La Pineda Holidays

4 out of 5 from 51 reviews
At first glance La Pineda may appear like any other Spanish holiday resort with its long sandy beaches, lively bars and wide range of accommodation. But there's a couple of things that really make it stand out from the rest. First of all La Pineda is home to one of Europe's most famous nightclubs, Pacha, which has been one of the bastions of club land since its launch in the late 1980s. Secondly the resort is not only home to Aquopolis, a waterpark and dolphinarium, but is conveniently located for the PortAventura theme park, one of the top tourist draws in the whole region and sure to keep everyone in the family happy.

La pineda was a disappointment, there is nothing much to it. A hanful of empty bars - the only busy restaurant / bar was the english waterfront bar which is the only one we went to. There was a paella resatuarant - allegedly good and used by mostly spanish but it wasn't very inviting.
Good Ice cream shops but the flavours are in Spanish and staff speak little english.

The beach seemed a bit grubby so we only went there once - but if you walk along it some bits are better than others.

The waterpark was 19.50 E, and right near the hotel, it was my boyfriends best bit of the holiday, but - sunbeds are 3 E each and if you wanted to hire a ring needed to use on most of the rides instead of queue up at the bottom for the seemingly limited amount of free ones it was 6E, we went in September and it wasn't busy so we did the latter and the wait wasn't too bad.
The dolphin and sealion show was really good. Beer was 4.60E!

My best day was at Portaventura in nearby Salou, it was 34E each, I'm not that into big scary rides but even for me it was a good day out and the man made scenery was the most pituresque thing I'd seem all week!

We didn't go to Salou at night because a couple told us they went in the day and it was tacky - but as we drove through it at night we past the promenade which they must have missed which had fountains and palm trees running along it and it looked beautiful and I wish I had visited it. Yes I'm sure it is tacky near the bars, but I don't like to spend my whole holiday wathcing hotel entertainment - so if you are under 30, I would go have a look - it's only 2.80 return on the bus.

We went to Barcelona with our rep company - mistake it was twice as expensive as going on the local bus which was probably better air conditioned then our coach, we only got an hour at the stadium, aquarium (which is ok, not brilliant) and dumped in Barcelona centre for 3 hours (i don't come on holiday to shop and it was getting dark with no map. The best thing was the Magic Fountains which were wonderful, I'd never seen anything like it but it was heaving and that was in september I hate to think what it was like in high season. Only go at night, as it is illuminated.

All in all a good plae if you have children old enough for water/theme parks and you like staying in your hotel at night.

La Pineda is much quieter than its bustling neighbour Salou which suited our family fine.

The resort was clean and we never encountered the dog dirt that alot of people have commented about. Now and again the odd sewer smell but nothing too unpleasant. There are enough bars, shops and restaurants to keep everyone happy.

We visited the Aquapolis waterpark which was an excellent day out and we had free entrance for the children as there were tickets inside the happy meals from McDonalds in Salou.

The beach is long and sandy and even though there is an oil refinery at one end it is not an eyesore. It is raked every morning and there are pedaloes for hire.

I would definitely return to La Pineda and highly recommend the resort.

The hotel was situated in an ideal location away from all the hustle and bustle of the shops.
Port Aventura Theme Park is very close by and also Costa Caribe Water Park which are both worthy of more than just one visit.
The beach is very safe for children and is only a short walk away.

Nice resort, very Spanish and not over commercialised or 'English'. Lots of bars but we struggled to find any live music. Beware the sangria at Anns Beach Bar, its lethal

Resort was clean and quite quirky with its oil refinery and oil tankers on the horizon. Much more pleasant than nearby Salou but definately not where you would go for a relaxing break. Beach was clean, sand was raked every night. Beware dodgy sangria served in beach bar. Not exactly sangria as we know it, contained about 10 spirits. Fine if you want to spend the rest of your holiday in bed. Resort is a good base to explore from.

Found the resort to be of a great standard as Salou has a very busy lifestyle, better suited to young parties looking for a drinking partying holiday.

La Pineda is much quieter with some lovely bars and resaurants although we stayed half board in a hotel therefore did not visit restaurants of an evening.

Very nice beach, drink is very reasonably priced in shops. The irish bar by the side enterance to the water park is excellent definitely worth a few visits. Water park very good with great dolphin and sea lion shows.

Lovely resort, quieter than neighbouring Salou. Ideal for families. Excellent bus service to neighbouring resorts / towns, eg. Salou, Tarragona, etc. Lovely beach / promenade. We flew to Reus airport, the taxi was expensive at 35 euros, however the bus service PLANA run a shuttle bus between the airport & La Pineda (which we got back to the airport) for around 5 euros each.
