The resort was clean, no litter. There was street vendors who were unobtrusive and waited to be approached first before they sold you something, i.e bags, hair braids. The local shops were friendly and catered for all touristy goods. The beach was lovely and clean, sort of gritty sand which gets really hot so take sandels. There are life gaurd posts sited along the beach so quite safe.

The resort of Roquetas is superb, plenty to do for kids, playparks everywhere. Beach clean and safe. 'gorilla play area' is great for kids and mine wanted to go everynight!!!! Mario park superb day out, as was the trip to Granada to see the Alhambra. Tip - have a look at other people who offer trip as they are at least 10 euros cheaper than the ones the reps offer.

Not a lively resort, plenty of bars and shops but not a huge amount of nightlife - we have been to Aiya Napa in Cyprus and much prefer this quieter resort.
Holidays are for relaxing and this is the place to be for that - huge promenade along the beach great for an evening stroll - plenty of space on the beach although the sea is quite rough and slopes away quite steeply in the water - Beware.
Very friendly locals, in fact on our second visit to this resort an elderly parent was taken ill and hospitalised - the spanish owner of our regular bar offered to put us up if we had to stay on to care for him - luckily we didnt have to accept this offer but it was a fantastic example of spanish hospitality!

Found the resort to be very clean the beach was cleaned every night.Nothing stays open much later then 12.30 at night but as its a family resort thats fine.
Couple of bars we went to were the miners arms and happy days both british and a great pint, but the best bar by far is coconut bar tropical, just opposite golf trinidad hotel, great drinks and free crisps, nuts and fruit when you order.
There are a lot of flies but it wasnt that bad.We all would go again as you are made to feel very welcome.

Roquetas De Mar in Almeria is lovely. It has a real Spanish feel to it and everything is clean and not over the top touristy. Maybe it was because we went in the first week of June but it was really quiet and it isn't built up like other areas of Spain. Nobody hounds you and everything is slow and easy.
Most bars offer free Tapas (weekends mainly) - go to the big orange Malibu bar for cocktails on a Sunday (maybe a Saturday too?) and sit back and let them bring you free Tapas - just lovely!
The airport is great too. Forget the hassle of Palma airport in Majorca or the sparse feel of Reus in Costa Durada, the Almeria airport is clean and friendly with lovely shops, cafes and a terrace to sit on while you wait for your flight!

The resort itself is very nice, we holidayed here about 15 years ago, so it was lovely to come back and see how it had changed.
There are lots of bars and restaurants in the resort for entertainment, though we didn't venture out too much in the evening. We found a lovely British bar called "Happy Days 2 for 1" that did English food which is a blessing when travelling with a fussy child, and 2 drinks for the price of 1.
The family who owned the bar were very nice and really looked after us(look inside the menu for airport packs at 5 euro each, these were a great idea and much cheaper than the food at the airport), also the souvenir shop nearby "Iris" is run by a lovely Spanish guy who offers a money exchange service on cash and travellers cheques(we found this particularly useful as the hotel does not have an exchange service). The beach is shingle and has a lovely promenade to walk down if you fancy a stroll at anytime.
The flies were a nuisance but only if you let them be. My advice is to keep drinks covered and eat inside if possible."Old Pression" just around the corner from "La grappa" is another lovely bar we went to a couple of times.
The guy who owns it is Spanish but speaks really good English and they do 2 for 1 on drinks as well.

Streets quite dirty but area is still developing. Beach is nice, very quiet but shingle. No watersports on offer.
Costa del Almeria has nothing to offer the English. Seems more of a holiday destination for Spanish and they obviously wanted to keep it that way.

We stayed in Roquette de mar and it is an excellent resort
for anyone with walking difficulties as it is all on the flat. There are some lovely walks along the long promenade.
Not a great deal in the way of evening entertainment choices as a lot of the bars are mainly Spanish but we had a very enjoyable time at Theos bar went there most nights.
We are really looking forward to going back there in May this year.

it was minwinter so resort itself was very quiet, not many
restaurants or entertainment open, better to book into a half board hotel. the weather was pretty awful but we had a car and explored the surrounding area. visit felix a small village in the mountains about 5 miles north of roquetas
