THE GOLF DEL SUR AS A HOLIDAY RESORT IS RELATIVLEY YOUNG WHEN COMPARED WITH LOS CRISTIANOS AND PLAYA DE LAS AMERICAS BUT IT IS SLOWLEY DEVELOPING AND FACILITIES ARE GETTING BETTER. THE COMERCIAL DISTRICT OF (SAN BLAS) IS ADEQUATE ABOUT TWENTY MINUTE WALK AWAY OFFERING A RANGE OF SHOPS AND BOUTIQUES. SEVERAL RESTURANT FROM CHINESE ALL YOU CAN EATS TO THE MORE INTIMATE ALACRTE TYPE EFFORT. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GET YOUR DUTY FREES IE CIGGIES AND BOOZE VERY CHEAP I MEAN VERY CHEAP. NIGHT LIFE IS OK BUT NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT THIS WHERE A CAR IS NEEDED TO DRIVE TO THE MORE LIVELY RESORTS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED. THERE YOU HAVE IT RESORT GIVEN A 5/10 RATING.

The resort surrounds a 27 hole PGA standard Golf course.

Most of the hotels and apartment complexes are about a 10-15 minute walk to the club house. The San Blas complex is the commercal centre on the far side of the resort our apartment was only a short away from it. It is a mixture of bars, Restaurants, fish and chip shop (in the upper square) car hire/excursion offices, scuba shop and shops. Most of the bars seemed British owned.

The China Palace – Chinese restaurant does an excellent cheap all you eat buffet. There is also a good Indian restaurant. There are also plenty of Italian style pizza places, some more Chinese, a Thai and a Peruvian restaurant.

The Netto supermarket is excellent though a little pricey, but does great fresh bread and pastries. The centre has the only night club in the area. The upper and lower squares have free entertainment usually a singer/instrumentalist. If your are after karoke try friends bar. A walk down the promenade takes you to more restaurants and bars.

The local beach consists of pebbles and looks abandoned. There is another sand beach (black Sand)but you have to walk across a rocky headland and it is a bit of a trek. The easiest way to get to it is by car or taxi to Los Abrigos the local fishing village which specialises in fish restaurants. If you are going to do that you might as well go to the beach on the other side of Los Abrigos or to El Medano (its a long quiet beach but does have a constant breeze) or go to the beaches in Los Christianos or Las Americas.

I would not recommend the area if you are into beach holidays or have teenagers. Would we go back again – yes.

The resort itself is very clean. The resort boasts a commercial centre (shops, restaurants, etc.) and a large supermarket, Netto, which was very well stocked. The entertainment consisted of mainly Karaoke which we hate so we kept out of the pubs. There is no beach. there is what can only be described as a car park with a couple of sun huts but no beds! The "beach" is rocky with waves crashing all day so unless you were on a death wish there is no way you could swim there. There is absolutely nothing to do in this resort. It was the deadest place I have ever been in and would not return.

The resort was fine for people who were there for just the golf but nothing else, in my opinion it is not for families or young single people.

Re the cleanliness, there was an awful lot of dogs mess.

Quite honestly I thought the entertainment was pathetic - old singers, singing old songs. I don't think there was anything else.

Beach only pebbles, and hard to get down to, amongst building site debris. One good point - there is a lovely sea water lagoon, which had just been filled.

Although we realised this is a quiet resort, there is nothing much to do - didn't even find the crazy golf. We found the shop-keepers extremely irritating, with many shops not displaying prices (we will not buy anything unless a price is displayed, so in the end, they probably missed sales).

Buses unreliable, and next door fishing village reached only via hazardous, dirty route.

The resort is very quiet in December when we visited. That suited us as we were all inclusive and didn't leave the hotel very much.We found a nice Irish pub not far from our hotel which had very good entertainment and good beer! The beach is like most beaches in the Canaries, black. We used the hotel pool.

No problem with the resort the focal point is the square which is surrounded by restaurants and bars, which provide adequate entertainment and food.

The resort is fairly quiet with not that many bars and restaurants. I would recommend the Wild Geese bar for a pint and large screen tv for watching the football. The Landsdowne Restaurant is very nice. About 20 minutes walk/5 minutes taxi drive away is the San Blas shopping area. This is what evenings on holiday is all about. There are lots of good bars, restaurants and shops with a really lovely atmosphere.

The beach is virtually non existant and very rocky.

Resort very good, catering for ages and tastes.
Rocky coastline, no beach, but a short bus ride to La Medano, 10 mins from resort a must. Typical spanish village with small sheltered coves, tasteful cafe bars & restaurants.
