The food was good and had a good selection, dinner was different everynight. There is also a waiter service (which is great gor chilling out) If you are not up for a relaxing holiday, then dont go here its a very chilled out hotel.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The hotel is in need of a lick of painting (which they have started doing)
I would recomend this hotel!!
Hope this is of use to you.

With regards to meals, they have tried their best to cater for all tastes and cultures.
Breakfast consisted of eggs (scrambled/boiled/fried), beans and sausage ( albeit the Tunisian variety ) for the English, breads, hams and cheeses for the Germans/Dutch and cereal, toast, melon etc for the rest of us.
Dinner always included some form of fish, chicken and beef with a variety of vegetables and salads, and usually chips/pasta for finicky eaters, while the deserts were delicious - icecream, cakes and fruit.
As we were half-board, we either ate out in town or in the restaurant by the pool which was adequate. Menu mostly consisted of pizza (which was ok), steak (lovely), omelette (just okay), Tunisia brik (delicious if you are adventurous) etc.
This was still much better than the restaurant next door (Iberostar Sahara Beach) which only had hamburgers, pizza and hotdogs and they were completely tasteless.
The Sahara Beach was also packed solid most of the time as the pool area was larger and newer-looking, so if you prefer fighting for sunbeds and a space in the pool, go there instead.
The one interesting thing we learned from this website was the location of the local shop, just outside the hotel, which sold water and other drinks at half the price of the hotel shop. Go out of the front gates, turn left, and take the first right that you come to (it is a new road which is still being built) and it will take you to the Miami shopping centre which is about a 5 minute walk. The long way involves walking left to the end of the road, then turning right and is about a 15 minute walk.
Skanes is a lovely resort and is ideal for families as it is so quiet. We did take a day trip to Carthage with Panarama which involved a 3 hour bus-trip with our daughter - nightmare! - though the 10 minute trips by taxi into Monastir and Sousse were a lot easier. Monastir is much prettier than Sousse and has lovely restaurants on the beach front, while Sousse was rather smelly being a fishing port.
Once again be aware of haggling and whatever you do, don't take the "free" trip to the local medina that some guy offers you on behalf of Panarama. He only takes you to his mates' carpet shop and they do their best to intimidate you into buying a carpet at outrageous prices. When they realise you aren't going to buy, they get very angry with you and it can be quite uncomfortable.
Also beware the guy who comes around at dinner (and even by the pool) taking photos of you as he will then charge varying amounts for the pictures afterwards. He got very annoyed with us as we did not want out photo taken, but he took it anyway, and when we refused to buy the photos he hounded us almost every evening, eventually saying "What am I supposed to do with these?"
As we were worried about our daughter's milk, we hired a fridge for 5 dinars per day and so always had cold water in our room.
Try and take most things you read on this site with a pinch of salt. It really is a decent hotel but if you want top class, you will have to pay for it at another hotel. Tunisia is a beautiful country and we are very pleased that we went.

My self (23) and my boyfriend (24) were seated beside another couple and their kids. Then we asked for a table on our own and they put us beside two other people we didn't know.
We had to get a taxi to Sousse every night for our dinner which we didn't mind because it was nice in there.
The hotel staff were very nice except for a few behind the reception desk. They were a bit rude and were no help at all.
The location of the hotel was a disaster. it was in the middle of no where. But the beach behind the hotel was lovely.
The entertainment was fine but it was more based towards children. Some of it was good. We went to a magic show one night and the nightclub was alright there.
I would never go back to this hotel again and i'm suprised by the four star rating. The rooms were very bad. We were at the side of the hotel and if our balcony door was open the noise of the fan's outside would keep us awake but if we didn't we had to turn on the air conditioning which made more noise.
There was nothing around the hotel either only a couple of hotels but no shops unless you go into the hotel next door.

My advice do not go to this hotel!!!!

The rooms are shabby with towels that are threadbare and stained. Satellite TVs are advertised but you need to ask as not in all rooms. The pool area has flaky paint which sticks to you when getting out of the pool.
The food is served in a buffet style based on a school canteen. Tables have to be shared with complete strangers as not enough tables. The food lacks variety and taste and is accompanied with flies. Food not used turns up the next day as stews or fritters. Breakfast is disgusting with runny scrambled eggs and stale bread. Juice and milk comes tepid from a dispenser. Towards the end of the week you lose the will to eat.
The location is not far from the airport in the middle of nowhere. No shops or restaurants around need to get a taxi into Sousse. The only good point being the hotel leads onto a beach where you can relax.
The staff are friendly and do the best they can apart from the beach sun lounger man who seemed to be in a mood every day. Sun loungers had to be paid for by the pool and on the beach that is if you could find one not broken. Everyone on the beach had to collect and drag their own loungers and would have to wait until midday for the mats to be brought to you.
Entertainment consisted of bingo, karaoke, muscle man and the team dressing up as women as much as possible.
Most people in this hotel are allocation on arrival paying to ensure 4 stars and this is the only way it is filled.
At the most this hotel is only a 1-2 star and travel companies should be ashamed to send people here.
I would never visit this hotel again and would urge people who have booked allocation on arrival to be aware that this may be where you could end up.

On arrival yes we were seated with another couple we didn't know. Not to happy with that, but we complained and the following day were seated on our own. There were alot of couples seated with the unknown, but unless you speak up then thats your seat for you length of stay.
The food was just okay. My other half being a veggie i was a little concerned, but there was always something to eat, even if it did include a plate of chips..!!! Breakfast was okay. Fried eggs, or scrambled eggs.To have toast you needed plenty of time and patients. But depending on the type of person you are, bit of toast and egg and a coffee suits me in the morning (no complaints).
Pool area, was okay. Yes there was lots of paint coming off round the pool, needs updating, but again, if you wanna go on holiday and pick up on every little detail then your bound to have a sad holiday. The big pool was 3 mtrs deep , no shallow end, bit of a pain but we just got a lilo to play around with, done the trick, no one drowned while we were there anyway. Beach was nice, although i do prefer a pool. Music can get to you a bit by the end of your holiday. Constant loud music, and plenty of games going on. I would have liked maybe just one day to read my book in silence, but they just want to try and keep everyone happy. Not all can win!!!!!
Plenty of food and drink to order whilst round the pool. Very friendly waiter always near by to help. Sun beds you have to pay for which i do think is a rip off.
Entertainment!!!! Very boring.!!!! Bingo, Bingo, Bingo, enough to make you go crazy. But upon booking this holiday i already knew it was a quiet resort and not much out side. We did go along to other hotels to see what was going on, which i would reccommend, otherwise you'd go mad sitting in watching the entertainment everynight. Im please we only stayed for 7 nights, - 14 nights god knows what we would have done to each other.
Our room was very clean, towels, and sheets were changed most days, no stains etc. We were on the first floor overlooking the mini golf, so the view was really nice.... But some of the complaints about the room i think were on the higher levels... We did hav a walk around and noticed some of the rooms were older than ours so maybe ours had been upgraded. Again , its up to the individual. We did ask to be moved so we could have the view of the sea. They were quite happy to do so, but in the end we decided to just stay where we were, so no complaints.
THe lounge in the hotel with the piano man.... You just have to go in there to see him. Ive never heard such a bad piano singer player. I was embarressed for him, i could have done better.
The hotel is dated, but its just okay.
We didn't pay megga bucks for this holiday, so i couldn't complain.. Under

The corridors carpets were stained, not enought lighting. Very dark and gloomy.
Furniture very old and marble floors dull looking, haven't been polished for years

When I arrived, the hotel did look quite shabby, the furniture was worn out, the carpet in the corridors dirty and it certaintly did not look like a 4 star, I had previously visited Tunisia and had stayed in a 3 star and I would say the El Hana was a 3 rather than a 4 star hotel.
We did get offered to move by the airtour rep after complaining on the 1st day, but decided to stay, we changed rooms to one which the bathroom was cleaner and overlooked the pool & sea view.
We put aside our feelings about the hotel itself and began to enjoy our stay there. The evening food was lovely, breakfast was very basic, the waiters were excellent and most of the staff were aswell. The entertainment during the day and night was quite good, it kept us busy.
So to conclude, the hotel wasnt that bad, I would return again if they refurbished it. For all those that hated it, well that's a shame, because this isnt just another european country where everything is the same, this is Tunisia, an arab country and the culture is very different and we loved that.

First impresions of room were nice and bathroom was fully tiled with seperate toilet, fabulous wiew of pool area and beach. we found rooms clean and maids came around every day to clean and change sheets if necessary.
There was a buffet breakfast and evening meal which we found very good and a great selection (4 different types each night).
During the day there was plenty of activities to do, the pool was one of the best I've seen 3mtrs deep but there was also 2 smaller pools for the not so good swimmers.
The waiting staff during our holiday were excellent, they weren't in your face but always near by if you wanted anything. The entertainment staff were very friendly too.
One of the best things about this hotel was the beach which is on your doorstep, with plenty of water sports priced very reasonable.
Although the night time is quiet, the evening is good with different shows on and the famous bingo bongo, we enjoyed it very much. There's also a night club in the hotel which was good.
Overall we had a brillant week and would certainly go back.
