Location
Very poor position you could walk to Port Aventura but that was it, nothing at all around except souless blocks of hotels and apartments.
No buses go this far out only the trolley train which costs E2.50 evertime you got on. The food was the worst I have ever had in any hotel anywhere. They did not even have their version of t-bags at breakfast only herbal.
It was as though they had bought a job lot of cheap food and then could not cook it anyway.
I could not recommend this hotel at all. Leave well alone and get somewhere more central. It will save you a fortune in transport fares. Four star, no way.

I've never been in so many taxi's in my life. The staff were fine. The hotel was very clean. The room was a bit basic.
They gave our grandson who is 13 and over 5ft, a camp-bed to sleep on, even though we'd paid full adult price for him.
Entertainment is diabolical. All in all a very disappointing hotel, bearing in mind we paid for a 4* SOL hotel and got neither.
I have stayed in many Sol 4* hotels and believe me, the Costa Daurada is nothing like a Sol 4* hotel. We will not be returning to this hotel.

The only drawback was the entertainment which was very poor, one other point we would make is that the baby pool is located near the deep end of the adults pool rather than down at the shallow end overall we had a great time and would go back again.

We booked this hotel as it was a reasonable price for the 9 days that we stayed (

All the hotel was very clean and maids were great.
Kids clubs were good and kids seemed to enjoy!
We did eat there a few times which was excellent value for money. Helpful staff.
Excursions were good but used a lot of our money!
We are returning 2006 and looking forward to it!

Salou is very quiet during March and when we arrived at the hotel it was full of very nice Spanish senior citizens. However speaking to the head waitress who told me that they are there on a budget and that the hotel caters accordingly it is a different matter at the weekends when people from the outskirts of Barcelona arrive the food improves considerably.
This hotel is very clean the staff very helpful and although the outdoor pool is left uncleaned for the winter there is a small indoor pool which is very warm with sauna, Jacuzzi, and steam bath.
All in all we must consider what we paid and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Don't expect much life in Salou in winter, get out to the fabulous Barcelona only 10 euros return on the train.
Highly recommended.

The reception staff were ok, but even with a little Spanish, difficult to communicate with.
The pool had water in it, but it was dirty, then again it was only about 9 degrees!
Salou itself was deserted except for locals and a few short weekenders, lovely clean beach.
The food however was not too good. We went Friday to Monday and were quite disappointed with the selection. We are not fussy eaters, but it was pretty poor. Even couples who had been there for 2 weeks had said the food had become much worse throughout the 2 weeks. We were not ill though and the quality of what was there was ok.
The hotel was full of Spanish pensioners, many were friendly and pleasant.
Entertainment was aimed at the Spanish guests there were about 95% of the guests there. It was pretty full.
I would stay there again, it was well enough away from the front, so that it was not built up.
Would be excellent for Port Aventurer 5 minute walk away.

The hotel was clean and tidy at all times.
Breakfast was good, but dinner was not so good. We ate out most nights.
This time of year was quiet a lot of shops and bars had closed for the year.
Salou was great. Lovely place. If you make your own way to resort, there is a man in a booth at the airport. Go and see him, he offers a great service to and from the airport and very cheap.
We would go back to Salou but not this hotel.
Do get a bus trip to Barcelona. 12 euros each and great day out. Warning stay on the bus till it stops in the tourist part of Barcelona; we got off too soon and were in the commercial part! Buy the tickets from a booth on the beach front in Salou

My name is Maria. I was in Sol Costa Daurada Hotel in November 2004,
The hotel was good but the STAFF IN RECEPTION was very BAD.
We are old persons from Spain and they spoke to us in very bad manners. They were very impolite. If you asked them by a simple question, they answered you in very bad manners.
If you had a problem, they write it in a paper without seeing in your eyes.
They need good education. They need GOOD MANNERS !!! with old people.
We are from the group of the IMSERSO HOLIDAYS. Yes !!! This is a cheap way of traveling using the government. But I think it is not the problem. It should not be the problem.
I don't know if they are only impolite with these kind of people. I'm sure not, because I saw their faces and their way of acting, and it is not the best way to speak with the customers.
Thank you very much,
