Location
Dining room large and airy, tables a little crammed in,food well presented and o.k.something for every one. Tables are cleared so quickly, spoons taken whilst pausing for breath when eating soup.
Drink and snacks very expensive in hotel.
Beach lovely, a walk down steps or there are alternative ways down there, via the roadway. Great snack bar on beach.
Try out the Irish Bar near by. and the English bar in the square, made very Welcome every where we went on island.
Would go again, but might try another resort.

I travel extensively with work and have stayed in top hotels, yet this is one of the best holidays I have ever had.
Having said that there are two accomodation blocks, one which looks very tired and having a room on this side near the evening entertainment would of been a nightmare especially as we had our one year old son with us.
We were situated in the new block and had a sea view room, which was worth every penny and made the holiday, waking up looking over the beautiful bay was wonderful.
We were lucky with the weather, if it rains I am not sure there would be a lot to do.
The swimming pools are fantastic and there was always a sunbed available which mad a refershing change. The hotel runs its own creche which is free of charge for babies from one to three years of age.
Would definately go again

The entertainment while not are scene was good enough and our 16 year old son had a great time night and day.
A great place for young families. A place we shall visit again.

The first year we had a bad view in block B but we did't know any better being our 1st time there. In 2004 we paid extra and had a sea view which was brilliant having two young children we were able to sit on the balcony when they were sleeping with a wonderful view.
We have booked again for 2007 late Aug with another couple who have not been abroad before.
It is a good hotel to start with because the family entertainment is ok for children and adults, food ok can get repetitive over two weeks, staff pleasant and hotel location great, the sea perfect for little ones although I have been told that jelly fish do appear if its rough out at sea.(Never seen any though)
A cafe called "The Good Bridge Cafe" was so nice that we went regually for lunch, hope its still there.
Not loads to do if you stay for 2wks unless you hire a car but up the road there is a bouncy castle and play area that the children can go in, can't remember how much it was, age range about 3yrs to 10.
We have booked this hotel in Menorca again because we are going to Bulgaria in May and wanted a holiday that we new would be good if Bulgaria was rubbish.
Hope this review has helped, will let you know what its like after Aug 2007.

On arriving at the hotel you could see it was a nice clean hotel, although the building itself is not overly impressive it looks quite basic, all being red brick built.
We never had to pay any extra when we arrived for the beach, as some reviews have stated, but we did pay for a safety deposit box which cost 22 euros plus a 6 euro refundable deposit.
Our room was cramped due to us having an extra bed for our 3yr old and a cot for our 19month old. But we didn,t spend all day in there so it made no difference. One thing though is that the room was made up daily and the bathroom etc was sparkly clean!
The food in the hotel was lovely something different each night and plenty of choice. There was always a potato (eg chips/mash/roasties etc), a pasta dish, meat and fish dishes, soup and lots of salad stuff. Along with buns and desserts. Meal times were staggered so not everyone was trying to eat at the same time, but they were still a little busy but you didn't queue behind more than 3 people. You have to buy your drinks in the dining area of an evening. Breakfast time there is tea and coffee machines. They must have more toasters now as some reviews mention queues for the toaster but we didn't see any queues. Breakfast has lots of choice with cereal, croissants, cake, toast, cooked breakfast, cold meats etc. Something for everyone.
The entertainment in the hotel wasn't too bad, there was a mini disco every night at 8.30 which kept the children amused although this was the same songs in the same order every night. But the kids love it so you can't complain.
The adult entertainment was ok, whilst there they had a blues Brothers tribute act on who were ok, a Beatles tribute act who were really good and other entertainment organised by the reps which was not too good.
The drinks in the hotel are very pricey.
There isn't alot to do in the actual resort of Arenal d'en castell there are a few pubs and restaurants and quite a few spar shops and supermarkets. Down the road in Coves Noves there is a bouncy castle area with inflatables and trampolines etc which you can pay for the kids to go on. It is 4 euros. There is also a train which takes you round the resort it lasts for about 40 mins and is 6 euros return ticket, or you can pay 4 euros for a single ticket and get dropped off half way. This train picks up outside the hotel at the stop there.
The beach is beautiful it is in a cove, you can reach it from the hotel but you have to go down steps to get to it. You can hire pedalos on the beach and there are loungers and parasols for hire too, but I didn't hire them so I don't know about cost.
There is a lovely snack bar on the beach where we took the children each day for lunch, I can recommend the cheese and onion toasties!! Yummy!!!
The hotel has loungers to use for free and there are around 4 pools, 2 kids and 2 adult pools. They were all FREEZING, but they were nice to dip in when the weather got hot!!
All in all we had a great holiday and I would definitely go again, whilst there we didn't here one complaint about the hotel, so if you are thinking of booking up I would definitely recommend it for families. Enjoy yourself!!! We did!!!

The hotel was spotless, and staff were cleaning from 7 in the morning right up to 10 at night. They were also friendly and greeted us with an "ola" every morning - they also all spoke perfect English, so no problem with the lingo (shame on us Brits!)
I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet, picturesque holiday with plenty of opportunity for walks and sunbathing. The all-day trip around the island is also a must if you want to explore more; however, if we had planned ahead, we would have definitely hired a car to find those small coves dotted around the lisland.
We would definitely return to the Hotel Aguamarina.
