All the people who I had met in Calella were extremly friendly and willing to talk. I recommend all of the bars, clubs and restaraunts. The pebble beach is beautiful and there's plenty of shops nearby. Transport to Barcelona and water parks etc are cheap and quick, well worth giving it ago!

THE BEACH - The beach is great and only 2 min walk from hotel but not too good for little kids.
because it is shingle, it slopes very quicky and getting in the water can be very tricky because of the larger stones washed up to the shoreline.
ADVICE - Book beds from the hotel, They are half price. 10 Euro's for 4 beds and 1 parosol.
also you can use your AI card at the beach bar for 2 drinks only per card.
H-Top Hotels around and about are a must.
What the hell, you are AI, why not try out others.
we tried
4* Royal Beach - Lloret - Reminded us of the programe Benidorm
4* Royal sun - Santa Susanna - Lovely hotel - good food and beach front location.
4* Calella palace - good food, poor location but nice hotel, worth a visit.
3* Olympic - Calella - Used this for shooting and Archery from Amaika and also ate here once. Dining room like woolies cafe.
3* Aparthotel Santa susanna - Well !!!! we called it the Prison - enough said.
Calella itself is a nice resort but realistically, 14 days is long enough.
because we were AI we never really tried any other bars and just did the same circuit shopping.

Calella is a lovcely quaint town with lots of shops to suit every taste, no beach or street sellers which suited us, different pubs for different tastes.
Beach very clean, sunbeds pricey though and the shingle beach does hurt your feet once it is red hot, apart from that a nice beach. The sea was beautiful and deep after about 6 feet so be prepared for the drop!
I would go back to calella, it is a lovely little resort

Calella seemed stuck in the 70`s with dated entertainment and not much spent on it lately. However the beach was very clean with lots of space and when we visited in june 08 it was 26 degrees. We took a train direct from Callela beach to Barcelona which was only 6 euros each return!

Resort was very nice plenty off places to go to eat and drink. Beach was not too bad it was a bit gritty but nice and clean. Bars on beach were really good and quite handy to get to. Would go to callea again and would recommend it.

Very clean place, not alot going on in the evening mainly wine bars and tapas not alot of entertainment in the bars. If you eat out then go to Les Caves very nice. The beach is clean but beware the sea is all stones and will cut your feet.

The Casa area was lovely, a mixture of lovely old buildings and street cafes, with a beauitful old church and square at it's centre. The shops are a bit repetative, however the streets were very clean. We went to Barcelona by train it was very good, costs 6 Euros return, the trains run every half hour and they were very clean. We also walked a lot, especially up into the mountains and we really enjoyed this.

The resort entertainment, we cannot comment on and as this was early in the season, but we could hear disco to the early hours.

The beach was lovely to look at but there was quite a drop on it at the waters edge, again it was clean but it was early in the season.

I have said I would not return to this resort and would certainly never return to the Amaika Hotel or any of the sister Hotels, but I did like the region outside the resort it was beautiful and this may draw me back.

streets were clesn and long ,loads of shops but gift shops all the same and too many of them.found an english pub called white horse which was friendly and drinks reasonably priced. It is not a sandy beach but is gravely shingle which is painful to walk on and walk into sea is painful on pebbles and dangerously slopes down. would not visit ever and put us off spain altogether. even at the airport going home the airport staff rude and no smiles. do not go you have been warned.
