Im a regular to Side and have been going every year nearly twice a year for the last 10 years. I think its a great holiday destination as long as you are up for a laugh and expect the unexpected.
A variety of clubs/cafes restaurants
A good mixture of old and new
Modern shops and ancient ruins work well together.
Don't be put off by shop keepers trying to entice you in to buy their produce.
They seem to accept any currency but usually give a price in Euros first. Haggling is part of the culture so get used to it.

The resort is catered predominantly for german tourists. German is the main language after turkish and all the locals assume you are german first. The beach was very crowded with each hotel having its own patch crammed with sunbeds.
If you like to go shopping this is not the area to go to unless you dont mind getting a taxi daily which would be costly 10 euros to Side each way or a dolmus to go anywhere.The taxis sit at the main gate and if you turn right and walk for 10 minutes there is a dolmus stop. There is a small set of shops about 10 minute walk either way wether you turn right or left but you will have walked round them both in 2 minutes there is also a chemist at each part. We went to Side by taxi it is not the most cleanliest place I have visited but there is a lot of shops,markets stalls there but try and look at anything and you have very little or no chance at all before the shopkeeper is trying to drag you in to there shop but that is Turkey for you and is very much the same as anywhere we have been in this country. We never seen any entertainment in the area outwith the hotel complex so cant comment on this. The hotel has its own private beach and is very clean it is a mixture of sand and shingles so watch your feet as the shells are sharp but would give it high marks and you can paddle in the sea a good 20-30 feet good for children.
