We are not long back from Green Garden Resort & Suites and much to my pleasant surprise we all loved it.
I say much to my surprise because the last time we were in Tenerife was many many years ago, probably something like 17 years I think, and be honest I hated it thus we have never gone back since. I now hear you asking well if you hated it so much why did you go back this time? Just to clarify that, this was a full family holiday to celebrate my retirement and we were extremely limited on departure dates therefore destinations.
Tenerife was to be honest not my choice and certainly Play De Las Americas would have been my last choice, however the family all liked the fact that we would have free unlimited passes to Siam Park (excellent water park) included as part of the package at Green Garden Resort & Suites, the dates tied in perfectly so off we went.
On arrival we were met on reception by Lsidro and he couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant, having said that we found all the receptionists very pleasant and extremely helpful.
Being AI you have several hours at every meal time to wander in at your own leisure for a meal or something to eat, the food is changed and replenished regularly with a very varied selection available, one of our party is vegetarian and always found something to eat. There is fresh food cooked in front of you at every meal time along with a good selection that is prepared in the kitchen and brought out front. I did like the freshly cooked Churros in the morning.
If you are a salad person you will love the walk in chilled room that has a great and very varied selection of cold foods and desserts.
Guests are also entitled to use the A La Carte restaurant free of charge once per week during their visit or if you wish you can also go and use all the facilities including the restaurant at The Gran Oasis which is the sister hotel and located not too far away.
There are snacks available during non meal times so you won't ever need to feel peckish, I particularly liked the fresh fruit that was checked and changed during the day.
The AI is available from 11:00 - 23:00, this is from just after breakfast finishes right through the day, plenty of time and as it is a family resort an ideal time for it to finish too.
If you want a loud brash fun all day and party in to the early hours resort this hotel isn't for you, it is a small friendly and ideal family resort.
The staff in the bar / restaurant are extremely friendly and very hard working, our Granddaughter just loved Kathy who always made time to speak to her and Natalie just brightens up your day with her smile.
The rooms or to be more exact the apartments are extremely airy and light with big balconies and full size patio doors, they also have metal shutters on the outside to keep them cool and secure.
Rooms are serviced every day except a Wednesday and a Sunday, the towels are changed every day and bed linen every couple of days.
All the room are big and spacious with free air con included, there is a large fridge / freezer in the kitchen along with microwave, toaster, coffee maker etc. There is an onsite self service laundry which is easy cheap and quick to use.
There is also a small well stocked onsite supermarket selling nearly everything that you could possibly need, very handy for anybody on a SC basis and for drinks or snacks if you are not AI or just want something different.
The apartments have LED TV's in the bedrooms and lounge should you wish to watch it, for those soap fans yes there is BBC and ITV if you really must watch Corrie or Eastenders lol.
Pool area is nice, not the largest however it is split in to 2 separate pools and a kids pool, towels can't be put down the night before as all the sun beds are stacked up during the night and the area cleaned and pool tested and treated so it might be advisable to put them out when going for breakfast if you are going to the pool area.
We would get up and after having gone for breakfast and if we were not going out of the complex we then went to the pool and never once had a problem getting a sun bed, this included our second week when the hotel was at full capacity.
Pool Towels are provided and you can change them every day if you want, just ask at reception.
There is also a games arcade and a pool table along with some small play areas for younger children, the anamacion team (Rod was particularly good before he moved) run various activities during the day and this includes a large inflatable slide in to the pool.
Should you wish to be pampered you might want to use the Spa facilities which has a great spa Jacuzzi tub, there is also a small gym to burn off those calories.
For some the location might not be exactly to their liking as it is set in the middle of a golf course around about a 15 minute downhill walk in to Play De Las Americas or if going in the other direction about a 20 minute walk in to Los Cristianos. This makes the hotel very quiet which was an ideal location for us, if you want to be close to the action or want to party with loud music around the pool all day thankfully this isn't the hotel for you.
The hotel operates a free courtesy bus down in to the shopping areas and also down to the Monkey Beach Club where you can use the facilities there on an AI basis.
Taxis are cheap if you want to use them ranging from just over 3 Euro's to around about 6 Euro's depending on location in resort.
There is free wi-fi available throughout the complex, some areas do have a slightly better signal than others, we used this for daily web browsing and FB uploads with no problems and it lasted for our entire 2 week holiday, the allowance gets reset at the end of every week.
I have named some of the staff however ALL the staff must get a mention, they are all lovely and friendly and a real credit to the 'Be Happy' Motto.
Now as I mentioned at the very start that this was not my choice of holiday so the big question is would I ever be tempted to go back to Tenerife?
As Rod would say - Yeh Yeh Yeh but I would only stay at the Green Garden Resort & Suites.

The hotel is located between Playa las Americas and Los Christianos, with about a 15 minute stroll to each. On arrival we were shown to our room number 58 and were very suprised at how clean and spaciouse it was. The maides had even left rose petals scattered around. The bedroom has a small balcony and cealing fan plus lots of wardrobe and cudboard space. The lounge has a pull out bed and leads onto a huge terrace. The apartment had cooker, kettle, microwave, fridge, hairdyer and even an iron and ironing board at no extra charge. We rented a safe which is located at reception for 16 euros a week. the room is cleaned and towels are changed 5 times a week.
We were all inclusive and the food was quite nice but with little choice of dishes to choose from at night. Each morning you can choose between a full english or they have toast, cereal, fruit or pastries.
the lunch usual consists of chips, hot dogs, chicken nuggets or meats such as chicken or beef. they have salads laid out and sandwiches.
Evening meals were lovely. Six out of seven nights you eat around the terrace over looking the pool. tuesdays is itallian night, thursday chineese, sunday is the barbaque and monday is gala night served in the restaurant downstairs. One thing i did notice is if you are not a fan of any of the themed evenings above this may not be the place for you as there was little other choice other than chips or salad.
Entertainment was quite poor. parrot show, snake show, bingo and quiz. it tended to finish aroung 10.30 most nights. We would make the most of the free drinks then venture down to puerto colon or los christanos.
if you are all inclusive you can help yourself to soft drinks wine beer and ice-cream between 11am to 11pm. spirits at the pool bar.
the pool is lovely, a large lagoon style with seats to relax on and a whirl pool.
The hotel also has a games room and internet access.
I would stay at this hotel again but would not advise anyone who doesnt like walking or wants lively evening entertainment at the hotel to come here.

My partner and I returned from the Green Golf this weekend, we had a fantastic holiday and already plan to return with my girlfriends parents next year.
The hotel accomodation was very clean and decorated/furnished to a high standard.
The hotel staff were very friendly and always willing to help.
The pool area was very plesant and the bar area was lovely.
The food served at the bar was very nice especially the buffet style breakfast.
The location was great for us as we were away from the hussle and bustle of the centre however it was only a short walk or 5 euros by taxi if you wanted to visit the restuarants and shops in the town.
As cash is not used on site upon arrival reception request either credit card details or 100 euros for your account, this enables you to pay for any items at the bar/supermarket etc by your room key card and you can check the balance at any time via reception.
We really enjoyed our stay and look foward to returning.

We found the Green Golf resort absolutley great.
The rooms were spotlessly clean did not see 1 single cockroach, very spacious.
The food was very good but a touch on the expensive side, all the staff were very helpful.
The location is ideal because its not too close to the strip but if you want to go there its only a 10 min walk away.
The entertainment was ok something different every night but if you want better you just go in to town only 5 euros in taxi if you dont want to walk.
Already booked for next year, 2007.

Before arriving at Green Golf we were warned by our travel company that they may be noise due to building works going on over the road from our complex. We did hear some noise first thing in the morning. But we are really glad we did not let this put us off from going as we all really enjoyed our stay.
The apartments were very clean and spacious. We had read about break in's on this web site before we left but i have to say that during our two week stay we heard nothing!!
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The entertainment was 'different'. But it was that bad you couldnt help but join in! Just get drunk and it sounds so much better!
The safe cost 35 Euros. With a 30 Euro deposit which you got back at the end of your stay.
All in all it was a nice place to stay for a relaxing holiday.

On arriving at the resort we were very impressed on how clean and well maintained the hotel was.
The staff were polite and efficient.
We stayed in a duplex two bedroomed apartment at the front of the hotel, and even with the building work going on over the road( which we never heard a thing.) The view we had was quite pleasant and peaceful.
The swimming pool was clean and not too crowded around the pool area. We were also very impressed at the tidy gardens and terraces.
Also we had heard about the break ins but and no worry"s as long as you use safety deposit boxes and just be sensible about security overall.
We will be going back to this fantastic hotel again hopefully in the near future.

Visited August with family. Rooms spacious and clean but ant infested (staff immediately dealt with this problem and they did not return).
Food expensive and small portions.
Taxis to resort centre a must after dark. ("Ladies of the night" on the road back to the Hotel!) Taxi prices varied from 4-6 euros.
Entertainment - diabolical!
There were 4 robberies in our block of the hotel while we were there. We put chairs behind the main door and a settee across the patio windows every night for security, as well as putting all valuables and money in safety deposit box - this is a must!!!
Would return to Tenerife but to a more secure and central Hotel.

The Green Golf apartments are ideal for anyone looking for a clean and civilised holiday in this part of Tenerife.
The apartment we had was beautifully clean and well-equipped. The patio area was quiet and private and the accommodation was a very good size for a family of 3 or 4.
The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English.
The supermarket was well-stocked, if a little expensive and there was not always a wide range of fresh fruit and veg.
The pool-side bar had good service but was a little over-priced. Much better to brave the main resort early evening for a reasonably priced meal. The pool area was lovely. It was quite busy in August and you had to "reserve" your sunbeds at around 8am. Quite alot of kids but what do you expect at this time of year at a family resort? We heard about the break ins but have to say that we don't take anything of value away with us and certainly don't leave it in our rooms. Cameras and cash were kept in a safety deposit box and we never felt uneasy about security.
Apart from the pool there is not a great deal of entertainment but my 2 kids made friends very easily and were quite happy for the whole day. Evening entertainment was a bit loud as we were in the apartment next to the bar area but it was not unruly and we have no complaints.
Overall this is a lovely complex. Very few 18-30s, excellent accommodation and pleasant staff.
