Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

resort was loud...but hey you are on holiday...althought the hotel is off the main road it still gets loud and the other apprtments around it were really loud.
but as I said its only 2 star so very basic but clean and perfect for us as all we did was sleep in it and spent the rest of the time at the pool

Generally good resort lots of bars/restaurants/cafes but majority of it is purpose-built for holiday-makers so it lacks a bit of "authentic charm" or whatever you want to call it. Its all pretty flat so if you have any mobility issues/prams etc. you shouldn't have too many problems. Good beach - a lot of people on it but because it is quite large (long and wide) the crowds are not really a problem. Cambrils and Tarragona are worth a visit. Very nice firework display whilst we were there.

Resort very clean, no rubbish lying about, didn't go out much with us being all inclusive, but there did seem plenty entertainment on around the pubs. The beach was lovely and clean very busy, but plenty little beaches if you don't

I was amazed at how clean Salou is kept. Everywhere you look is spotless. The resort has entertainment all around. The beach is very clean. You can walk out quite far out into the sea before the sea bed falls away. The flatform in the sea is ideal for swimming out to and having a rest before swimming back.
I would recommend this resort to anyone. Port Adventura is a must visit. Not only for the rides but the fantastic shows that go on all day.

the village area of Cap Salou is 5mins walk from the med village and has a selection of eateries-The Paddock being the best of all-they accept the kids eat free card too,so saved a lot over the course of a week.Christian and Carla are so friendly especially with the kids.
small ride area across the road from the Paddock with a bouncy slide.trampolines and mini motorbikes-passes a wee while after dinner.
plenty of buses just outside the hotel for Salou,La Pineda etc and the tourist train is a good way to catch a cool breeze.

La Pineda is located between Salou and Tarragona. A much quiter resort than Salou, with corresponding less things to do. If you want fantastic nightlife, either jump on the bus, take a taxi or stay in Salou. There is a range of bars and restaurants will please most guests. Some specifically for British guests offering the British food/ drinks and some obviously catering for a more international clientelle. There did appear to be more leaning towards Seafood. The range of shops is what you'd expect from this type of resort, mostly the tourist beach towl/ T-shirt type. There are a few supermarkets (Londis style) including a Carrefour Express - much closer to a Tesco Express. The beach was cleaned every morning, although for some reason the many visitors don't like to use the bins, so the beach can get a bit dirty by the end of the day - and when we stayed the beach was busy until dark. There are some "porta loos" located along the beach, which again were cleaned/ emptied every night BUT were pretty poor during the evening. A kids park was located just off the beach which was busy in the evenings. Plus a small fountain and a few market stalls. All in all a pleasent walk during the day/ evening. We also saw on a couple of evenings some local entertainment/ shows. Not sure how frequent they were.
One thing to be aware of with La Pineda, is it's location against the Oil refinery at Tarragona/ container port. Basically this means you'll see a few large cargo ships sail past (as a guess a mile off-shore). Personally we found these quite fasinating how large these ships are and didn't affect our enjoyment of the beach/ view at all, although it can put some people off.
The local buses were fantastic, regular buses to Tarragona, Cambrils as well as Salou and Port Aventura. Plus the local bus company provide excellent local tours. The major bus stops have staff at the stops - wearing yellow hi-vi pull overs. If you intend to travek by the local bus, you must buy the T10 bus card. Initially costs 11 Euros for 10 journeys. Top ups for another 10 journeys cost 9 Euros. Unlike the London Oyster card, the T-10 card can be used by more than one person. So a family of 5 would use 5 journeys each way. The card was roughly half the price of cash fares on the bus and could be used for all local journeys - not the trips or tours.
La Pineda was much quieter than Salou, but still had enought to do for a nice pleasent walk. A lot less "tacky" than Salou.

amazing beaches beutiful promenades lovely family resort. Pavements are broken and unkept on the side streets due to overgrown palm tree roots. A lot of dog foul so beware where you put your feet when off the main walkways.
