Very impressed when we saw the hotel very clean and smart. Rooms were clean and tidy, pools lovely.

When we first went into the restaurant we were delighted with the selection of what was available. After a few days we realised that the food was always cold even when the restaurant opens. One day there was a chef cooking steaks on a grill, I had one but when I took a bite I could smell it was off before I tasted it. I know rotten meat I've been a butcher for 25 years. The waiter muttered something in Spanish and threw it away. Then we booked a meal for La Gomera restaurant and had a nice Chinese meal which you could have one night every week. The next morning we were taking a walk around the restaurant and noticed about 12 cockroaches on the floor by the kitchen and restaurant doors. We complained to the rep but we still saw them there several days after we complained. it was then that we noticed that what was left over from the Chinese/Italian nights were reheated and served up again in the main restaurant not very appetising when you've seen cockroaches in the restaurant it came from.

This was our first family holiday and definitely won't be going back.

This hotel is well presented with an open plan and spacious foyer and throughout our stay the hotel was kept immaculately clean.

We stayed in a 2 bedroomed villa with sea view this again was very clean and provided a family of 5 with ample space with 2 bathrooms.

Staying on an all inclusive basis the local beer was San Miguel and it was not as bitter as the normal all inclusive lagers. In the entertainment area, which is downstairs, there was often large queues waiting to be served.

The food is where this hotel lets itself down. Often the food was luke warm, at best. Also the dining area was so full and tightly packed tables it did not allow you to eat your food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Queues formed at the entrance to the restaurant only 10-15 minutes of meal times commencing and tables were often left with dirty dishes etc on them and many times we cleared them ourselves rather than wait on a waiter as they seemed to be few and far between.

On the plus side the meals in the chinese/italian restaurant were both the exact opposite to the main dining area - more relaxed, hot food and more staff.

The Activities during the day were good. Young children had the mini club for 4.5 hours per day split over 2 sessions. Adult activities were the usual darts, rifle shooting, archery, football, volleyball, aqua aerobics and water polo. The only negative being the lack of activities for teenagers.

Evening Entertainment consisted of the kids mini disco followed by the resident musicians (which were so bad they were funny!) however, after a few nights the humour factor fades into a feeling of how much more of this do we have to take!!! The main entertainment which starts at 10pm was a mixed bag of very good (Rock the Boat a Jamaican tribute band). To the very poor ( Snake Show - which was on twice in our 2 week stay)

Upon arrival this hotel looks immaculate!! The rooms (junior suites) are huge with excellent facilities.

However, there are a few issues that, if corrected, could change this place from being a good 4 star hotel into a very good/excellent hotel.

Firstly, we had only returned from the nearby (excellent) Bahia Principe 8 weeks prior to this holiday and with this fresh in mind, we could do no other but compare hotels. Basically, the B.P. is a superior hotel in all aspects except for entertainment and draught beer!!

As our holiday was during the October half term the hotel was extremely busy with larger families fully utilising the accomodation (although there were no chavs/rabble I'm pleased to say!). As the hotel was virtually full to capacity this meant the main restaurant was absolute chaos! For some reason, the hotel barely used the adjacent overspill restaurant? If the hotel used this area with buffet facilities for perhaps an hour on a morning and the same on an evening it would greatly reduce this chaos, although understaffing may also be a problem as the restaurant staff were constantly rushed off their feet. One tip for any future guests is to use the speciality restaurants - lovely food and no hussle and bussle!

Another point I had noticed on previous reviews was no sunbed reserving before 9AM. Fair enough - rules are rules, but for some reason this was not enforced until our final day when a female security guard with a " Thatcher like" attitude decided to enforce this rule again which led to uproar among guests! She took it upon herself to throw any towels which were laid out (mine included) onto the floor or gardens and shout at guests as though they were something you had trodden in. A word of warning to any future guests - if you try to reason with her you will only be threatened with expulsion from the hotel - and she is only the security guard. Apparantly this rule is to allow staff to clean the pool area. Unfortunately, they make a pretty poor effort of this compared to the cleanliness in the rest of the hotel.

As already mentioned, this hotel has the potential to become an excellent hotel if the management actually managed efficiently. It is a good hotel with excellent all round facilities, the quality of food and drink is very good, the pool area is large with plenty of sunbeds and parasols and even the entertainment is decent for families.

Would we return to this hotel? Definitely! but, as we have been spoilt at the Bahia Principe, only if the B.P. was unavailable. WE have actually had a very good holiday and I am am not in any way complaining, I am only pointing out a few things that could be better.

Beautiful Building, beautiful location, rooms huge, cleanliness second to none but, and it is a big, big but... if you like decent food then avoid this place like the plague.

We are not food snobs (just good old decent meat/veg/potato people) but like a decent meal when on holidays. By the time we located a restaurant that served good food (we had to taxi 30 minutes to town to do this) we were weak with hunger!!

The ice cream and alcohol available through all inclusive are very good but your main meals are a disaster as is the whole buffet, seating arrangement. It's not a relaxing experience. Our trip to the 'specialty' restaurants were no better either

I tried to think who this place would suit and have decided it would be perfect for any of the following:-
1. Depressed/Broken Hearted people who want solitude, alcohol and no food
2. Junk food addicts
3. Alcoholic anorexics

The animation people did their best but the smell inside was so bad that it was impossible to stay. For people with older kids/teenagers the only thing to entertain them was the row of internet computers in the reception area. If it wasn't for Beckhams bar in the small village which did karaoke every night we would have been lost. Its the first time ever we were glad to be coming home from a family holiday!!

The front of the hotel was stunning. The water fountain drew your attention. The reception area was beautiful and the staff were really warm and welcome.

Hotel security was excellent and made you feel like you were out of harms way. Our room was beautiful with a small balcony for the room.

It was an open top hotel on every floor so you could see above and below. Excellent nightlife and pool area. Food was delicious.

If you wanted a day to relax there was a kids club. Even thought we didn't use this facility it sounded good. Gift shops should the local exchange rate every day. Very helpful.

Also there was a bus to Las Americas so many times a day. There was a beach but not a very relaxing setting.

We would definitely come back to this hotel in the future.

I had a fantastic week at Dunas Paraiso, I was reading the reviews before I went and was getting worried as no one seemed to have anything good to say but personally I cannot fault the hotel at all.

It was beautiful, the decor is stunning, the hotel is spotlessly clean my room was kept clean by the army of cleaners every day.

The pool areas are also very clean (there are two big pools and one baby pool) and there are plenty of sunbeds as long as you get to the pool in the AM after lunch they have usually all been taken.

The entertainment for the kids is great (I do not know first hand as I went alone) but you saw the animation team rounding the kids up and then you didn't really see them till dinner.

The food was lovely all buffet style and plenty to choose from, I would say try to get there as it opens though as the later you leave it the food obviously gets cold as any would when sitting out for a couple of hours. I always got to dinner for 7pm and had hot food every night. There is a theme restaurant that does alternate nights of Italian and Chinese you are entitled in AI to have a meal there but you have to book your night at reception.

It is out of the way and not a lot about but 10 minutes walk away you will find a few shops and bars but my rep had a load of days and nights out you could go on....I went to Loro Parque which was a brilliant day out really enjoyed it cost 45

The hotel itself is absolutely stunning and really clean. When we arrrived our luggage was taken to our room which is fantastic.

The pools were kept clean and were excellent.the kids club was fine but only after a complaint off a fellow customer there was only one girl looking after 13 children, but after that they were really good!!

The food was always varied but always cold apart from the chinese we had in the other restaraunt. And drinks were served in very small cups so you found yourself spending most of time going back and forth to the bar.

The childrens entertainment room on a night was varied but the smell from the drains was very unpleasant so tended to put you off going some nights.

But apart from that the hotel itself is stunning and worth a stay! If they sort out the food we would definately visit it again.

We stayed at the Dunas Paraiso for two weeks over the easter break the hotel was full, even though this was the case we could not fault the hotel.

We had read some of the previous reviews and we did't really know what to expect especially regarding the food, well all i can say is we found the quality if the food excellent and the children loved it.

The hotel itself is very nice and really well looked after, the pool areas are lovely.

We would definately recommend this hotel to friends and family as we will definately be visiting it again ourselves.
