The Aguamarina dominates the area, overlooking the beach. It is mainly an all inclusive hotel but we were based on half board. Food was ok, same kinds of things every day but we always found something to eat. My big gripe about the restaurant is that if you are AI, you can have a drink, but there is no facilities to even purchase one on half board so we had to make do with a glass of water with our evening meal. The price of drinks in the hotel weren

I am such a snob and I always book 4 star holidays - however this time we booked a 3 star and we went to the resort of Arenal de Castell in Menorca. We stayed at the agaumarina and had an absolutely amazing time. The resort staff were brilliant and we have never gone to the same hotel twice - but we are in the process of taking 2 other families with us next May. We loved it!!! Stunning beach right on the doorstep of the hotel - roll on next May!!!

We had a great time at the Aguamarina and would definately recommend it. It is a very friendly place to go. The only thing we found to complain about was the food, this really lets the hotel down (very repetitive), chips and pizza every day for lunch and chips every day for evening meal, the odd potatoes on a couple of days, not a great variety. All inclusive consists of breakfast, then the drinks start at 11am - 11pm, lunch, snacks from 4pm include biscuits and cheese and ham sandwiches (no snacks prior to this apart from ice cream)then dinner at 7pm. Beware if you are fussy! The hotel itself is lovely with a fantastic view, we stayed in A block overlooking the swimming pool, no complaints. There are 3 main areas for the swimming pools, plenty of room. No parasols - had to buy one. Two childrens play areas one with a sandpit. Beautiful gardens around the hotel. Daytime activities very good and good variety with a great animation team, keep up the good work Steve and Manuel. Tribute bands mainly for evening entertainment and also some dance acts. Resort was very quite. Lovely beach and views. We found the shop at the hotel was the cheapest around. Some bars, restaurants and shops about 10 mins away and 2 small childrens amusement parks a short walk away in different directions. You can go on the train ride which we found was a waste of time at 6 euros each round trip and you can get a bus into Mahon at selected times which makes a nice change and you can go on a boat ride from there. Overall a fantastic place for a holiday.

We have just come back from an 11 night holiday to this lovely resort. We had a fab time, our two young children of 3 and 4 throughly enjoyed themselves. The hotel is so close to the beach, prob around 20/30 steps max to go down to get there from hotel A.
The entertainment was really varied and would suit all, the mini disco went down extremely well with my two kids!
The hotel food is fine, enough choice for all, what to be expected for a 3 star hotel. I would say the daily breads were quite dry and sometimes the food repeated itself a couple of nights in a row. But, honestly you wont go wrong here. Lovely resort, good beach, good entertainment. The staff really put in loads of effort and have so much energy.
We went half board but wished id gone for the all inclusive deal when we booked as its 18 euros per person per day when your in resort, still worth it tho as we spent loads eating out for lunch etc.
There are always minor things to moan about but unless your paying thousands upon thousands there will always be something that wont be perfect.

OK... Wow! This hotel was absolutely superb! I was very pleased that Simon (3) Ella (6) Katie (11) loved the Children's' Entertainment, and since these children are very shy, I was surprised that they enjoyed participating so much!
The hotel itself looks like a few blocks of flats, but once you enter this baby, oh boy. You will be in for the shock of your life. Not 3*, but 5* quality. The rooms were extremely comfortable, air-conditioning was a bonus since the weather in '09 was extraordinarily hot.
The beach was perfect, it's medium-sized so the kids can wonder off without getting lost.
Nicole (15), well, there wasn't really much for her to do except chill out in the adults' jacuzzi. But however, she met a little holiday romance and wants to go back to this hotel for the luxury and for her new boyfriend.
My only down sight though, is the staff. Certain staff are considerably rude and snappy. I asked for another alcoholic beverage and the bar man said "Haven't you had enough?" in a very rude manner.
But on the other hand, most staff are very friendly and willing to help you with any need, it's just that some staff spoil the effect of this amazing hotel.
I will be definitely coming back here this year (2010) with more friends and family.
So next year there will be 5 adults and 7 children scattered across 4 rooms. That's no problem considering the hotel rooms are very spacious and airy. We had the luck of being in a sea-view rooms for only ten euros extra per room. Bargain! since the sea-view is a delight to the eye.
I cannot wait to come back to this hotel, but I hope the rude staff will get some lessons to learn their manners!

Overall 9.9/10. -0.01 due to the unfriendly staff!

Recently returned from 2 weeks half board at this hotel. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 1 six year old.The check in quick and efficient. The hotel is split into two blocks A and B.We stayed in block B our room consisted of two single beds and a bunk bed.Which made the room very small. We had to lower the top bunk down as my son would have hit his head whilst getting out of bed.The hotel has 5 pools. There is a large childrens pool with a small pool attatched overlooked by block B.There is a another large pool with and adult only whirl pool overlooked by block A.There is another childrens pool behind the childrens club building. All the pools were clean however there are NO parasols and few tables. There is a childrens play area which consists of climbing frames, zip wire ,slide and climbing wall. Our son enjoyed these very much. The hotel foyers and communal places are very clean and gardens well tended. We ate in the restaurant located in block B.This is a bit like a works canteen.Breakfast was repetative with very little change. This consisted of cold meats, cheese, yogurt, cereals, salads, toast, various breads&croissants. The hot food consisted of bacon, eggs, hash browns, tomatoes, beans and sausages.Dinner was well cooked with choice of fish and other meats.A selection of pasta and various other stuff. The choice of food for children was limited.A caraffe of wine is a good buy !Drinks can be expensive. However you can upgrade to an all inclusive basis from 18 euros per day for an adult and 9 euros a day for children. You can also rent a fridge from reception at a cost of 2.30 euros a day well worth it !!.Entertainment was low key( No hassle to join in)events were geared to both adults and children.Evening entertainment started with a childrens mini disco.A parrot show on some occassions and tribute shows on alternative evenings for the adults. The ones we saw were very good. The hotel has excellent views of the bay especially from the bar in B block. The beach was accessed from the hotel via a sloping walkwayat the side of block B.On the beach you can hire loungers and parasols at a price!!For the more active you can hire pedaloes and kayaks.Staff are efficient and courtious. There is a shop selling parasols and a small supermarket in the holtel complex. The supermarket is reasonably priced but there are others in the resort aswell.

having just returned from a great holiday at the hotel aquamarina we found the hotel very clean and the staff very friendly in all areas...from the reception staff to the waiters and waitresses and also the cleaners. The food was brilliant..plenty of choice for everyone with a very varied menu every night to suit all tastes. The location of the hotel is fantastic..the bay is stunning and the sea is very clear and clean and safe for all. The only thing i would say is that the hotel would benefit from having some umbrellas around the pools as there is no shade. The entertainment was good, the animation staff tried very hard and there were some nights with professional artists which were very good.

We arrived at the hotel very late after a chaotic time at the airport (airline going bust)and the hotel left the bar and restaurant open for us,which made us feel so welcome to start with.

We had a wonderful time and will visit many more times to this friendly, clean, lovely hotel.

The only problem people had was that the hotel was split in two A & B section, the A section was much quieter and had a better outlook so always try for that section

The Gym was the only disappointment for us, so if your looking forward to a good workout, find something else to do!
