If you don’t mind the noise from the main bar area in the evenings then the rooms close to reception/around the big main pool are ideal as their close to everything, pool, daytime entertainment, restaurant, reception, bar etc
Rooms further back behind the gym are better if you have smaller children and prefer not to be disturbed by the evening noise. The pools further back are quieter and the middle pool has a nice splash play area for younger children.
If you have rooms on the lower level you do hear footsteps of people walking around above you.

Meloneros is a very nice resort offering a good selection of shops and restaurants. The impression we got was of a more select safe type of resort with very good class hotels and no lager louts. We didn't use the beach so can't comment. Would definately return.

Maspalomas is a very clean resort but not much to do in the entertainment side of it.
The beach is lovley with little bars dotted along the sand which is great for refreshments.
Definatley will go back.

Maspalomas is a quiet resort, yet plenty of entertainment to be had, particularly in the "Faro" area. There is a good variety of food on offer, all well prepared and served, with friendly waiters and bar staff everywhere.
The new resort of Meloneras (25 minute walk to the Faro and then 15 minutes north-west along the coast) is quite attractive and worth a visit.
A pleasant day out can be had at the inland village of Fataga. The views there, and on the journey, if you have a good head for heights, are spectacular. There are two or three bar/restaurants. We'd recommend the "El Albaricoque" for a drink and a meal and a terrific view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. We travelled on a service bus from the stop outside the entrance to the golf club at Maspalomas (5 minutes walk from Green Golf). The journey was about 45 minutes.

Maspalomas is nice and quiet - plenty of taxis if you want to visit other resorts.
Great beach/sand dunes.
Enough shops - great market on Wednesdays & Saturdays.
Its the one holiday were you don't put on weight (lots of walks)

The beach is very beautiful and there are two beaches you can go to but yet again you have to get a taxi to the beach.
The night life was ok but they play the same music everynight. Some food places are very nice but we went to one and it was horrible.
The food wasn't cooked we went on a safari as promised we would go on camels for 40 euros each bit we saw no camels and didn't enjoy it at all.
Yet again food included but was horrible the bar crawl is good I recommend that I won't be going back to Gran Canaria as the time I stayed put me off for good but at least I can say I have tried the place.

The resort was just fine and our location excellent ie away from the resort itself. Unfortunately this created a trap for the families and children who found it difiicult to escape. We were most disappointed in the Portland bland response to our first complaint about our many Thomson holidays in the past. In particular, portland did not properly address the dispaity between the clear brochure claims and the reality. Do not visit this hotel in holiday times. I am currently contacting TUI head office. You have been warned!!!!!

Maspalomas is a relaxing resort, not too noisy with plenty of bars and resturants especially on the Maspalomas beach.
The Faro 2 shopping centre has bars and resturants to suit all tastes and holliday world is a short taxi ride away with a fairground bowling alley and bars.

Quieter than the nosy resorts of Playa de Ingles and Puerto Rico but still with enough to keep you amused and the shopiing in Faro is cheaper than the airport!
