The resort was very nice picture perfect, quite quiet of a night, the food was ok i dont think they catered for the british much, they had like pizza and things and kerbabs, but i ordered a fried egg on toast and it came with salami and cheese on it then the egg on top when i explained to the waiter i didnt order that he said thats the way we do it, didnt say we'll we'll change it, the same with my boyfriend he ordered hamburger we asked for it plain and it was covered in mayonasie and they didnt change it. The beach was fab, good water sports, taxi's were very cheap and aways around, take a trip in to sousse for shopping but check the fixed price shops first they are a lot cheaper than the haggling shops a lot. Also not far from the hotel quad biking through the farms was exellent.

The resort itself if purpose built for tourists and is spotless. The white building in the marina are goergeous and really are picture postcard perfect. In the square there is a fountain where there are coloured lights and the water dances to music.
There are alot of locals in the square in the evenings - don't let this put you off, they are harmless, you very rarely see any females and the males out number the female locals 4:1.
Fake goods, leather shoes, bags, wood carvings etc can be bought at very good prices but barter. The locals are comical shouting "cheap as chips" "asda price" "allo mate" and if you can take over booze especially whisky then that will buy you almost anything you want!!
Visited other parts of Tunisia and had i been to them first then i would not have returned to Tunisia - Port El Kantaoui is perfect!

El Kantaoui had something to offer everyone. There were plenty of water sports if these were desired and the marina itself is beautiful. There were various bars and restaurants on the water front. There are several nightclubs to choose from which seemed very popular but well run, clean and modern. We particularly liked Red Iguana. The beach could do with a clean up but the sand is beautiful and some parts of the beach have been attended to.
one thing i noticed about the resort is that the locals don't think twice about throwing their litter on the floor! which is a shame coz its a beatiful place but the littering spoils the look of it!
the beach was really nice, and entertainment good too, plenty of bars and cafes! the discos aren't so great, lots of 80's pop and early 90's dance music!!!
but i would certainly visit the resort again, but i don't recommend that women travel alone or with just a friend as its draws to much attention from the men and can make you feel uncomfortable and intimidated sometimes!!

Heard lots of views about Tunisia, but Port El Kantaoui was recommended by a friend.
It is very upmarket (i believe compared with other resorts in Tunisia, the friend has been to various places in Tunisia.)
It has a beautiful harbour, with bars and restuarants around, however getting an alcholic drink out of the hotel can be tricky.
Also a golf course near by. Well placed for trips as well.
Very happy with hotel so did not venture far.

The main resort is Port el Kantoui. It is only a 10-15 walk from the Hotel Riviera. There is a vast number of shops, and a great choice of ideas for presents. Be aware the some of the shops a fixed price so this means you do not haggle for a price. You can also take boat trips of this port, including submarine rides. The is also a suba diving centre.
The main town further on is Sousse. A taxi from the hotel is very reasonable, but you must make sure it is a yellow taxi. This is a much bigger area, and we did find that it was easy to get lost in amongst the back streets. In the twon centre is a shop called a soula, this is a fixed price shop like a small department store. We found that the prices in here were a bit expensive.

We really didn't notice anything untoward regarding cleanliness in the resort nor did we see much entertainment in the resort except if you class trying to avoid being harassed in the Marina whilst trying to look in the shops (don't like been bullied into shops gets on my nerves). the beach was excellent the guys on the beach were great fun - especially the boat driver when taking you up parascending. Used to take my husband out for trips free of charge!! Always managed to get beds etc., on beach no matter what time of day. Also a very nice beach bar which belongs to Hotel Royal Kenz. All in all we had a really relaxing holiday. Oh by the way the weather was absolutely beautiful.
the marina is excellent in port el kantaiou, you can go for trips on boats and it even has a boat resterant witch is very tasty. not much night life but it is a fantastic resort to visit
The resort is not immaculate but the rubbish is only from the typical tourist who have no respect for their surroundings there are enough bins around to dispose of your rubbish.
The entertainment in the port is the best in Tunisia with a good atmosphire, many good restraunts and cheezee shops. The small funfair is also great for younger kids.
The beach standard outside the other hotels is far better than the survivor they even empty the footwells you wash your feet in more than once every 25 years. The others do there's at least twice a day if you have seen the soviva's you will know what I mean.
I have made reservations at a proper hotel just behind the survivor for next year. I did this on the third morning of our expierience when I went to see if they had any rooms available for the rest of our stay unfortunatly they were full but they did allow us to use all of their facilitys as they understood how distraut we were. We spent around 75% of our time there and can not wait to return.
