Santa Susana is a quiet resort, quite suprized how quiet, not many restaurants, and those that are there are very expensive, there is a burgerking, which is also expensive, cost me for 2 adult meals and 3 kids 30 euros!

The beach is only accesed by going under the subway because of the railway track, but the beach is lovely but not really child friendly as the waves are mad!

You couldnt let them paddle as there is a big drop, sunbeds on beach 5 euro each to hire.

There is a market of a tuesday, again dont bother rubbish!
There are plenty of shops food, gifts etc, the transport is a mini road train which is good, kids enjoyed this, close to malgat walking distance.

Overall an expensive resort if you are self catering.

The resort of Santa Susanna has many upmarket hotels and is a lovely small resort. Like the Onabrava, the adjoining hotels are new and beautiful. There is a weekly market outside the hotel every Tuesday. The railway station is directly across the road and it costs only 6 euros return to Barcelona. You can also visit Lloret De Mar via Blanes. The hotel supermarket is very expensive, so are local mini markets. My tip is to visit Lidl or Carrefour supermarkets which are a ten minute walk at the rear of the hotel. I would recommend Santa Susanna if you want a quiet break. It is modern and clean. However, I was not impressed with Malgrat De Mar, the next town to Santa Susanna as it was all 1960's hotels. Calella also looked the same.

We found the resort to be very clean. The entertainment wasn't up to much, due to the time of year, but theres plenty going on when the season is in full swing. The beach is mainly shingle, and is rough on the feet, and the beach shelves pretty steeply into the sea, so children must be watched carefully. I would certainly visit this resort again.

Lovely resort - not as crowded or tacky as Malgrat which was a short stroll away. We visited at the end of the season and were very lucky with the weather so cannot comment on the resort entertainment as we stayed in the hotel on an evening. The beach was clean but as the hotel hhad a marvellous pool area we did not have to stay on the beach.

Santa Susanna's main virtue is the beach so near, it also has good access to Railway for fairly inexpensive trips to Barcelona.
Resort is fairly quiet, but we found in October that we picked a Spanish holiday week, and the streets were very busy some nights.
Small private stalls were good to walk past and now and again purchase from in the evenings after dinner. These were brightly lit and arranged along the pathway towards the station.

The resort was about 10 mins walk from amin area but we easily got taxi which did not cost much and went shopping also free train and bus are both great ideas. It was end of season so was quiet but we had a ball and met some lovely people from ireland who agreed you should have a laugh when on hols, but most of the english people just smiled or frowned at us...lol We had a great time and i would go back with friends or with kids no problem.

Our first holiday in mainland Spain. Not much going for the resort, we went late in the season, so it was all a bit jaded.Hard to keep it nice and clean,I suppose.Very much like Blackpool seafront, same shops selling similar stuff along the promenade to Malgrat, but if you looked hard enough, there were a few gems amongst them.
Road train was fun, blue route was local with good look around the area, green route was great, taking an hour or so and going off into the hills and nature reserve as well, only 5E!Go to Barcelona on the train, 6.5E!Brilliant!
Be prepared to go out of the resort for decent restaurants other than the hotels.A couple of the hotels had live music, nothing to shout about but ok for a bit of atmosphere.Street entertainers and stalls great fun at night.Think of it as a sweetener for Barcelona.
Beach?I don't think so.Mainly gravel along this coast, very steep into the sea, wouldn't go in unless a very strong swimmer.I don'thimk it is for children!

we stayed in santa susana it was very clean as far as rubbish but the foot paths were full of dog mess not to nice. there were a few good places to eat and drink and the little market that is set up every night is good to walk around not cheap though.
the beach was full of rubish and it is grit not sand very hard on the feet and the sea was warm and clean but what let it down was the steep shelf to get in and out we had a lot of trouble it took two of us to get the kids in and out it got very deep very quickly.
we would not consider this resort again it was totaly unsuitable for our need but we were talking to people who have been going back year after year.

santa susanna / malgrat is a very very clean resort well maintained and looked after , good markets in and around the area ,was not to fussed on the entertainment would not recomend you take kids to this resort as nothing caters for them only the ship pub. the beach is very clean but shingly,a very sharp decline in the water will soon have none swimmers in trouble so please please be ultra careful if your there with your kids, waves very strong and witnessed a 2/3 year old being swept out, luckily people there managed to grab the child and give back to parents dread to think what might of happened, iwould visit this resort again but not with children
