the rooms are very clean and tidy .most of the staff were cheerful and polite .the food was ok but most of the time it was cold though the snacks were ok. the entertainment was very poor though we made our own and had a great time.because of the time of year most places around the hotel were closed .when we were there we had two lots of groups of birthday girls and i have to say they made the holiday special we all had a great time. most of the holiday makers were very friendly and i would definatly go there again.for an all inclusive hotel it is definatly worth the money .

stayed at this hotel for a week.. had a nice time until the last day. while waiting in the hotel lobby to be picked up for the airport i had my handbag stolen from my lap. this was bad enough but i got no help from the hotel staff. they would not call the police or check on the cctv cameras. ....it was most distressing and i would not advise any one to use this hotel as once they have your money and you are leaving they do not want to know.

Just got back from a 7 night All Inclusive holiday at the Calella Palace, and have to say it is a nice hotel. Great for families with young or old kids. The food was brilliant, loads of choice and always something different (recommend getting a bottle of wine with your dinner (free if your on AI). The hotel itself was lovely and clean, and bearing in mind we were there in high season at its busiest period the staff were really good too. My wife and I do feel 4 stars may be a bit ambitious, but its certainly a lot better standard than many 3 stars we've stayed in. The 2 drinks at a time rule is only a problem if your sole intention is to get wrecked, and didn't bother us in the slightest. The thin walls.... Yes, its true, but we found if we kept the windows shut and our air con on it wasn't quite so bad, and our neighbours were really good (tv off by midnight etc). We certainly never had a bad nights sleep there anyway. The lifts... If you can bear it, go in the glass one between the two entrance doors in the reception area! A lot quicker and more regular than the other two lifts. Calella is really nice, and a lot bigger than we thought, but well worth a good look around. Also, if you want to visit Barcelona and The New Camp, go with the hotels excursion trips as we saved a fortune and saw loads of Barcelona! All in, a great hotel and lovely resort! Well recommended!

great hotel, clean and bright. ALL staff marvellously friendly ex for an old fat guy in the bar downstairs

have to say I can see why staff get riled. I saw many people marching up with their cards, say "Beer" take their drink and go off.

On the first day I went to the bar, said "Hola!", "Can I have a coke por favor."
and I said gracias whenever they served me

By day 2 the bar staff were greeting me with a smile and a "morning!" They were charming, friendly and a great laugh. As far as I could see if you treated them with respect friendliness and manners they returned the favour.

George behind the grill was a hoot "Very very nice" Micky was kind and friendly. The food was plentiful delicous and tasty.

The kids (13 and 10) loved it, joined in the sports and pool games.

Walls WERE a bit thin, but hey what d'you expect?
With food all day long, drinks all day long (I LOVE sitting in the sun reading with a coffee so the self serve coffee machine was BRILL) the hol was a great bargain!

To george, Micky and the boys in the bar downstairs, "Hola amigos!"

Hotel was very clean, some staff pleasent some not, but im not surprised as manners cost nothing, it works both ways!
Hotel room spotless, cleaned and towels changed every day.
Entertainment reasonable, kids enjoyed the disco and shows put on by the reps. Reps tried hard to motivate people every day to join in activities, and had a few good games of water polo going.
The hotel was very busy and the queue for the sunbeds was ridiculous every morning. People were queueing from 8.30am and taking 8 sunbeds at a time, putting their towels on then not using the sunbeds until 2pm!!! Reception staff were not bothered by this. Pool is in the shade for a large part of the day so choose your place wisely if you can get a bed that is! Kids loved the pool and it was warm enough to stay in for hours on end!
Food was varied and there was something for everyone each day, kids buffet was reasonable.
Drinks were ok, go to the medievel castle for a good night out, the wine is the same as the hotel, but appeared stronger!! Overall we enjoyed the holiday, it was just a shame the morning sunbed barrage spoilt it for us. Would try another of the Top Hotels, possibly the Amaika

I stayed at the hotel for 7 nights and overall liked it. The entertainment is OK with lots for kids but just some for adults. There is great range of entertainment for kids like the mini disco and various games like killer pool, killer dice, walks accompanied with a parent or guardian and lots more. But only some for adults like a disco, bingo and cabaret show.

The hotel is very clean with your sheets and room cleaned regularly.

The food is nice but gets boring after a while but you can always eat out of course. The hotel staff are quite friendly and handled the usual arrogance and drunkenness of the Brits well.

Callela is a lovely little town with shops and pubs. One pub in particular called the Alcatraz which is a British pub which welcomes children as well with lots of entertainment like killer pool, football and karaoke.

I would also like to congratulate the hotel on it's glass elevator which provides a stunning view.

I would rate this hotel a good 7/10 and might visit there again.

We stayed in this hotel January 9th for 5 nights.

The hotel looked nice from the outside, the reception was nice and the staff looked smart. Check in was quick and hastle free and we were in our room by 10 mins.

The rooms were great, 2 big double beds, nice bathroom and ok size balcony. the bad thing is that the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything that goes on. Everyones tv is on full blast because without the remote you cannot turn it down (remote is 20euro deposit).

The breakfasts are nice, something for everyone, decent sausages but streaky bacon. it is 3 buffet tables and 3 coffee / juice machines. it has fruit, cereal, bread, meat, beans & salad?.

Lunch and dinner is usually a mad rush with everyone barging in to get food, expect a long wait at the bar during dinner.

The food was not nice, evrything was luke warm and all the meats were fatty and tough. sometimes the meat was very pink/red in the middle. They had descriptions of what is was but these were sometimes wrong - we had a 'chicken nugget' but it was actually a potato croquet! the waiting staff were friendly enough.

The bar service was terrible, expect to be served by rude, arrogant and unprofessional staff. Every drink seemed to be served with attitude in a hot glass. the drinks themselves were ok but the service terrible. Some staff tell you to queue others tell you to just come to the bar. On a busy night it takes easily 20 mins to get served! TIP; the AI bar closes at 12 but you can buy drinks after then, make sure you get the branded version as that is what they will charge you, we payed 10.20Euro for a copy Malibu & coke and a whisky!

The hotel has a good mix of familes, couples, lager louts and spanish.

Warning: If the hotel has any spanish guests, you will be pushed aside. They get served first, get the best tables reseved and get better versions of drinks. The only good thing about them staying is that the food is better - even if it is cold by the time all the spanish have finished with it.

On our day of departure, we were getting picked up 10mins before breakfast started, we had our 20month old daughter with us. We asked the hotel if we could get some milk for her as we will miss breakfast, they said NO because breakfast didnt start till 8! They said we could get it from the bar and leave it outside over night!

During our stay someone got robbed in the hotel lift and someone else got their camera nicked from the market. Be careful as there is no security in the hotel and anyone can just walk in.

As you can gather, we will not be staying here again.

i cannot knock the cleaning staff for their commitment & work. the food at the time that we stayed was good but i can only assume it was so because we stayed over a spainish bank holiday & i think the staff put in an extra effort to please their own, because as soon as they left it went back 75%.
the entertainment was like the food geared up for the spainish while they were there.i don,t know if it is the time of year but the hotel seemed that it was only for people on the baccy run, with almost half the people blotto from 9am till 12pm and more people lying drunk thru too much than i have ever seen,& everyone were british what a showing up!

after a very small delay at the airport arrived at the hotel and within 5 minutes we were in our room and ready to get our evening meal. room was very clean bathroom also clean we had 2 double beds the linen was clean and crisp white good pillows with spares also cos it was out of season blankets. the reception was manned 24 hours and the staff were very helpful. the dining room was beautiful, the choice of food and quality top class. the roof top jacuzzi and the plunge pool in the basement were excellent sorry cant comment on the gym didnt have time to use it. we were moved at the last minute from our closen hotel in lloret and i must say it would have had to have been of a very high standard to be better than the calella palace a very good holiday it is some years since we have been to spain and never to costa brava but we will definetly go again and would recommend the hotel to others.

I arrived back from my holiday just before the beginning of September. And i enjoyed my holiday and would like to return one day possibly next year!

Well the hotel is nicely decorated and looks really state of the art! In the travel agents their wasn't a recent picture of the hotel so was really surprised to arrive to the hotel with a entire new make over. Our flights were night flights so on our all inclusive cards our pictures look awful but that's not the hotels fault.

The hotel was always clean and the maids were very polite. Many a-time i left money for them insisting they take it but they rejected it each time (i left money before i left in an envelope for them) but one thing that did annoy is that many guests left their lilos in their rooms when they went home but most mornings we would come out for breakfast to see stacks of lilos an boats waiting for us i mean I'm not a shop now people!

The food most nights was reasonably good but sometimes we didn't even eat at the hotel because there was a made rush in which everyone wanted food at the same time so most times we would have to stand and wait for a table to empty an non of the other staff would open the second seating area claiming that they could only do it if EVERY seat in the main dinning room where taken also watch out for the chief who grills meat at the bottom end of the restaurant, he was a greasy Spanish man which only had three words in his vocabulary "Nice Very Nice" which we learned he could say in many other languages, this chief became a very comical figure of the holiday.

The hotel isn't close too the beach but is surrounded by many English bar such as "The White Horse" for live football games. Many shops surrounding the area but beware they may say the football kits they sell are real but they aren't. Also their is a McDonald's which i was surprised to see in such an unlikely area.

I had mixed feelings about the staff. The reception staff where very nice and would go out of their way to satisfy you. But the bar staff was an entire different question. Many where snotty, snobbish and practically an over-kill.

The entertainment was practically mediocure most of the time it was unfunny REPS doing foolish dancers which after 10 or 15 minuates lost all its novilty and in the end we went out for drinks. But i did hear that the before Callela Palace joined the H.Top family that the entertainment was very good including snake and parrot shows, whateva happened to them is beyond me because thats they only thing ruining this brlliant hotel.

I do suggest you go by yourself to Barcelona because going on a tour with the hotel is very expensive and i suggest an open top bus and go visit the fountains and the nu camp stadium because Barcelona is a fantasitc city but watch for pick pockets. Its only when we returned to the hotel that my wife realised her phone and keys where missing from her bag. So be careful.

I would return but if the hotel doesnt improve i would suggest this hotel becomes a 3-Star.
