We stayed in caleta de fuste which is a quite and relaxing area for familes and couples. By about 12pm there is no car to be seen on the road. yeah maybbe the odd one but not many. You might have to get a taxi into the town centre it all depends on where you are staying. In town there are ots of bars, resturants and a couple of chineases. There is one in particular which we thougght was exellant. It is very clean i couldnt see a fault with it. The beach is excellent because you can go scuba diving, wind surfing and lots more activity's. it is shapee like a bay and has lots of fish in the water ranging from small to massive. Don't worry there harmless because as soon as you go near them they shoot away. You couldn.t fault the place and because there is so much to do and see i think we would need more then 2 weeks.

Again, the smell of sewerage from the drains in the streets was overwhelming and there were alot of street sellers, the beach was beautiful apart from the shore line which was very rocky and cut your feet.

This is our 5th trip to the resort over the last 7 or 8 years and we would probably go again - not to the Barcelo Club El Castillo though, can recommend the small and friendly Castillo Playa apartments.

There are many good restaurants, La Paella on site, La Bodeguita (Italian), La Molina and Tipico Canarian) (Canarian).

Would advise car hire as there are many unspoilt beaches and villages on the island.

The resort itself is compact with three or four distinct commercial areas - Centro, Castillo, Monte Castillo (up a very steep hill at the back of the main resort). Each has an abundance of restaurants and bars with none seeming overly busy during late January.

Restaurants that we would recommend would be the usual *“Fado Rock Steakhouse“ , “Syrtaki Greek Restaurant” and the fabulous and always Spanish packed “Tapas” bar across the road from Broncemar. Just look out for the big green illuminated TAPAS sign Fabulous food in a friendly informal restaurant

Bars in resort where all good but a special mention must go to “Flower of Scotland Bar” where the host John is a very pleasant guy and the evening entertainment is lively and always fun. The “Top Bar” next door to Flower of Scotland run by Paul and Victoria (another lovely couple) is also a cracking little bar with a great DJ specialisng in 60’s, 70’s and 80’s disco and soul sounds. Both very enjoyable and friendly places that made our stay in resort better than it might have been with the poor weather encountered.

* As a footnote, please check your bills at the Fado Rock Steakhouse as on the three occasions we used the restaurant they added additional or more expensive items to the bill, first night it was for a starter we didn’t order, second time for a drink we never ordered and on the third occasion charged us for a different item of food about 4 euros more expensive. They were none too happy when I had pulled them up about it on each occasion as I fully suspected there was a wee scam going on by creaming between 2 and 5 euros per order of everyone. Once or twice is understandable but three times in a week smacks of scam. Two other couples we met had also been charged for extra drinks but paid up and never raised the subject. Exactly what the waiters are wanting. Big Shame as it’s a slick run joint with great food.

Cala de Fuste was a lovly resort it could do with a few more bars.

There are plenty of of places to eat and not bad value.

The beach was very nice once we got there, would return to Cala de Fuste but pick a hotel that was a bit closer to the beach.
