I love Calella. Some of the things that people here have moaned about is exactly why I like it. It IS more Spanish than touristy which means no boozed up Brits throwing up everywhere & no burnt British mums complaining there is no Greggs for their kids to have a sausage roll (there IS a Mcds though!) Lots of little bars, cafes & shops & a few British bars too (Alcatraz is friendly & cheap - €2.75 a pint & €3.00 for a huge cheeseburger - look for the Oldham Athletic flag on the ceiling!) Beach is shingle but huge & the sea is lovely but very deep only yards in. Would highly recommend for a cheap holiday in the sun!

Calella is an interesting town with various shops and good resturants. It is friendly and a wonderful base for visiting Barcelona by train. The infrastructure is good, enabling you to see much of the coastline by train and an excellent bus service to inland towns and Granada. Markets are worth a visit.

personally we prefer santa susanna as it appears cleaner and seems to have more to see.

We have been to Calella in the past and have enjoyed it,but would never visit it again. It looks really run down and there is dog mess all over. not very clean at all.

Nice clean resort but no entertainment to be found.Various road works being carried out at present so can be noisy in the daytime.

Beach nice but shingle. Plenty of bars, restuarants and clubs to keep you entertained. Shops also good but drop in Euro has made things slightly more expensive. Would probably visit again but a different hotel.

There are plenty of shops to look around in resort with plenty of bars and restaurants. Everything is within easy walkin distance and the locals seem very pleasant. The beach is more of a shingle rather than sand and the beach slopes away quite rapidly so not ideal for young children to bathe in.
