Hotel Palas Pineda was very impressive on arrival. Was a bit apprehensive after reading reports from other websites about this hotel being the pits. But 12 hours later all our party was of the opinion it lived up to its 4 stars.

Hotel was spotless, staff were very friendly, very close to the beach and the food was great. My daughter and her kids are fussy eaters no complaints from them.

Entertainment was better than my local club so again no complaints.

Would I visit this hotel again yes. In fact can

Just returned from this hotel and can honestly say we enjoyed it. The food was varied and there was always something you could eat. There was always a clean table when you went into the hotel. The rooms were cleaned every day. We had a superior room which was facing the pool and sea view which was great.

The hotel is in La Pineda and on the doorstep is the beach, shops bars etc

The hotel staff were very nice, we did not have any problems with them whatsoever, I would say if you are nice to them, they will be nice back, common sense!!

The entertainment was ok, and the kids loved it. There was games for the kids in the day and activities.

Very nice hotel when you first arrive. My family and I arrived at noon and we told by very unfriendly staff talking very fast that we were in the wrong part of the hotel and that we should make our way across the lobby down the lift and across the pool area with our lugged and no help. We had been travelling since 5 am and asked for some assistance, we were told no one could help and that it was not far, again we were given instruction very fast.

The room was very clean if you discounted the moulded hole in the bathroom just above the shower. Cannot fault the cleaning staff and we were very glad to show our appreciation to her, but for the rest of the staff I would find it difficult to say anything nice about them.

We had a party of 3 and on the first night had three beds, but on returning the next evening we found that one of the beds had been removed and at 11pm at night we found it difficult to get anyone to do anything about it. After about half an hour the staff wanted us to move to a new room which we said we did not want to, so we were inform that we would have to go to another room and get a third bed from there. We complained the next day to the Manager who did not want to know and informed us that we now had three beds. They could not tell us why the bed had been removed and were not apologetic for the fact that we were in a 4 star hotel but had to move the bed ourselves.

We stayed on a half board basis and found it very uncomfortable to get drinks before noon each day, we had to across the pool area go passed a All Inclusive bar up in the lift to the first floor area, cross a marble lobby to the public bar at the front of the hotel. Very difficult if you had been in the pool and a sure health and safe risk dripping water everywhere. We continued through our holiday to ask to buy drinks from the All Inclusive bar but were told no.

We were only allowed to eat in the buffet dining room even through the web site informs you that you have a choice of two. Food was ok if you like oil with every thing and the same food was on offer each day. The only things that did change were the fresh cooked food one day fish the next day meat. After the first two night my family and I made our way to the Waterfront Restaurant for our evening meal and from the fourth day also had a breakfast there too, excellent place to eat.

Take the hotel out of your holiday and it was great. We would go back to La Pinda, but not this hotel. The staff made us feel like they were doing us a favour by letting us stay there,

The Hotel Palas Pineda is a truly excellent hotel, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. We visited in the second week of the Easter Half Term, and although this is very early season for Spain, we had a fantastic time.

The hotel was absolutely spotless - the rooms were cleaned every day, and to a high standard. Floors mopped, towels changed, sheets changed, even clothes tidied up for us! All soaps/combs/shower gel/bath gel/shower caps/toilet rolls were replenished when needed. The particular lady that cleaned our room each day was very friendly and cheerful.

The range of food provided was good - I'm not quite sure what people expect of All Inclusive food - however this is the 3rd All Inclusive holiday I have been on and the food at the Palas Pineda has been the best of the three. Food is never piping hot, however this is due to the buffet style - by the time you have chosen what you want and put it on your plate, it is never going to be piping hot - however there are microwaves provided. Service is very efficient - waiter/waitress asks what drinks are required within a minute or two of sitting down. There are always a selection of three or four salad dishes, three of four meat dishes, a couple of fish dishes, chips, chicken nuggets, vegetables, paella and much much more. One day we even had lobster! Neither of us had upset tummies whilst eating here, and we tried practically everything on offer.

The hotel is located at the end of La Pineda, closest to Salou. There are a good range of restaurants, bars and shops along the front, however not all were open during the beginning of April (however we had expected this to be the case). There is an excellent supermarket (Michelangelo

The hotel itself looks impressive and the rooms are clean but some redecoration is needed.

I was there on an all inclusive basis but really it is full board. The food is seemed to be a lot of the same stuff repeated over and over and it is not of very good quality and was often lukewarm. You are ok if you like chips and salad. The meat on offer was horrendous fatty and grisly and often undercooked.

The drinks were ok but the bar staff were often unfriendly and ignored you and would serve paying Spanish customers first. The bar closed at 11pm for all inclusive but they still ignored us if we went to the bar after 11pm with money so we took our custom elsewhere.

One night the bar finished at 10pm for all inclusive but the barmaid refused to serve us at 2150 hours.

There was also a lack of entertainment and the TV channels for the British were Eurosport and CNN.

I have been all inclusive before and had a brilliant time but I would not recommend anybody staying at the Palas Pineda I was glad to go home.

The hotel is very impressive and very clean roooms cleaned every day and fresh towels provided daily. The food in the hotel was good but was generally aimed towards german and rusian vistors not much british food on the menu in saying this you would never go hungry as there was always chips and some variety of meat on offer. Hotel staff were unfriendly and not very helpful their english wasnt great it was hard for them to understand what i was asking for most of the time. The entertainment wasnt up to much either.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday and arent into alot of entertainment then this hotel is excellent.

The hotel is in a perfect location very near the beach and close to all amenities.

I try to go on holiday 2-3 times per year and at this hotel I seen a lifeguard at the pool all day which I have never noticed at any other hotel I have stayed in.

The swimming pool was great and the surroundings.

It has lots of things for the little kids to do.
the food was really nice but they would have the same ever so often.

My room got cleaned every day n they would always leave it with a nice smell.

The entertainment was good especially the fasion show.

This was our first time on all-inclusive so we went with an open mind having read previous reviews. The flight was smooth (shaved 15 mins off the flight time) and there was a bus outside the terminal that took us directly to the hotel (first stop) in about 25 mins, costing 15 Euros for the 3 of us. Much better value than a taxi.

Thought that the hotel was lovely. Impressive entrance way and reception, and our room was ready for us when we arrived at 10am. Once again our room on the 4th floor was excellent, complete with fridge, tv, twin beds plus smaller bed for my 10 year old daughter, nice balcony and lovely marbled bathroom. In the wardrobe is a safe, for which the key was rented (16 Euros for the week). Air conditioning was standard in all rooms, and could be left on all the time providing the room key (card) was slotted in to provide power. The room was cleaned daily and towels changed if desired.

Catering wise, there was the odd hiccup, but in my opinion it was minor and the hotel obviously won't please everybody all the time. Considering that the guests are from a variety of countries (especially Spain, Russia and Britain) I thought that they put on excellent food in a buffet style. The hotel was fully booked whilst we were there, and this sometimes caused problems in the restaurant. There's not enough staff to do all the work needed, and in fairness to them, they are rushed off their feet but do their best. There is normally a 2-2&1/2 hour window for meals, but if you happened to choose a busy period you may wait up to 5 minutes for a table.

Sometimes the drinks were a little slow as well, but this was rare during my week. The staff were friendly and generally came straight to the table if they saw that you had food, but no drink. During meals there is water, fruit juice, beer, wine or sangria. The food itself was good, consisting of a meat counter with steak and fish. A separate childrens counter with fish fingers, nuggets, chips, pasta etc. Another counter with a variety of dishes with veg etc, and an excellent salad buffet. Also provided was a soup each day, a variety of breads and a dessert counter with a large choice. The quality and choice of the fresh fruit and salads was exceptional, as I'm told, was the seafood.

My only gripe would be that sometimes it could be difficult to tell exactly what some dishes actually were, but once again, they do have to cater for a lot of Spanish and Russian guests. My daughter can be a bit picky with food but she had no problem at all finding choices that she enjoyed and neither did I.

The hotel is set in a perfect location for the resort of La Pineda. A short walk of approximately 50 metres takes you to a long row of shops, mixed with the odd restaurant and bar. A further 50 metres will lead to the beachfront.
I had no problems with the hotel staff whatsoever. They were friendly, couteous and polite, and also had good fun with the kids. It also helps if the guests try and interract with them I know no Spanish, but just attempting a few words with them is always gratefully received. Good English was spoken in reception and they could answer all queries.

In the restaurant, once again I had no problems when ordering drinks or getting a table. In the bar, well it wasn't always plain sailing. Generally they were friendly and helpful. Blue bands are given to all-inclusive guests to wear round the wrist. Personally I didn't bother and always got served okay. The bar staff like the kids to wear them as generally they are in and out all day getting soft drinks, crisps and ice creams. The only problem came at 11pm, when they wanted to shut. There was generally a queue of people from 1050pm and sometimes they would set a cut off point in the queue and say no more, but other times they would just stop serving, which was a problem if you'd just spent the last 10 minutes queuing for a drink, but common sense was often shown. More often than not it was the ignorant behaviour of some guests that annoyed the bar staff, and I found it quite unbelievable how some British guests abused them. There's no doubt that they are doing a thankless task, and, once again, they are trying their best to please all.

There is a "one drink - one person" rule in the bar, but again, the bar staff (depending on who it was) were generally pretty relaxed about it and showed common sense as long as it wasn't abused. My only real gripe was shutting the bar when the entertainment went on for a further hour.

And finally the entertainment. This was a little "hit and miss" for me. During the day there were small events taking place, aerobics outside or in the pool, swimming races, water polo or volleyball. And it was well organised and good fun, but not all for the Brits in my opinion. The Europeans tend to enjoy this sort of entertainment more I think. But there was no pressure and it could be fun just to watch. The was a definite effort to get the kids playing as well. At night the entertainment consisted of "mini disco", which most of the kids loved, but personally the same format every couple of nights did my head in! Some nights the entertainment was good, a Brazilian dance act that were impressive and the Karaoke, which at times was painful, but at others it was good fun, especially the Russian songs. There is also Flamenco dancing and some live music, mainly enjoyed by the Spanish guests. But it was still a lovely environment to sit out in the courtyard with a drink, enjoying the atmosphere and the warmth, safe in the knowledge that your children are running round a safe, secure hotel complex without a care in the world.

To summarise, the 3 of us had a lovely week in a lovely hotel with pretty good food and adequate entertainment. I don't tend to return to resorts as I prefer to go someplace new, but if I went back to Costa Dorada I would have no hesitation in booking the Palas Pineda Hotel.
