the resort was clean and tidy always a bin man going about keeping the streets clean. we found an english bar and anohter english bar ran by a scottish woman both bars were good and cheap the white horse down the road is a place i would recomned for both food and drink
the beach was amzin it is 2 euro for a bed that you can have all day and you pay another 2 euro for the umberella. also if you are all inclusve your card gets you two free dinks at the beer garden down the beach...staff there are very friendly.

this hotel is about 5 mins from the main shops in calella, and is away from the main rd,up a very slight hill.local supermarket just down the hill and to the right.bottled water around 85 cents for 5 litres.there are some roadworks further down the road, but these do not intervene the hotel in any way.local english pubs serving decent food(gringo joes).the beach is approx 10-15 mins walk down the road.

Callella is a quiet resort with shops and restuarants not the place to go if you want entertainment or night life not much to do there, Lloret is much better

Calella seemed fine .However the big problem with "All Inclusive" is that you tend to stay in your hotel because of the draw of merely asking for drinks at the bar ,and they're there. We had some pleasant walks around the town. The beach is a few minutes walk from the hotel, but the beach is not "sand castle" type, but more "egg timer" type.Kids take note!

Town a series of narrow streets.some pavenent/watermain work going on.
Didnt look for any entertainment in town.Only to go in The White Horse and pay 7.50 for a pint and a vodka/mix.Beach clean. Good Tree lined stroll area along beach.
Good selection of shops but prices are high can buy similar in UK cheaper.Good train service, fast, cheap and on time to Barcelona and other resorts.Only draw back, last train direction Barcelona is 10pm ish, so a taxi or walk if visiting Malgrat/Blanes/Pineda for the night.

The beach in Calella is very fine gravel, not sandy and is accessed via several subways under the costal railway which is not a problem although the subways could probably do with a hose down once in a while, most of the large bins that the hotels used were left out in the road, but tis is an old busy town.

Not alot of english seem to be in this resort, the resturants do not cater for children and do not have kids menus you have to get them adult meals. Cleanliness was very poor and the beach is shingle.

Resort cleanliness. Full of stray cats and run down hotels. Pools left half empty. One right near the Santa Monica hotel. Guests see from their balconies a very dirty swimming pool with thick black gunge left in it.
Resort entertainment poor. No music anywhere like being a ghost town.
Beach standard. Unable to walk on the beach due to the shingles which cut into your feet.
Resort just full of hotels, most sub-standard. Result is the hotels make no effort to review their standards, as they have nothing to compete with, but hotel Olympic clearly the pits of the whole of Calella. Hotel needs closing down.
Hotels just want the British holiday makers money and are not concerned with the comfort or quality of holiday makers and blatently get away with it.

I have visitied Calella several times and have always found it to be family orientated and very friendly. This year it was full of 16 - 18 year olds, nearly every hotel was full of them. The bars and shops seemed to want to rip people off. The Alcatraz pub charged 5 euros for half a cider and the Safari restaraunt charged 10 euros (approx 10 pound) for a chicken to take away. I would recommend the musical bar which charged a euro a pint. The food there is also very good and also good value for money. All in all I will not be returning to Calella.
