If you don’t mind the noise from the main bar area in the evenings then the rooms close to reception/around the big main pool are ideal as their close to everything, pool, daytime entertainment, restaurant, reception, bar etc
Rooms further back behind the gym are better if you have smaller children and prefer not to be disturbed by the evening noise. The pools further back are quieter and the middle pool has a nice splash play area for younger children.
If you have rooms on the lower level you do hear footsteps of people walking around above you.

Cleanliness wasn’t even an issue...we didn’t notice anything that looked unhygienic or mingin!
The entertainment was...eh.... Funny! A couple of guys juggled and changed their clothes all at the same time and a wee cowboy dude balanced everything he could on his chin...sun loungers, tables, totally fab. Beach was too sandy (I know that it a mental thing to say) the sand was so hot you couldn’t walk on it. That’s the only bad thing I can say about this place!

Maspalomas is a fab resport. It's quite upmarket so it's pricy for drinks and food particularly if you had children with you. The beach is like something you'd see in a movie and the area is very safe with police and security maintaining a very discreet presence.

We did not venture into Maspalomas apart from a Thomsons excursion to ride the camels. I think the hotels and the area around the dunes looked very nice. If my hotel had been in that part of Maspalomas I would have preferred it.
The Faro Shopping Centre was much, much nicer than the Yumbo Centre.I would advise against a visit to the Yumbo Centre. The few shops that are there are very tacky. It also didn't feel very safe.
Playa del Ingles is O.K. for lively entertainment and only a short distance in a taxi. Finally I must say that the taxis were really cheap and readily available.

Maspalomas is a lovely are to stay the El Palmeras bungalows werer realy well situated, two minutes to the shopping centre, with bars and restaurants, half an hour walk to the beach or 3 Euros in a taxi. The golf course next door. Minin golf for the kids, with trampolenes. etc.
|I would definately go back again, Maspalomas is a lovely quite area just outside Playa de Ingles, which is a short taxi ride away. We had no problems, and the weather was good, sun out around 11.30 and back in around 5.00 couldn't complain.

The resort was clean and the beach was of very good standard. The sand dunes are amazing - don't walk over unless you are prepared to be out for hours. There is more to do in Playas Del Ingles - only shops are in the Faro 2 and of course there is the market. Maspalomas entertainment not very good for young people suit families with children. Probably just enough. Restaurants not many but good food. El Torro excellent.

You can walk to some nice shopping centres in about 20 mins along the front but I would strongly recommend a car to explore further.
The sand dunes are fantastic and best reached through the RIU hotel on the other side of Maspolamas.
We visited Puerto du Morgan on our stay and this is probably the only other place on the island to rival melonaras.

This resort is clean and very peaceful, if you want the bright lights and disco's a short 3e taxi ride to play de ingles is where you'll find them. A 20-30 min walk to the maspalomas beach (EL FARO)is a newly built boulavard with shops (a bit more up market) resturants/bars some with light entertainment. Holliday world which has a fair bars etc. and a motown show there with or without dinner, and tempin bowlin you cant miss it you will see the ferris wheel, also there is the aqua park within short distance by taxi.
