Found the hotel great. It was not luxurious but great for a family.

Staff were pleasant and rooms nice and clean.

A good all rounder I would say, good position too, with plenty of access to beaches, shops, bars and restaurants etc.

I am writing in relation to the security of the hotel which is very poor, the patio doors are easy to break into, the windows are also insecure, my cousin forgot his key to get in and just prised the window open very easily, we put our money in the hotel safe in the reception and even they got broken into 3 different safes had been robbed, on telling the rep and receptionist the receptionist replied impossible, talking to the rep later in the day he admitted it had happened also the previous week.

These apartments are very insecure. A child could break into them.

Regarding the wall safes in reception three were broken into one night. The week before others were broken into.

All in all this hotel is very insecure I would not go back there if it was free!

With only a 20 minute drive from the airport, this made The Atlantida Apartments an excellent choice for a family with young children.

We arrived and were directed to our room with map in hand, by a very friendly, English speaking, receptionist. As we were at the far end of the complex (which has a number of steps in places)carrying our luggage was hard work.

Our apartment overlooked the pool near the Cave Bar, but the noise never bothered us. We opted for a one bed apartment with a pull out sofa bed in the lounge for the children. The apartment was a little "frayed around the edges" but was clean and had the wonderful bonus of a washing machine.(We came home with virtually all clean washing!) But we were paying 3 star prices and I think we received value for money.

We never ate in apart from the odd breakfast, but opted to use the restaurant instead. Breakfast was 7 euros for adults and children under six ate free. Dinner was 9 euros and again, children under six ate free. The cave bar was also excellent value for money at lunchtime with a takeaway service serving all the obvious pizzas, burgers, salads etc Childrens meals were 2.80 euros.

The nightly entertainment was very good including tribute bands, comediens, magicians, bingo and karaoke. Three nights a week there was a childrens club for two hours which both our children loved. (and so did we....peace and quiet!) The daytime children's club was divided into tots (3-5)team (6-9) and tribe (10 up.) As our children were aged 4 and 8 they were in different groups which meant that we couldn't parcel them off together. However, leaving a mobile number meant we weren't tied to the complex and we frequently walked into Los Cristianos.

The nearest supermarket was just outside reception, the nearest cash point was only 300 yards away and so was the local taxi rank. Los Cristianos Sunday market was only 300yards away too which the kids loved.

The nearest beach (if you can call it that!) was only a five minute walk but as it looked more like a rocky building site, wasn't really suitable for children. The better beach in the town was very clean, although the sea was incredibly salty.Because of this we spent most of our time around the pool.

Los Cristianos must have a high British tourist population but from what I could see they seemed to cater only for this, Traditional fish and chips, pizza, burgers etc. I'd liked to have seen something more traditional on offer. Maybe I didn't look far enough? Apart from the scratch card touts (timeshare tours a guaranteed prize!) we found everyone to be really friendly and although we couldn't speak a word of Spanish we never had a problem.

The staff in the hotel were very friendly, as were the reps ( but they should tone down the entusiasm in the welcome meeting a little as it was a bit over the top!

Make sure you pack your earplugs for this as well as the bin men who have to collect the rubbish at 3am. WHY?) To sum up, we got value for money and the only home comforts I really missed was decent bread and fluffy pillows. We'd definitely go back there again.

We stayed at the Atlantida for the first time this November. Travelling with a four year old we were a little worried about the facilities for kids but were not disappointed!

The kids club (tots in this case) was a blessing as it gave us at least two hours a day to ourselves although twice during the week the club was on two times a day (hurrah!!) The staff at kids club were excellent and I had no worries at all leaving our little monster there.

The rooms themselves were very basic; remember to take your own tea towels, washing up liquid etc as there is nothing like that provided. The local supermarket (black hole) was fairly well stocked with booze etc but lacking a little in the basics like a decent loaf of bread.
However we didn

We stayed at this hotel in November 2004, and I have to say we wouldn't rush back.

My husband had been to Tenerife years back and enjoyed it, and told me great stories of it, but we were very disappointed with our holiday.

We were sold the holiday as a superfamily holiday and when we got there were told that in fact they had changed it so that it was only superfamily in the summer season. Which finished two days before we arrived. Great! There was hardly anything for the kids to do except kids club.

We always go for somewhere that keeps the kids amused all day and this holiday was nothing like we anticipated and were led to believe. There was a football pitch that had a high fence round it that was kept locked the whole time. Some one had made a hole in the fence and the boys used to go and play there anyway. That was it.

Evening entertainment was very poor too. Virtually non-existant. Mostly just a guy playing disco music. To top it all we had two weeks of cloud. Admitedly no rain as such, but we went home after 2 weeks with no tan at all! The sun came out in the morning, but by 12 the sky was completely overcast.

To sum up, we may try Tenerife again one day, but not in November, and definitely not this hotel!

We arrived at about 3am, went to our room which we had asked to not be on the ground floor. Finding our way through the maze we went up and up and up, great we thought but when we opened the patio doors we were on the main road at ground level?!

The next morning the reception were really helpful and we moved to the rear of the complex and on the first floor the following day.

Both the pools we small and activities were 3 - 4 a day killer darts, boule, bean bags then one in the pool either rugby, basket ball or water polo.

Kids club was good for the under 13's.

The pools would have been better if they were a little bigger.

Football pitch, tennis courts and a gym.

Evening entertainment was hit and miss but the Cave bar was somewhere to visit.

Our second room was far enough away that we couldn't hear the music and being high up people didn't walk past to get back to their appartments.

Had visits from the cockroaches most evening until we remebered to close the bathroom window and spray (found under the sink) Washing machine in the bathroom was brilliant.

Finished being a superfamily hotel on the day we left.

Didn't eat in the restaurant but had the bbq the first week. But not the second !! All you could eat but get there early if you really want to have it. Was not impressed.

Glad we had the holiday but over all would not go back to the Atlantida again.

THE WOODS

I had previously e.mailed the Atlantida and asked for apartment 47 as it was near reception (good from a security point of view) and on ground floor by the pool. We arrived at about 2:30am and checked in very quickly. The apartment was easy to find but the place was like a warren and could be very difficult to find things.

The apartment was 2 bed and quite large but basic. It was clean and tidy and we had a massive balcony overlooking the sunken pool.

The pool was so small that I felt claustrophobic and only sat by it once. The other pool was more open but looked even more grotty. While we were there the pool area was painted - painted over all the dirt and grime - and was out of use for a whole day.

The reps and staff were always friendly. There was a LOT of kids but it was half term. The kids clubs were good but they lacked imagination and facilities - no longer an issue as no longer Super Family.

The place is definitley 3 star or less and probably should be knocked down as it is too tired.

The entertainment was entertaining! We only saw the 10:00 show each night but we all enjoyed it and joined in. The kids enjoyed the whole holiday and would have stayed in the complex the whole time if allowed.

Only saw 2 cockroaches.

Maids were very good - cleaning for an hour one day.

No idea about food as we never ate in.

Overall we probably got what we payed for but would not go back to Atlantida.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Atlantida apartments. Had read a few mixed reports prior to our holiday but arrived there with an open mind and we were not disappointed.

It was our first time abroad since the arrival of our 11 month old daughter and we were not really sure what to expect in comparison to our many previous holidays abroad. We felt the apartments really suited our needs with the baby and the high chair, cot and washing machine in the apartments were all godsends. We requested an apartment on a low floor and had one fairly near to reception, pool etc. Rooms were basic (no air-conditioning which was really needed!) but they were spacious. I would say their condition is what you would expect from a 3 star acccommodation - basic but fine.

We took the half board option and found the food to be very good with plenty of variety. The restaurant was nice and staff pleasant and very helpful.

Entertainment at night was fairly good too although we didn't stay every night to watch it. Soft play area and toys were excellent although at night it was over run with bigger kids wrecking the joint which was a big concern to us. It is supposed to be for 3 years old and under (with parental supervision) but frequently found big kids fighting in it, throwing toys about etc with none of their parents in sight!!! Not fair or safe for our baby to crawl around in with all that going on. Mind you don't think there was very much reps could do as responsiblity really lies with the parents on this one.

On the whole we had a good hol at Atlantida and would go back again.
