Beaches

These are beaches to die for!! I cannot imagine better beaches anywhere in the world. The beach is just 100 yds from hotel and from there you can walk along miles and miles of fantastic beaches with breathtaking dunes and smaller pretty coves.
The sea is wonderful to swim in being warm and clean although sometimes can be a bit rough.
There is quite a lot of building work going on in the area of the hotel, but it didn't spoil our enjoyment of the location.

Lovely beaches, very quiet, limited shopping. Sea very clean and blue, totally unspoilt or commercialised.

Costa Calma is a very quite resort so its really best to stay at a hotel with a little entertainment. We drove down to the next resort which was a little more lively. The beach in Costa Calma is ok but not the best on the island.
Just one good tip, we were told that a taxi fare to Costa Calma from the airport would cost in the region of £20 but its a 40 minute drive (we drove) and therefore I would say it would cost much more than £20 so a car might be a good option. We paid only £135 for our car for the week which took us to and from Costa Calma and around the island for the week, so not a bad deal.

The resort was very quiet compared to Corralejo
but still very nice. It is ideal for people looking for a relaxing holiday who don't like to venture from the hotel

The resort of Costa Calma is fairly quiet so if you looking for lots of nightlife a different resort on the island may suit you better.

Costa Calma is fairly underdeveloped.
To be honest there is'nt an awful lot to do, but that suits us! There is a lot of shrubland, hotels, and a few shops and bars/restaurants, but if you want to go to livelier parts of the area the taxis are very reasonable, and there is also a good bus service.
The beach is mainly sandy but you do have to make your way over rocks to get into the sea in most places. However, the inconvenience is well worth it, the sea is completely clear and even close to shore you occasionally see fish swimming by.
There is a small market in the resort twice a week where you can buy fake handbags, have your hair braided and buy african wood carvings.
If you don't like the hustle and bustle of large resorts then this is for you. Enjoy!!

The resort is very modern but has not been overbuilt(yet) and i hope it doesn't. if you want night life then Costa Calma is not for you. There is a small shopping precinct 200 yards down the road, mainly touristy shops. I would think anyone self catering in the area would have problems getting a varied diet, as the shops didnt seem to sell much more than cheese, bread and bacon. A lot of these were German, so it was difficult to see what it was unless you can read German. The resort is very clean, the roads are all new and everywhere has palm trees and flowers growing around. Very pretty.

The resort is geared towards German tourists. We could only find 2 bars near to where we were situated. It was very boring at night due to the whole resort beinf all-inclusive. No bars or restaurants to try out.
We were told that the ratio of tourists was 85% German but it felt more like 95%.
We´ve been once and had a nice rest but we won´t be returning in a hurry.
