Good resort with good amenities

The beach is very clean, Calella town is quite pretty, with little squares and fountains with seating areas, also very large church in the centre, there is a modern shopping centre that also has is share of tacky sovenier shops and the train station with a good service to Barcelona every 30 minutes. When we visited it was low season so relatively quiet. There are quite a few tapa's bars and resturants none of them exactly buzzing! If you like to watch football or cant go without your fix of Eastenders etc or enjoy karioke then there are sevaral bars (brit pubs) around which also serve brit food (sunday roast, chicken nuggets, pie & chips etc.

extremely disappointed with the resort,we spent a week in sept 2007 over in Fenals and was expecting Callella to be pretty much the same but no its quite dirty and very outdated and has a train running slap through the middle of the resort,so my advice would be stick to Fenals as its much nicer. We did make the most of our week and still overall enjoyed the holiday, but ive been now and wouldnt go back. The hotel Santa Monica however was very good and it made our holiday.

The resort is a good mix of older stlye buildings and the new. The church is worth a visit. There are some excellent children's play areas. Park Dalmau behind the hospital is worth walking up to look at as is the lighthouse. The trains to Barcelona are cheap and frequent although the train is busy on the way back. Lots of restaurants and a variety of bars. You can find English stuff if you must but there is a good mix of other things.

Callela is a lovely resort which is still very Spanish. There is lots going on for everyone, clubs, restaurants, beautiful safe and clean beaches and a wonderful shopping area that is a great place for street entertainment in the evening.

As entertainment was poor in hotel we went out for a few hours 3/4 nights out of the week we were there. Plenty of bars nearby, with crazy golf, bunjee rides ect. The beach was lovely in day time as well as evening, with life guards on duty in day. This resort should appeal to everyone as there is loads to do and see both day and night. We would definately come back to this resort. Maybe not to the same hotel. All in all I would rate our holiday 4/5.

the resort is ok, not anywhere i would rave about but i would not put any one off going either. the beach is clean and there are plenty of bars to get drinks/food/ice cream from. the sand is more of a fine grit, not so good for building sand castles but good as it doesn't stick, the town itself is very family orientated but there is a lot of sexual references on t-shirts, in a couple of souvenir shops next to the kiddie type souvenirs there were dildos etc. but theses shops could be avoided. the people are really friendly there is plenty to do with the kids and every thing is open til after midnight.i have stated i wouldn't go back, this isn't because there is anything wrong with the place, it's just one of those places that once you've been the for a while you've seen all there is to see.

You have everything you needed within walking distance. The only thing I could pick fault on was the sand was more like crushed stones so this was difficult to walk on especially with small children and found quite a few cigarettes butt's.

Just got back from a 7 night All Inclusive holiday at the Calella Palace, and have to say it is a nice hotel. Great for families with young or old kids. The food was brilliant, loads of choice and always something different (recommend getting a bottle of wine with your dinner (free if your on AI). The hotel itself was lovely and clean, and bearing in mind we were there in high season at its busiest period the staff were really good too. My wife and I do feel 4 stars may be a bit ambitious, but its certainly a lot better standard than many 3 stars we've stayed in. The 2 drinks at a time rule is only a problem if your sole intention is to get wrecked, and didn't bother us in the slightest. The thin walls.... Yes, its true, but we found if we kept the windows shut and our air con on it wasn't quite so bad, and our neighbours were really good (tv off by midnight etc). We certainly never had a bad nights sleep there anyway. The lifts... If you can bear it, go in the glass one between the two entrance doors in the reception area! A lot quicker and more regular than the other two lifts. Calella is really nice, and a lot bigger than we thought, but well worth a good look around. Also, if you want to visit Barcelona and The New Camp, go with the hotels excursion trips as we saved a fortune and saw loads of Barcelona! All in, a great hotel and lovely resort! Well recommended!
