The food here was TERRIBLE, had to eat out every night, Paper Thin walls... Had people banging walls all night, Brilliant Top roof jacuzzi, sunbeds were always taken, nobody sitting on them,

Bar staff IGNORANT!!, no entertainment at Night,
Had to go out and pay for it!!

Ended up a very expensive all inclusive holiday.
Will not be returning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel was beaut, very clean, maids in everyday to change dirty towels and make beds.
Food wasn't great, the same at lunch and dinner somedays!
Bar staff were pretty fit, but didn't have very good chat up lines. hehe.
Plastic chairs were rubbish!!!!!
Entertainment was rubbish.nothing for adults to get involved in. many people just queuing for their free drinks!

I'd rate the Calella Palace a 3/5

The hotel is NEARLY good, the decor, cleanliness, pool and rooms are all just fine but a few basic things let it down.

The food hall (I wouldn't call it a restaurant) is bedlam, just a huge free for all at meal times, ok for a day or two but by day five I was toiling. The food itself is ok, most people would find something to eat, I'd describe the meals as average canteen standard.

The hotel was just too noisy for us its a big place and with the May school holidays on it was really busy. In summary there is nothing to worry about if you want to go for a mad cheap week away. I saw no trouble with drunks or anything like that but it's not the place for you if you just want to chill out in the sun and I'd NEVER contemplate a two week stay there.

Just back from a weekend at this hotel and feel it's not up to 4 star standard. We've stayed in many 4 star establishments on the costas and are not hard to please.

Therefore I'm a bit confused about the other reviews. Maybe the standard id generally lower in the Costa Brava?
The hotel itself was quite nice. Clean, well appointed rooms, (although thin walls), attentive staff, good facilities, OK location, (15mins to beach but no problem).

However the food and entertainment were poor. For the 3 nights we were there the one choice of soup was the same, cream of courgette. This is a fact! Found it really difficult to find something we liked most nights. There wasn't a great choice, and what was there didn't look too appetising. As mentioned in another review, plenty of pork though, even for breakfast! ( I was actually glad of it).

The entertainment consisted of a team of two using the tried and tested cheapest way of entertainment, 'use the audience' so we were subjected to 'musical chairs' or the 'Birdie song', (hadn't heard this for about 20 years), Agadoo etc. Put up with it for 2 nights then went pub across the road for some respite.

So in summary, nice hotel, poor food. entertainment. This appears to be in contrast to other reviews but is based on comparisons to other hotels, which make it honest and informed.

Stayed for a long weekend break, hotel lovely, food great, staff really friendly.

The only downsides where walls too thin you could hear people in next room in showers and the unruly single sex parties i.e. stag & hen weekends.

Sometimes they made you ashamed to be British.

Can't say I would bring my children here especially in the height of the season as it would just be too noisy which is a shame as it was a really nice place.

The hotel would do better to concentrate on attracting families and couples and ditch the same sex parties.

We have not long returned from the hotel and we thought it was brilliant! Would deffinately go back. The staff were very friendly and the Hotel was extremely clean. The rooms were lovely, with two very large beds, the only downside were the walls were very thin, you could hear peoples conversation from the next room. The food was nice, there was something there for everyone. The drinks were very good also and you never had to que for longer than a couple of mins even though the Hotel was very busy. All in all the holiday was brilliant so don't worry about any bad reviews! However we were charged 60 euros on the way back at the airport for being over weight. I had 21kg in my case and my partner had 9 in his bag so we had 30 together but we had to have 15 in each! It's a money making thing with Ryanair!

Decided on a short break after christmas and my wife and I decided to revisit Calella.

The Internet site for the Calella Palace looked great and to be honest the food was good, the staff were very polite however the guests left a lot to be desired.

All I can say is that some council estate must have been very quiet for a week in January as they were all at this hotel on an all inclusive, drinking themselves silly and creating a problem for the staff and other guests. As well as making the british holiday makers look arrogant, self centred and alcoholics.

A good suggestion to the hotel is to drop the all inclusive in order to keep its 4 star rating and encourage a better mannered clientele.

Will not return here until these problems are sorted out.

Just come back yesterday after staying in calella palace for five days over the Christmas break. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, and although very nice in side we did find the walls a little to thin and you could hear everything from all directions.

Not very good if you have a young child trying to sleep. Hotel food was excellent and plenty of variety, and plenty of it. Staff very friendly and helpful although their English not very good but if you tried to speak Spanish they welcomed you warmly.

Due to the hotel being all inclusive it attracted a certain clientele that used this opportunity to drink themselves silly which then led to abusive and foul language which the staff could not deal with in the manner in which you would expect from a four star hotel.

In the five nights that we stayed there we made several complaints about the noise and abusive neighbours. Our requests were not really handled in the manner that we would expect.

I would not choose to stay in this hotel again unless it changed its policy on drunken foul behaviour from holiday makers and if it were to bring itself up to a truly 4 star rating. Which is what we thought we had paid for.

This hotel has recently been refurbished and the standard reflects that. The rooms were cleaned daily and most public areas were also clean. The staff in general, were friendly and courteous, however we found we were being treated in the same manner as those on All Inclusive, some of which were behaving in a loutish manner.
Once we explained that we were half board the attitude changed. I would only revisit this Hotel if it was to stop doing All Inclusive, as some of the behaviour of some guests made me feel ashamed to be British, and there was no place to go to sit quiet and have a civilized conversation.

These guests fell out of bed, into breakfast then into the bar. One man in particular had the same clothes on for a week.

This Hotel operates a no smoking policy and I would have liked to have been told this before I went there.
There are 2 areas set aside for smoker, a small bar and the pool area.

Unfortunately these were the areas that the lager-louts headed for.

I would have liked the Hotel to exert more control over the amount of drink these people were being fed.

we travelled to Calella in September and stayed in hotel Calella palace.

Hotel is lovely and clean and rooms are cleaned daily.

Restaurant is big, plenty to choose from but food is cold or luke warm. You would expect more from a 4 star hotel.

Staff dont speak much English and seem to favour thier own nationality.

For the above reasons we would not go back to this hotel.
