The rooms furnishings and decoration looked tired old and dated! Also the walls were very thin and it was hard to get to sleep as voices could be heard quite clearly.
Even the pool area was considerably smaller than most other hotels we have stayed at.
The food was ok but the show cooking was disappointing as it seemed to be the same things every night and sometimes the chef wasn't even there!
This hotel needs a good refurbishment.

The food once you had got into the restaurant was very good with a very good choice of dishes. The down side was the queue to get in to the restaurant. If you are about to visit this hotel try the patio restaurant for breakfast, the same food but not so much of a queue. However this would not put me off returning to this hotel in the future.
There were always lots of sun loungers, but if you wanted a spot in the sun with an umbrella you needed to put out the dreaded towels by around 8:30am.
All in all we had a great holiday.!!

While the staff were generally both helpful and pleasant, they appeared to be under strict orders to clear the bar and lounge areas as soon as possible.
The food at the buffet style restaurant while palatable was again not up to the previous standard we had received. They have also done away with the a la carte waiter service which had also been an option. Also the La Choza Restaurant outdoors seemed to serve a cold breakfast for those interested in having a traditional fry, I believe it was due to the fact that they transported the cooked food initally from the downstairs kitchen.
Further in the outdoor lounge area and in the seating areas on the whole the standard of upholstery was poor either grubby or uncomfortable compared to what was there previously.
Again the room while clean and large and methodically cleaned daily by pleasant chambermaids seemed to have seen better days, the bath in fact had a large chunk of enamel missing under the showerhead.
While overrall we enjoyed our holiday the Gran Canaria Princess has lost some of and it's lustre and is no longer in the standard of other Princess hotels, which we would not hesitate to return to.

The Hotel is yes, very clean, but the food was not very good, very basic. The location is not to bad, a stroll to the beach, however you have to dodge all the time share reps. The hotel staff are friendly, and the maids are lovley. Very poor enterainment, we both went out every night(very Chessey)
We have never been on a Platinum Holiday with Thomsons, and we can say that we probably never will. The customer service on behave of thomsons is shocking, however this is an ok holiday if you want a bit of a break.

The pool is well cleaned every day and the staff do not rush you to leave the pool area at the end of the day however you may feel you should leave when they start to put the empty sun beds away stacking them while your still sun bathing and you do need to be up early to get the spot. You may want to sun bathe at the pool area and the bar in the centre of the pool is also expensive if you just want a cold soft drink.
Many people have stated it is a German hotel I have to agree, there was more Germans then any other while I was at this hotel, the decor was clean and rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels if I remembered to place them on the floor that morning.
The bar prices within the hotel was expensive I was paying about the same as I would at home in my local bar for a pint(spanish lager) as for the food well if you like fish you will love this hotel other wise its veal, pork,or salad. The breakfast I was not to happy with on any day of my stay here, the same thing every morning and never once a good old English sausage, I didn't however have to wait more then 5 mins to get into to eat on any day.
The hotel entertainment was good at night and I did enjoy this. The nights I did go watch the show the only thing is it only on for 1 hour each night.
I would not go back to this hotel again.

Just after starting to unpack there was a knock at the door- a free bottle of champagne and a welcome letter.
The food was good, not exceptional but certainly satisfactory. The drink was quite expensive and generally we drank out- at the irish centre mostly.
Pool clean and good. Not heated unless by the sun.
Only experienced the entertainment twice, a dancing girls show < good> and a quiz < in about 4 languages, odd>
Had a good time, Playa del Ingles is a good resort and this hotel is a good place to come back to after exploring it.

The hotel is in reach of the many different centres and it is a nice stroll down to the beach.
Can't really comment on the hotel entertainment as we only watched it once. We preferred to go out and about visiting bars.
The food was hot also plenty of choice and we did'nt have to queue once. Would go back.

The hotel is in a brilliant location only a few minutes to the Kasbah and beach. Supermarkets and bars can be found by walking 400metres in both directions.
The rooms are spotless other reviews are correct that the furniture is not new but it is nice and the walls were freshly painted. We got clean towels everyday the pool towels are in your room on arrival but you do have to pay 1euro to get clean ones. This I was not very impressed by.
The hotel happy hour is very popular 5 till 6 all drinks buy one get one free. The house wine in restaurant was 11 euros a bottle not cheap but compares to prices charged by other hotels we have stayed in. You can get beer for 1euro a pint at Mackers bar which has quizzes most nights and free bingo. Just up the road on the right.
We watched the entertainment a couple of nights but we thought it slightly annoying to play bingo in 6 languages. It took forever.
The food was good and varied some nights being better than others the breakfast was plentiful with everything you could wish for. We ate at the lunchtime snack bar once and was not impressed bad service and dreadful food so we ate out at lunchtime for a snack. It is great on the beach promenade to eat quite busy and very entertaining.
The weather was brill 31c one day never saw rain or clouds.
I would visit this hotel again without doubt. It may not be the best platinum in the brochure but it is an excellent all round choice.

Food very good and varied.
Staff good except for reception staff who were very slow on service.
We have been to this area 22 years ago and things are much the same now. Weather was terrible with heavy rain 3 days out of 7,and very cold.

Thomson call this a Platinum hotel, but really I dont think it is worthy of that.
Having stayed in other Platinum hotels & also gold hotels, it is in need of a refurb really.
Foods ok/ish we arent really fussy but even we ate out twice. Rooms really 3 star. TV Sky News only unless you speak german then you have 5 channels. Beer only 3 euros, but spirits 5 euros.
All in all Playa del Ingles is a bit run down. Maspalomas is a smarter area.
