Studio was quite a good size, however felt the maid service did bare minimum with regards to cleaning - toilets especially quite grotty looking.

Cooking utensils limited plus needed to run out to buy matches to light gas - would have been handy to know this beforehand.

Reception staff ok - but some had to force a smile.
Big Al and his staff were the most pleasant - loved the big cook - not a smiler but a good guy. Good banter and food good too. Real entertainment started pretty late and our 4year old usually felt tired by then and wanted to head to bed.

Would rather go somewhere with a bit more happening during the day for the kids though next time though.

The Albatros apartments were not very clean.
We had to clean the sink in the kitchen when we arrived. also lot of dust under the beds. The maid washed the bath out once when we were there, other times I done it myself.

Take your own bath towels there bath towels very small.

I made our beds, put rubbish out.

You have to pay

The Albatros apartments were dismal!

We went self-catering to cope with fussy eaters but there were not enough facilities in the apartment kitchens to cope with anything more than snacks. Thank god for Big Al's, ok not high class but good, fresh food, although it was a bit "brits and bingo" for my taste.

The toilets were smelly even after I cleaned them.
The next apartment was privately owned and whoever stayed there used the balcony as a dumping ground for everything , stacked up to the ceiling with cats roaming in and out, hey I'm a cat lover but these were mangy!

No joy from the Thomson rep either, seems all they want is your money when booking trips.

The reception staff were sour and moody, I can't understand the deposit thing, you pay for the room, breakages should be covered through this, and to make you wait until staff have gone up to your room to check it before you leave was insulting.

Would not go back to these apartments although Salou was lovely, clean and very friendly.

I loved staying in the Albatross because there was lots to do there.

The swimming pool overlooked the sea which was beautiful and Big Als food was lovely I ate there every night I also met a lot of friends at the Albatross.

The room was cleaned nearly every day and the balcony overlooked the sea. The entertainment was ok and the staffs were very helpful and polite.

I am hoping to come back to the Albatross next year, all of my family enjoyed our stay and I just wanted to stay at the Albatross.

Would recommend it for families and I will hope to come back next year.

We stayed here with our two children aged 13 & 6. We stayed in a studio, It was basic but for the time we spent in it, we found it had everything we needed. The maids cleaned and tidied our room every day except sunday. I found the rest of the complex very clean too.

We ate at Big Al's a few nights and had breakfast there every morning. Food was great, very generous portions at a reasonable price.

We found the location great, although it could prove difficult to those with mobility problems as it is located at the top of a hill, but we really enjoyed the walk into town or to the main beach and then the walk back up, just enough to work up a good appetitie. Also if you are located at the front of the complex, as we were, it could be quite noisy as there is a main road and a noisy hotel across the road, but their entertainment stopped at midnight, so we didn't find it a problem.

The staff were really helpful and pleasant and great with the kids, Abbie the barman too!

The entertainment was ok. The little ones loved the parrot show and the spanish "fire eaters", as well as the magician/comedian who got mum's & dad's on stage!!

We would definitely stay here again. The kids had a fantastic time at the pool and met lots of new friends, they were really sad to leave. We have already booked to go to Ibiza next year but the kids are begging us to go back here!

Just come back from a great holiday in Salou staying at these apartments. Like others have said, they are very basic apartments but were fine for self catering. We had a 2 bedroomed room which was large, it unfortunately didn't have much storage space and two of my teenagers had to keep there clothes in their suitcases, we found this annoying as the room were big enough to have more cupboard space.

There was adequate utentils etc in the kitchen but remember to take some bin bags as you need to supply your own, the cleaners do take your rubbish away for you though and they did a good job in our apartment and was also friendly. Bedding and towels were changed regularly.

The apartment block itself was ok, not the best we stayed in but suited our holiday. Big Al's is a good place to eat, cheaper than most (6 - 7 euros for most meals)and also big portions, also very friendly. The entertainment could be improved though, we stayed 2 weeks and found that it was repetitive and also not the best we have seen. One night we had an Elvis singer in and he was rubbish, even big Al appologised after he had left, just after 30 minutes by the way, I think he was probably told to leave. 9.30pm you have a quiz then a game of bingo, onto the answers of the quiz and then another game of bingo, finally, Al would announce the winner of the quiz and then the entertainment would begin at about 11pm.

There is also a kids room with some games such as ice hockey and racing car games, however I think they could have more in there for them to do. There is also 4 pool tables (2 euros a game).

As for the location, it was about a ten minute walk to the main beach which was fine going there but coming back it was up hill most of the way and could feel like hard work after a day out walking. There are several bars just around the corner though and also some lovely coves just behind the hotel.

One of the downsides to this hotel however was the noise. We don't normally worry about it as we don't tend to return to the hotel until 1am ish, however, as we were at the front of the building we could hear the noise from the hotel opposite, it sometimes went on until 4am. I have no problem with people staying up late and making noise, you tend to expect it but I must admit it did get to me a bit when it was night after night. This would not stop me staying here again though!

All in all, a good base to have your holiday if you are happy, like us to have basic accomodation not too far from the main area. The staff are very friendly by the way.

We booked two rooms both rooms were very clean. The hotel was spotless.

We had a very relaxing holiday two lovely beaches at the back of the hotel the nearest directly behind the swimming pool, less steps down ,a nice little cove from there you can walk a long a footpath to the next beach good views around the bay.

We ate out every night at Big Als food cheap and very nice.A short walk to the shops, dont pay the asking price haggle with them and they will lower the prices. The entertainment was your usual holiday type, bingo quizes and a few different acts.

We never got a room with a view if you go ask for a room overlooking the swimming pool and you will get a lovely view of the sea.

My sons of 17, 12, and 6 really enjoyed staying there the staff our very relaxed with the children, and the kids loved Big Als the bistro bar and made a lot of friends

Can any visitors going to these apartments and have read these comments and are in any doubt, please go the rooms are fine,do not have a room over the bistro bar with small children because of noisy people not the music, also do not rely on the reps ask staff in the bar they will tell you the truth about do's and don'ts they are wonderful people.

And please don't call Al the Dj he owns the place with his wonderful fiancee Kim.
