There is not much for children and teenagers to do in Tunisia but you can also find something to do!!

Port El Kantaoui is about a 10 min ride on a Tuk Tuk - great fun do it at least once (also horse and carriage rides available). The resort was very nice but you are quite away out and we tended to stick around the hotel - where there was enough going on. The beach was gorgeous sea a bit rough at times for me and cold - I prefer the warm med!
The children fondly remember our camel\horse rides into the country and always talk about Tunisia as the best hotel we have stayed in therefore in our opinion a bargain holiday.

Resort dirty, beach dirty, had money stolen from wallet when I went out on a jet ski, we whitnessed this happening on many occasions SO BEWARE BEACH VENDORS WILL ROB YOU BLIND.
Its no supprise that this hotel has lost its gold status
it is far from THOMSON GOLD STANDARDS, and was an insult to be known as one. Will never be returning again

Some times the beach isn't as clean as it could be.
You can if you choose walk along the beach into PEK.
PEK has many shops, a zoo and places to eat.

TUNISIA
Tunisia had never been any where on my list of destinations but we were looking for a cheap winter break for a group of 6 celebrating Anniversaries/Birthdays we were looking for somewhere reasonably warm in March and cheap and were offered an A. I. Deal at £307 per person (the equivalent in the Canaries would have been over £500 so it was off to Port El Kantaoui. (PEK)
First impressions on arrival were not good it had been pouring down and it took us 2 hrs to clear the immigration where they check your entry visa card. This was the first occasion in any airport that my luggage arrived on the carousel prior to me.
However the following morning we awoke to blue skies and sunshine which lasted all week it was however very breezy and too cool to lie on the beach, but round the pool was fine.
If you are considering Tunisia but are a bit dubious as to what to expect I can recommend PEK it is a purpose built resort and you could be anywhere in the Med there is a large Marina surrounded by bars and shops also more shops a zoo and fun park at the back of the town. Top tip try the Brau House the German beer keller near the fun park, they brew the beer in a huge automatic brewery behind the bar and it is probably the only proper alcoholic drink in town.
If however you are wanting the full traditional Tunisian experience you will need to look elsewhere.
Although still not top of my list I think we will certainly be visiting Tunisia and PEK again.

As I said earlier, the marina is where all the action is, such as it is. This is not Ibiza. Nice restaurants in a nice setting, but not clubbers paradise. Some bars, but really the hotels provide their own entertainment, and out of season that may not even be every night. The hotel discos are woefully under-attended, so no atmosphere. But still great value for the luxurious surroundings.
Stayed in Port el Kantaoui. Lovely town. Many shops open in the evening. Beach is lovely with lots of watersports.
I only visited the resort 3 times during the week, as our hotel catered for my requirements, but other members of my party visited more often.
Port El Kantaoui and the Marina is beautiful with plenty of bars/ cafes restaurants and boat trips available. Lots of ‘barter’ shops and a few fixed price ones as well. Leather goods are good quality and dirt cheap.
The resort was busy by day and almost deserted by night, and we were very disappointed at the lack of evening entertainment and atmosphere. The liveliest thing we saw was an illuminated animated fountain. The lack of evening activities may be attributable to the time of year (March)and the cool evenings.
We discovered on our last day the bar that has its own brewery, and I think tasted full strength beer for the only time during out holiday. Maybe that's where everyone was during the evening !

The resort was kept spotless and you never saw any litter anywhere.
No entertainment in Port El Kantoui at night, very quiet but early in the season. However, don't imagine it every gets too lively but then it's not that kind of resort.
Spotlessly clean beach.
Downside was the hassle from vendors - you just can't browse. I know these guys are trying to make a living but they're losing out because people just walk away as they are so pushy. We would probably have bought more if they had just left us alone to look and choose and then of course nothing has a price - you really have to be brass necked and offer them way below what they ask before reaching a compromise. If you're brave enough to visit Sousse - cover up! Our 12 year old daughter was wearing three quarter length trousers and a long sleeved t-shirt and still the comments the men were making were bordering on obscene. I found this really offensive as we wore appropriate clothing to respect their views but they clearly had no respect for the tourists and I'm absolutely certain they would not speak to their own people like that. If you can ignore this however and do some serious haggling, you will come away with bargains.
Another nightmare is the airport - be prepared for lengthy waits at the airport on your arrival as immigration and passport control is very slow. A good idea on your return home is to beat the rush by taking a taxi to the airport maybe around an hour before your tour bus is due to pick you up (don't forget to let your rep know). The taxis are cheap (if a bit scary!) - we paid 25 dinars from Port el Kantoui to the airport. We were first at the check-in desk which opened promptly and didn't have to queue anywhere - an hour later when all the coaches started arriving it was bedlam.
All in all a great experience but I won't rush back to Tunisia for a few years by which time hopefully there will be a clearer understanding between the locals and the tourists of what is and isn't acceptable.
