The resort of Callella was nice and clean there was no litter to be found anywhere. Plenty of souvenier shops, restaurants, bars and discos to suit all ages.
The beach was of high standard and there were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas for everyone.
Not to many watersports which did not destroy the peace and tranquility of the area.
I would probrably return to this resort especially to the Amaika Hotel

Our hotel was situated to far from the beach. Took a good 10-15 minutes to get their. Visit the "Gran Cafe" bar which is great and shows all the latest football games also their is acouple of arcades and a crazy golf course which kept the young'en undercontrol.

We only ventured to the beach once and it is a shame the sand is very rough and almost a fine shingle, it was very clean though and not too busy, the sea was also clean.
We ate out of our hotel twice but found it hard to find a nice restaurant, there is limited choice around, possibly because most of the hotels offer all inclusive. Apparently the bars and clubs are good and reasonably priced.

Calella is a great place if you like shopping, there are loads of shops and plenty of bars, but I think it has gone down over the years. The beach is clean but very gravelly.

Recently returned from Calella, Costa Brava and what a boring resort unless you like shopping. Very little in the way of entertainment for the family. Suitable if your the type who likes an evening stroll after your meal before going to bed early!!
Just one pub "the flying horse" in the what can only be called the older end of the resort in which we stay'd.
The resort itself is overall old and run down, some would poetically say it gives it a sort of rustic charm and a sense of the old Spain, for me its a dump in need of some money spending on it. Plenty of tapas or cafe bars to eat in.
Nice beach but shingle, so feels like your walking on thousands of red hot needles till your feet toughen up. Getting in and out of the sea is dodgy to with large pebbles to negoiate.
Will not go again till they spend some money on the place or till I'm in my 90's

We were lucky to have such a lovely hotel as I found the resort to be very run down and not a lot of entertainment etc with the usual tourist shops. I think the resort is losing out to the all inclusve holiday makers. The advantage is that if you have children it is not to long to travel by plane to Costa Brava. If you have children and like a beach holiday you may find Calella ok.It is quite resonable to eat out etc. We had a nice holiday but I think for us there are nicer places to visit.

Calella itself is not a place I would visit again. It looks and feels a bit run down, like the whole town could do with a lick of paint. The beach is awful, although clean, with thick course grit instead of sand which hurt when you walked on it, and the kids hated. The sea is down a very steep incline from the beach and you are out of your depth within a few strides. Luckily the pool at the hotel is so good we didn't need to go to the beach.

Calella is a lovely clean resort with lots of shops and a lovely clean beach the train line runs direct to Barcelona however the choice of eating places was a bit disappointing compared to other resorts we have visted in the past.
