I went to club hotel aguamarina back in august with my husband and two children aged 12 and 10 years. We had a fantastic time. Yes the restaurant does get crowded but you soon get used to finding your way around. There was plenty of choice at meal times and we always found something we liked.
Hiring sunbeds on the beach is expensive but worth it. The beach is superb - just a stroll through the pleasant hotel gardens (down hill).
There is a little bar in the gardens where you can go to cool down when you want a break from the beach with
pleasant staff.
Entertainment is quite good. The kids loved it. Four Tops tribute band were fab.
Hotel room cramped but very clean.
Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Arenal is very quiet but there are a few good restaurants and beautiful views out to sea.
Have booked to go again next year (first time we've gone to the same place twice) but this time have booked with airtours so that we can have a sea view from the hotel room.

We were there in aug 2003 we would never go there again, hotel was big but rooms were disgusting dark smelly and horrible. We had to complain on numerous occasions my son wouldn't sleep in his bunk then we realised why, his mattress was rotten, stunk of urine and was all ripped, had to ask for clean linen ,toilet was leaking, room stunk of sewers.
Water sprinklers kept us awake by going off at 3.30 in the morning till 5 am,food wasn't too bad ,staff were good, but wouldn't reccomend it and if anyone was there at the same time please get intouch.

We booked the holiday last minute off TV Travel Shop, then read various reviews on the internet. Despite the bad reviews we decided to keep an open mind and go ahead with the holiday - big mistake !
Our initial impression after entering the hotel and checking in was the similarity to an airport departure lounge - hot, stuffy and cramped.
Next it was off to our room - this is when the heat really hits you. As we walked down the corridor to our room, we passed several rooms with their doors open to the corridor showing the families inside sleeping ! It was like walking into a sauna and this was 10 o'clock at night. There is a real serious problem with air circulation - there is none.
The room / bathroom was ok, basic & clean but in need of modernisation. The glass in the doors onto the balcony was very thin - I'd say dangerously thin if a young child was to fall onto it. Our first (and only !) night, none of us got any sleep - it was just too hot & stuffy.
Breakfast was ok, usual continental selection of foods but very busy. The staff were friendly enough.
There were a couple of swimming pools. I remember reading that if you can't see the bottom of the pool clearly then question whether or not you should be swimming in it - we couldn't see the bottom of the pool !
The hotel has good access to a fantastic sandy beach, shallow warm water great for the kids.
We weren't really happy with the prospect of spending another six nights at the hotel so decided to cut our losses and checked out and moved into some self catering apartments just down the road. Although these were a star rating lower, they were fantastic and we ended up having a great holiday.
We won't be staying at the hotel Aguamarina again.

We had a FANTASTIC week back in June 2003, the weather was lovely and the hotel was excellent. My 2 kids (9&4) had a great time, they only went to the kids clubs once, they were too busy! The restaurant does get busy, but come on, doesn't your kitchen resemble a war zone after a Sunday roast? And they are cooking for hundreds!! If you use your common sense you will be fine, if the toasters busy, then have something else, you wont die if you don't have your toast, live a little, you're on holiday! We didn't have ANY problems at all at mealtimes, & my 2 can be very fussy eaters, there was something for everyone. We were fortunate to have a ground floor room overlooking the bay,BEAUTIFUL is the only word to describe it each morning. The evening entertainment was wicked, yeah the mini disco does begin to wear you down by the end of your stay, & you find yourself humming the tune during the day, even though you haven't got a clue what you are actually singing about, as most of it is in Spanish! The waiters are all very courteous, and make a fuss of POLITE kids, but, be warned, if yours tend to be rowdy, keep them away from the bar areas, they will not be welcome. The trips were OK, a little pricey we thought, but good for a spot of sightseeing & shopping. All in all we had a fab time, and I am seriously considering re-booking for next year, the only difference will be - it will be for 2 weeks instead of 1.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in aguamarina hotel in june this year. We loved it. The position of the hotel is great if you dnt mind walking downhill. The beach was in a lovely cove and there was plenty of room to sunbathe. The food was ok, not great but there was quite a selection. The rooms were quite small but there was only two of us so it werent to bad, plus you dnt spend all your time in there neway.
We didnt watch the entertainment as it didnt sound to good, but the small bar served drinks and snacks during the day and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Overall an excellent holiday for families, but can be busy at peak times and also not for people with any walking diffuclties as the beach is down a steep slope.
7/10

This is as open minded a review as I can give, so please take the time to read it and hopefully it will provide you with good insight once you arrive. First off, lets get the niggles out the way. Once you get there and book in at reception you will be asked to pay what the hotel call an "Eco tax", in other words they charge you for them to keep the beach clean, whatever your beliefs on this, you have to pay it and it is 1 euro per day, per person over 16 which in our case was 28Euros which is around

After reading reports on this Hotel, after I had booked, I was very worried. My first impressions from the outside was Prisoner Cell Block H. As you walk up the steps and into the large reception you soon forget you first impressions. The hotel was very clean and the reception staff were very efficient and we were immediately shown to our room overlooking a very large and impressive swimming pool.
The room itself was very small, but we soon settled in. There was plenty of cupboard space for storage. The rooms were cleaned every day and you also had clean towels daily. The biggest disapointment is that the rooms had no air conditioning and were very hot and stuffy at night. Do hire a fan. They use a key card system which not only opens your door it also turns on your electricity when placed into it's key card holder. So when you leave your room and take your card the electricity turns off. Not much fun when you have hired a fridge. Take an old plastic type credit card as you may be able to get around this, (remember to remove it before the cleaners come round).
Now time for the mad rush at evening meal time we thought! Not at all. The pace was very relaxing. Over all the standard of the evening meals was very good and NOT chips, chips and chips. There was a wide range and something different on each of the 14 nights we was there. On a negative point they could of caterred a bit more for the younger children. Breakfast time was a bit more of a free for all but causing no real problems. The biggest pain being the queue for the coffee machines and the toasters.
The kids clubs offered by JMC was excellent(Thank you naughty Nicky and loopy Laura (sorry Lollipop Laura)).
The entertainment offered by the hotel was very good in the day time with plenty to do to stop you getting bored. They offer volley ball, tennis, table tennis, pistol shooting, rifle shooting, football, etc, etc, the list goes on. The evening entertainment was a bit different. The Beatles and the Four Tops were very good. On the other evenings the day time crew take over and try and entertain. The Moulon Rouge was very good. They mime everything and their comedy was well @#%$!!!PLEASE DO NOT get ripped of with their bingo. They charge you 1.5 euros per ticket and the prize is a bottle of plonk. They tell you this after you have bought you tickets. They also make this last nearly an hour. There is a mini disco for the kids and they enjoyed it and joined in, but is exactly the same every evening and only lasts for half an hour.
The location of the Hotel is excellent over looking the sea.Down through the hotel gardens and down a few steps and you are on the very impressive beach. The resort itself is very quiet with a few gift shops and restaurants, and the scenery is stunning, with a beautifull beach and clear waters, you can even see the fish. You can catch the local bus right outside the hotel and this will take you into the capital Mahon. There is also a local bus to Fornells where you can spend a few hours.DO NOT get ripped of by getting on one of the very pretty little trains that takes you on a very short journey and charge you lots of euros for the pleasure. The sunbeds on the beach are also expensive.
Just outside the hotel there is a very expensive supermarket, but 400 metres down the road there is a spar shop which is a lot cheaper. Next door to the Spar, there is M1 pizza's. Happy hour between 8pm and 10pm with 2 pint's for the price of 1. The pizzas are good too.
Over all we found this to be a very relaxing holiday in a very nice quite area.

Well to start off Direct Holidays said it had 244 rooms which is not that big, the hotel actually had over 400!
It was loud noisy cramped in the rooms and no A/C.
Food was terrible the only good thing was the beach near the hotel.
HORRID place. My advice: DO NOT GO!!!!!
