La Pineda is a nice resort if a little quiet. It is very Spanish & it is the kind of place the Spanish for a few days away. The hotel we stayed in is at the far end of the resort & it is about a 10 – 15 min walk to the livelier end of the resort. Ok if you don’t have a 5 year old who moans that her legs are sore after walking for 5 mins !! Salou is about a 20 min bus ride away. I did not realise that we were that far away. The bus service is great and cheap. The beach in La Pineda is nice and clean. I choose to go to La Pineda/Salou so that we could go to Portaventurer and what a great time we had. Go in the evening as it is cooler & the queues are not as big. I did not even have to queue to go on Dragon Khan on one of the nights. We spent half of the holiday in Portaventurer in the evenings. The fireworks at night were brilliant ! Do stay and watch them. We went through to Salou on a few occasions at night & I am kind of glad that we did not stay there as it was very busy. We went to the 2 water parks, Aquapolis and the one at portaventurer & had a great time. They are both good but if you only go to one, go to the Aquapolis as there are more rides & the kids bit is better and also there is the sea lion & dolphin show. The one at portaventurer is small & there is not enough sun beds or even chairs !
We did no excursions as none really jumped out as being worth the money & the main thing was Portaventurer for us. We bought a 14 day pass before we went on holiday as I thought that you could not get them there. You could & the price was the same.
All in all La Pineda was a nice resort & I would go back but I think I would like to be a bit nearer to salou for things to keep the kids occupied.

The hotel is at the very end of La Pineda, about 6 miles from Salou. La Pineda itself is very quiet, and the hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the centre, although as mentioned there isn't much going on there, definately not for those seeking night life, perfect for those who want peace and quiet.
Port Aventura is about 5 minutes drive away so this is an ideal hotel for those wishing to visit there like we did, but who don't want to be stuck in the hellhole that is Salou.

The resort is very clean. The purpose built beach is functional rather than scenic. Probably ideal for children as you can walk a long way into the sea before the water gets deep. Sun loungers are expensive at 4.50 Euros each. At the beginning of May, there are no parasols to hire. It is very windy on the beach. There are quite a lot of shops and bars - most of these are not located close to the Estival Park complex end. There are gift shops and some restaurants along the promenade and 2 smallish supermarkets close to the Estival Park complex. I would not visit the resort again - as I prefer more scenic beaches!

La Pineda is lovely, even though there is a large oil refinery at one end which is a bit of an eye sore. Lovely beach which slopes gently into clean water, shallow for quite some distance. Flat promenade with cafes and shops stretches for quite a nice walk. Small huts on beach for snacks. Good bus links with Salou, Cambrils, Tarragona, Port Aventura and Barcelona. Nice family atmosphere.

Not the best resort in the area, but good enough with beach and low key bars etc. Decent and safe enough and good bus into other resorts. Buses overcrowded though and no space for prams. Watch out for pickpockets in Tarragona bus station.
I'd go again, but consider one of the more loively resorts, but yet again to stay in another hotel would be a thought compared to this one.

La Pineda is a lively resort in the summer as there seemed to be plenty of bars but they were all shut in April which is to be expected. A trip to Port Adventura is a must and is only a short bus ride away but make sure you have the correct change as the driver won't let you travel. The local shops sell all sorts but make sure you haggle as you will receive a huge discount and they expect it.

We were completly out of season, so we knew there would not be much going on, but we still enjoyed ourselves and could see that it would have quite a lot to offer.
