The Mariner was a short walk away but felt quite intimadated walking down there at night as the were still people hassling to eat and drink in their restaurants, and the constent call of Hashish for Sale.
Although these would have been nice not to encounter was easy to ignore the 'pot pushers' and the restaurant staff didn't wander too far from their tables. Sousse was a short taxi ride for the Port about 5 Dinar

The food was to say the least amusing especially the first day when we went down for breakfast to see boiled cabbage & chopped up hotdogs! i do realise they do cater for other nationalities as there were quite a few germans/spanish/french , but still found it a little hard to find a variety of things to eat on the same plate. Note the cabbage did look nice though! maybe I'm just fussy though as I was a head chef for 14 years.
We had our main meals at the marina and surrounding area to which were fine to a foreign standard.
Would I visit this hotel again? well I'm afraid not as I will explain further in the next bit the harassment we had to eat/drink/quad bikes/camel rides/look in the hotel shop were non stop, even when the polite words 'No Thank you' were said they still persisted, the final straw came when the phone rang in the room to offer food/drinks .
I feel this was one of the main factors in ruining our holiday the constant & i mean constant hassling for parting with our money! You should feel relaxed in your own hotel & not have to dodge the shops or nuisances trying to flog you something.

The outside pool was very small for the size of the hotel but the indoor one is a fair size.
There are lots of bars and a few places to eat in the hotel but we mostly eat down the marina.
We did have to ask for clean towels otherwise sometimes they wouldn

We were booked as self catering but did not bother cooking ourselves. We had some meals at the restaurant in the hotel and these were poor. Breakfast was not too bad but more based on continental type rather than the full English monty. Lunches were served either at the poolside snackbar or the snackbar on the beach and consisted of sandwiches, pizzas and other types of snack. These proved to be the best of the bunch. Dinner was served at the main buffet restaurant. Although there was a hughe selection of food available, the quality was poor and can be best described as tasteless. Be aware of the so called "Gala Dinner" for which we paid 25 Dinar per head. It was mediocre. Poor quality for a so called Gala Dinner in the A-la-carte restaurant. The main meal consisted out of dry rice, chicken with no flavour and a few vegetables. Drink prices are also higher than the other restaurants and bars.
The hotel is not beachside and you had to walk for about 5 minutes to it. The beach itself is small and therefore feels cramped with the number of loungers packed onto it. You need to be at the beach no later than 10AM to get a lounger as there are not enough provided for all guests.
Staff were all very friendly and would go out of their way to assist you. This proved to be the plus point of the hotel.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel but would not return again unless they improve on their food.

We were self catering but did use the hotel pizzeria which was very good and lovely service.
We did not use the pool area but the beach was about 2 minutes away. We got a lounger every day no mattter what time we arrived and if you don't get a hotel bed the others only charge 1 dinar (40p) for a whole day's use.
We did not partake in much in house entertainment but what we did see was very good (and the TV in the room had a film channel which was English which helped).

Whilst we didn't eat at the hotel, other than lunch by the pool, it was a short walk to the main port where there was a large selection of restaurants to choose from.
Probably the only thing that we found slightly annoying about the hotel was the pool. It was nice and clean although a little on the small side considering how many people were staying there. The fight for the loungers was a little off putting and they tend to have local music playing for most of the day. However, the beach was just a 2 minute walk away and loungers were always available there. We also used the pool of the 5* hotel down the road which was much bigger and had a swim-up bar, umbrellas etc.
We will definately be coming back to Tunisia and would be more than happy to stay here again.

The meals are rubbish. Breakfast consisted of eggs (omelette etc.) cereals, croisssants, Frankfurters cut into samll pieces in tomato and cabbage ? Rice pudding ?
The staff in the restaurant were friendly as were all the other staff,
The beach is about 5mins walk and is very good . dident see any broken loungers.
No air con untill 1st June and this was not stated by first choice and the temp about 32 degs as it was so hot in the room we had to have the door open at night and got bitten all over arms and legs.
The town is about 10 mins walk away and is clean and tidy
overall we would return to El Kantaoui but not to this hotel

Reception staff were a little rude. Food was super! If you are expecting egg and chips then why bother travelling to an arabic culture? Its another country and we should respect there ways and try new things.
Entertainment was ok staff put in alot of work, I think they should try and get some new ideas though - ask holiday makers for some ideas maybe. Will not visit Tunisia again as it has been poorly developed and is nearly as bad as Malta for its planning and design ideas buildigs just thrown up anyware>- part of one of the greatest cultures could be a much better place real shame.
Beware when eating out as hand washing does not seem to be a priority or manly thing to do.

Breakfast was laid out in a buffet style with a rather odd mixture of European food and Tunisian food, rarely labelled so it was difficult to know what you were eating. Typically for food prepared for large numbers the quality varied, as did the cleanliness, unfortunately mainly rather poor, we even had to fish a beetle out of our pancakes on one morning. The other restaurants/cafes in and around the hotel were of a good quality with polite staff.
The reception staff appeared fairly surly but generally the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, although would often expect tipping.
The hotel was only minutes away from a very nice beach, unfortunately the constant pestering, sometimes uncomfortably lecherous, meant we only visited the beach on a few occasions, preferring instead to fight for a place by the rather small hotel pool.

The rooms were clean enough however some parts of the hotel could use a coat of paint.
