harrsed but this was down to a lack off staff behind the Bars and in the resturant.
When we were there the Hotel was not anywhere near full and you did have to queue for drinks and food what it will be like at peak times I would not like to think about.
The Pool area is very small and no where near big enough if you want a Sunbed you will need to get up very early most of the best spots with a bit of shade are taken by 7:00.
The area round the pool was also very dirty and several people complained about seeing Rats and several areas stunk of Cat pee and the pads on the sunbeds were filthy.
The room we stayed in was spotless and eveything worked.
However in Room next door where another couple from our party stayed was a different story. It was mucky and stank of Cigars. The beds were full of sand and did'nt appear to have been changed.
The fridge leaked water and rattled all night, water kept pouring though the lights from the room above and nothing worked. When they complained they were told there where no other rooms and that one would be cleaned, which it was. within 10 mins, the cleaner was there and the room was sorted but the leak was never solved after several visits the Plumber gave up.
Entertainment was rubbish Paul & Anna do thier best but they have'nt a clue they sometimes put on a good act put only if they can get plenty of people to play bingo to pay for it.
There is no way that this Hotel is a 4* I have stayed in better 2* the only good points are the staff because the Management of the place could'nt give a dam

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from 26th April - 10th May 2002. It was an allocation on arrival - and we were both pleased with the hotel. I must comment that we were among only a few younger couples, but the friends we made were first class. Our room had air conditioning, a fringe, TV, Hairdryer and safe. Plenty of clean towels as and when required. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The reps were 'well meaning', but rarely of use. Ana and Paul were great - Ana's attempt at bingo was most entertaining.
The sunbeds by the pool are not to be reserved, but people are there at 6am to place their towels - not very British !!! There is also an Army mission to get a decent seat for the entertainment. There are pillars throughout the main entertainment area, which makes full views a major problem. We did notice a few groups having their dinner in sittings, so one couple would always keep the seats for the rest!!!
Palma Nova is a nice resort. The Stadium Bar has regular tribute bands and Elvis on a Thursday is well worth a look, as is 'Just Britany'.
Magalluf is a 25 minute walk from the hotel and a taxi from Magalluf cost about 4 euros (

Palma Nova Palace; one of the best if not the best hotel in Palma Nova.

Both of us really enjoyed the holiday to the point it was our 4 time returning.

However the hotel is in need of repair in that the doors all need "closers" to stop them BANGING 2AM AND 5AM. The bathroom need updating and the balcony areas require a lick of paint.

But the staff made up for the above, Ester the bar manager is fantastic very welcoming; the restaurant manager is as welcoming as ever.

The food was a little repetitive at lunch times but the evening meals were excellent.

All in all if I was returning to Mallorca next year I would book the Palma Nova Palace
