The rooms were very clean but very dim - the hotel policy of only using 25 watt light bulbs caused problems as we couldn't see to read, get ready for dinner or avoid anything on the floor. Reception refused to get us brighter bulbs, so we bought our own.

Reception staff can be snotty - and they charge to call a cab!

The hotel shop is adequate, but be warned - if you leave any books in the information room for other guests, the shop takes them to sell. I wrote on the first page of our books that they had been donated.

Most of the staff are lovely, but the bar service can be very slow - 30 minutes wait for a drink.

The hotel is ideally situated close to the marina and transport to the nearest town of Sousse.

This hotel is not suitable for children over 7 or 8, as there is nothing for them to do. We had the delightful experience of a gang of kids playing in (and breaking) the lifts and rampaging all over the hotel at all hours. Again, reception did nothing to stop it. This is no fun when you are getting up at 5am to visit the Sahara.

We were impressed by initial sighting of the hotel. Reception was very clean and staff helpful.

We were then advised to leave our bags as we only had 30 mins to catch the main evening meal. The meal itself was OK, but we felt as though we had missed most of the choices even though here was still 30 mins to go.

Room was very nice, even though English speaking satellite is advertised, don

This is an update of last years review.

Room was slightly better this year but disappointed not to get that great sea view again.

Once again no complaints at all about this hotel. All the staff, especially the cleaner for the loos on the beach, are so friendly and helpful.

Main meal served by our waiter, Tariq, and he knew we liked our food very hot and made sure it was.

Second time and will be going again.

Food is brilliant with a good chioce on offer
hotel is always spotless and really clean, especially rooms
staff are excellent with the waiting staff and bar staff being particularly good, easy to be-friend!!!!

Location is particularly excellent with the beach only being a short wander away, and the marina a 2 minute walk, with many shops and restaurants.
Entertainment could be better, but more than adequate!
have visited this hotel 3 times now!! Excellent!!

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Marhaba Palace the location is great, as it is a short walk down to the Port, which has a great area for open-air restaurants to watch the world go by.

The Hotel is as said in previous reviews impressive in the main reception area. The cleanliness is of a high standard in the rooms and hotel.

The Pool is easy to reach and a 50m walk to the beach which is great and offers many water sports.

The waiters are very friendly and will assist in any way they can, so a good tip will ensure extra attention to detail.

The entertainment is not great but we made friends easily.

My only disappointment is the lack of sunbeds available in a morning due to the usual early morning callers putting towels on the beds and leaving them empty for most of the day which seems to be a common complaint with the guests.

Overall very enjoyable and I would go back again.

A good tip. As this is a Muslim country and alcoholic spirits are very expensive at the bar you might want to get some duty free to drink in the room if you are a Whiskey drinker as it is about

Just got back from the Marhaba Palace Hotel in Port El Kantoui, which is around 30 years old.

We wanted to stay in the same resort as last year and nearer the port which is only 500 metres approx.

There are 4 very quick lifts to all floors, reception is very large filled with marble columns and plenty of seating if you don't want to sit in the main bar area, which has some entertainment in the evenings. Otherwise go the to the night club, but take a torch as you will never see how much the waiter has charged you for drinks.

Suggest you don't waste your time visiting this part of the hotel.

There are 3 eating areas, one for breakfast, the waiters will bring you tea/coffee, and then you help yourself.

In the evening you go to another area, where you don't have to share a table, like you do in some other hotels.
Again, the waiters will sort out drinks, starters and sweets you help yourself, but the main course normally a selection of 5 will be brought to your table. You can see the daily menu just outside every day.

This was ok for a week, but could be boring is staying for longer.

Very friendly staff, always have a smile and willing to help with anything. Nothing is too much trouble. They will of course expect a small token of appreciation at the end of your stay.

The rooms are a little dated but spacious. Sadly the air conditioning was not available during our stay (Sept 19 - 26th incl), being switched off after the high season where temperatures were in the mid 40's only a few weeks ago.

This was our third trip to the Marhaba Palace and we enjoyed it as much as the first time. The hotel was always clean and the little personal touch from the maids was fantastic, this year the hotel had replaced all four lifts so they were more reliable.

The food was good as always with the six choices of main course to cater for nearly every taste and staying for two weeks ment we were able to try everything on the menu, we can highly recomend the Tunisian special as this is always of high quality and a different meal every night.

The location of the hotel is well situated to cater for all and this is one of the reasons we keep going back.

Hotel staff could not do enough for you and not all expect a tip, the bar staff in the main bar are very friendly and after acouple of days knew what we wanted to order without us having to say too much.

The entertainment was more varied this year, but we still enjoy the Marhaba band and at the end of one evening we got speaking to the keyboard player and got a small language lesson.

Wife & I stayed here from 19th Sep to 3rd Oct 04 were really pleased with the hotel and location was perfect. Plenty to eat plenty to choose from for breakfast, main meals were not very big but with all the variety of starters on offer and as much as you want, the sweets were in a section of their own,and if like me you like the sweet things you can go mad in there.

Waiters were nice the chap who used to serve us used to say "lubbly jubbly",never had to wait many minutes to get served, as soon as they noticed you had finished your starters they would bring out the main course.

The only thing we did not like was on the first night you were taken to a table and told ! this is your table for every night ! But then all of a suddden another couple came and sat down on our table, as it happend they were quite nice, but they admitted they would rather sit on their own.

The room was nice 2nd floor overlooking the front and the sun was there most of the time , nice to have a sit on the balcony in the afternoon when we came up from the beach.

The beach was nice and the chairs were free but there was a " compulsary" tip for the chap who brought them to you, what was nice was no hassle at all from anybody,I thought after reading some reports that it was a major complaint so that was good.

The pool area is really nice and there is a small restaurant/cafe to get something to eat or drink, the same by the beach we used to have our lunch there most days, I even noticed the waiters come down onto the beach with drinks, Another good point is where the beach restaurant is there is a toilet block which was always kept clean.

Staff were all very nice apart from the reception area where I found them quite a surly and abrupt bunch. And the chap on the door "sometimes" never smiled never hardly spoke except on the last day he kept asking me what time I was leaving so he could fetch my bags down.

Panorama let me down on the last day when I had to get the Doctor for my Wife who was quite ill, think it was a virus ? I could not get hold of the rep, even went over to Kanta hotel to see resident rep, and gave her our room number as the Doctor said he would come back at 5.30 pm to see if with another injection my Wife was fit to travel, in the end made our own way to the airport to fly home.

To wind this up yes we would go back to this hotel again my wife and I have travelled extensively for over 40 years and found the Marhaba Palace Hotel to be a really nice place to stay.

Our first time to Tunisia so did not know what to expect. Excellent hotel and looked quite impressive. Very much a four star one. Excellent decor throughout and very clean.

Rooms cleaned everyday with towels and sheets. Food was bland but there was always something on the menu that you could eat. Staff were very good but you did need to tip quite often I found.

Not much entertainment in the evening but was not bothered as people very friendly. Pool areas were very nice and very clean and you could usually get a sunbed.

Short walk to the nice beach but was very crowded at this time of the year which was to be expected.

We stayed for 1 week at the Marhaba Palace and had a fantastic time. There were three adults in our party and we were given a Suite which was lovely can not fault it at all very spacious and also the maids kept it lovely and clean and also folded our nightwear into lovely shapes each morning! The food was presented very nicely you have a choice of either soup or salad for you starter and then 5 main meals to choose from (main meal waiter served) the main meals are quite small and abit unusual but still ok. You have a selection of sweets for your third course, something which we were not happy with is you do not get the offer of tea/coffee after you meal! its not included!
The hotel is situated right on a lovely white sandy beach and you can walk to the marina via the beach which is lovely or you can go via the road which is about a 5 min stroll.
The hotel staff are really friendly but they do like to be tipped even coming to find you on your last day to say good bye (so they can recieve a tip) even if you havent seen them all holiday! They do work really hard and nothing is too much trouble for them!
They have entertainment everynight but it might not be to everyones taste.
