Hi,
This was my 6th cruise and my 3rd with Thomsons, I, my wife and family could not fault it, our outside Cabin on deck 3 was slightly small but more than adequate for our needs, we ate mostly in the seven seas restaurant where we found the food and the waiter service to be excellent. The onboard entertainment was very good and I would reccommend the shows in the can can lounge where you get very good shows with singers and dancers to entertain you through out the show. Our cabin was cleaned twice daily with the beds folded down in the evening and a chocolate left on each of the pillows. The staff were very polite and helpful. I would however avoid the Thomsons trips and do your own thing as I found them very expensive. We liked it that much we have booked another week for 16/3/07 with our freind and are looking forward to another great week around the canaries!

We did the Colourful Coasts cruise from Gran Canaria.
Not much to say about the quality of service, it's all been said here before, can't really be faulted.

Just an update on the entertainment staff roster.
Lee Oliver is the Cruise Director, our old friend from back in the Thomson Gold days Gavin Carroll is the Asst Cruise Director, he's still as good a laugh as ever!

The shows are excellent, really professional. One good thing is that they now get the first sitting guests to vacate the Can Can Lounge after the first show so that there is room for the second sitting guests, this system works well, nobody seemed to have a problem finding a seat.

The crossings from Gran Canaria to La Palma, and La Palma to Madeira were quite rough, the latter causing many guests to miss dinner that night. Steph was quite ill with the motion, but a £10 injection from the Doctor sorted her out for the rest of the week. £10 well spent!!

An indication of how they rip you off for the excursions is that Thomson wanted £50(POUNDS) each for the same trip we did with Strawberry World on Madeira at New Year, we paid Strawberry World €58(EUROS) for 2 of us!! Granted, Thomsons provide a lunch and the other trip does not but it's still a rip off.

Hi

Just returned from an enjoyable week, highlights and other as follows

Entertainment in show lounge first class, very good on board band as well (Juice).

Enertainment for teenagers non existent (Basketball!!!) no late night teenage disco, tv programmes etc. Teenagers could be seen wandering aimlessly at all times of day and night.

Food in seven seas great, buffet for lunch etc fine Breakfast very poor (Poor quality bacon etc)

Open to elements in buffet restaurant it would not cost a lot to close up the area and protect from the the weather. Due to this, this area was not as clean as it should be

Staff were very good and good fun to be with, all inclusive excellent offer

Excursions expensive but were fun even enjoyed Morrocco!!

Just returned from Colourful Coasts cruise, from Tenerife, this being our 3rd Thomson cruise, having done Norwegian Fiords, and the Med on the Celebration.
All round standard high, but we felt the Celebration has the edge in terms of cabin size, with the Destiny smaller but still quite adequate, and the Lido restaurant on the Celebration being larger and under cover, compared with the outdoor facilty on the Destiny.
Entertainment was excellent.
Food and service in the Seven Seas restaurant was superb, with food in the Lido buffet, and pool Grills being good.
We feel some of the trips are expensive, but if you are selective, you will find them enjoyable.
The excursion to Toroudant in Morocco was an eye opener to the Moroccan way of life, and the visit to a market was certainly an experience - we would not have ventured here on our own, but the local guides for the tour were excellenrt.
All the crew were friendly and effiecient.
If you are considering cruising, give Thomson ships a try, you will not be dissapointed.

This was our first ever cruise to celebrate my 50th - having a young 6 yr old son we looked around for suitable cruises and decided on the Destiny - what a choice! - From start to finish it was an experience of a lifetime which was throughly enjoyed by my husband, myself and young son
SHIP
The embarkment was smooth and easy - all the staff on board the ship were very friendly even though consisting of several nationalities - we were shown to our cabin which yes was on the small side (inside cabin) however adequate for the time we spent in it - the only gripe I have is that my hairdryer and straightners from home did not work even though travel adaptor was used and I had to use the hairdryer in the cabin and buy some straightners from onboard shop which wasnt very good - we always found the crew were cleaning all the time wherever we went on the ship - the hand cleanser was available at all points of eating places - the ship was set out really good however it did take awhile to get our bearings on the front and back of ship etc but the colour of the carpets did help alittle - the Cruise News was full of info and made nightime reading so we knew what to expect the following day
FOOD
We ate for a couple of nights in the Seven Seas and the menu was good - they even had a kids menu for our son to choose from - the waiters were very nice and entertaining
The Lido we found was quite windy however you could locate a table out of the wind
The Pool snacks were repetative every day however still good if you used it for a change
Food was available somewhere 24 hours a day
ENTERTAINMENT
What shows!! - the entertainment staff made our holiday - never before have I laughed so much and also my young son RYAN made a friend in SAM - whom he now has in a photo frame in his bedroom
The outfits and backdrops were excellent in the CAN CAN lounge and the gameshows in the OKLAHOMA LOUNGE were very entertaining and the audience made the night!! It was good that you would never miss a show due to the times allocated out after the evening meal sittings
Captains night not really my thing however enjoyed getting dressed up to meet the Captain with a handshake and a cocktail to drink whilst he made a short speech - not everyone dressed up to the nines for the occasion most wore just Sunday best or Xmas dress or mens suit
KIDZONE
Even though there were not alot of children on board the Kidszone team made all of them feel very welcome with sessions every day inc choc night, movie night, creepy crawlies and postcard making - my son thoroughly enjoyed the childs reps company and they entertained him well to the point that he did not want to come home - he even went to the club in place of the night shows
ITINERAY
The ports of call where alittle disappointing due to the time of year we sailed and the cloudy weather though still wore shorts and t-shirt with jacket at nights on deck - Grand Canaria was closed for shopping on Saturday due to the Feast of the 3 Kings and La Palma also was closed due to it being Sunday
We travelled on 2 organised trips the first being to Maderia which was great and a ride up in the cable car is a must -(I dont like heights however really enjoyed it) and my husband and son came down on the Tobbagon ride
Morocco was the 2nd trip and this is a place I would not like to revisit - I didnt like it at all
We never got to see Lanzarote due to adverse weather and arrived back into Tenerife early than expected
DISEMBARKMENT
There should have been an announcement to advise us to go to our awaiting coach however no announcement was made and it was word and mouth passed round to inform us that other people had got on the coach already - this maybe just a one off situation but take note
FUTURE CRUISES
Well we have got the bug now and my husband is surfing the net for another holiday - We will definetly go cruising on the Destiny again sometime in the near future if only to re meet the crew and entertainment staff again
WELL DONE THOMSONS FOR A VERY ENJOYABLE FIRST CRUISE - RECOMMENDING FRIENDS ALREADY

We booked the week back in November and found it reasonably priced. We boarded at Santa Cruz in Tenerife and cruised the Canaries, Madeira and to Morocco. We were impressed immediately by the friendly, helpful staff and the appearance of the ship. The Destiny is a large vessel and, like many others, can be a little daunting if you confuse your "ports" with your "starboards". Ours was an outside cabin on deck 3 and, whilst small, it was perfectly adequate for us. It had enough storage space, two comfortable beds, a W.C. that worked and a shower with constant hot water.
Having cruised with Thomson previously we expected quality food and entertainment - we were not disappointed by either. The meals, whether self serve or waiter served, were wonderful. The entertainment programme was designed to meet most tastes and you could generally find what you liked somewhere on board. After dinner each evening we made for the show lounge to be entertained remarkably well by a young group of 8 or so multi-talented singers/dancers/actors. They were every bit as good as any you would find in a top West End show. Better in fact - they performed a different show on each of our 7 nights aboard!! They were excellent.
The staff were hard working, good natured, extremely polite and always helpful. A credit to Thomson's.
Everything on board was as we had hoped for.
And just to make a perfect holiday even better - the sea was fairly calm and the sun shone warmly all week!! I cannot recommend this cruise highly enough.
I hope our next one (the Baltic in June) is as good.

COLOURFUL COASTS ITINERARY:

This is our third cruise with Thomson in 18 months and our third ship. We are trying out all of the Thomson fleet of ships.

The Destiny is the biggest of the fleet and as the past ships we sailed on, the cleanliness of the ship was superb!

When we embarked and arrived at our Cabin, we were delighted at the size of it! (I was tipped off about this particular cabin) Deck 7, outside Delux Cabin. You could hold a party in it, it was that big! Three picture windows, walk in wardrobe, 220 Volt plug ladies!!!! for hairdryer and most importantly straighteners!

The ship food was really nice, plenty of choice in all the restaurants, however we only ate in the Seven Seas a couple of nights. The Lido Self Service Buffet was really nice, as with my husband being vegetarian and a fussy eater, we tended to eat mostly in this restaurant so he could see what he was eating before putting it on his plate. This Restaurant is very exposed and can be cold, so you just have to be selective on where you pick your table.

During the day, pizzas, chips, salad, burgers, etc were served at the Pool Grill.

The Ships staff were very friendly, apart from a couple
of Staff who were a little abrupt with us. It was great seeing a lot of Staff we knew who had transfered from the Emerald! We got a hug and a kiss off some of them, which was lovely for them to have recognised us. My daughter was delighted. My daughter loved this ship out of all of the three we sailed on, as there were plenty of teenages her age on this particular ship compared with the other two Thomson ones we sailed on.

The onboard entertainment was good, but I have seen better on the Spirit and Emerald. I think because we have something to compare them with, you start being a bit picky, but in fairness to them, they were really good.

The Magician, come Comedian, was really funny, never laughed like this in a long time.

Kane the Senior Entertainment Manager was funny as usual (one that was previously on the Emerald).

There was something to do at all times of the day, we were never bored, be it watching battle of the sexes, or Mr & Mrs and watching cocktail making to Ice Carving and Food Carving. I admire the Chefs for their hard work and effort into the fabulous presentation of the food. The Gala night was superb!!

Would I sail on this ship again - Definitely yes!!!! Each of the three ships we have sailed on have pros and cons to each of them that we like or dislike. But we have had three fantastic cruises and would gladly sail on any of them again!! I do think this is a much better ship if you have teenage kids, as this seems to be the one more for families compared with the other two Thomson ones I have sailed on.

We intend to sail on her again on the Moorish Delights this year, so there you go!!! Roll on the summer!

This was my second cruise with Thomson but my partner's first. I was a bit apprehensive as he had spent 22 years in the Royal Navy. I needn't have worried - he loved it.

Our cabin, on Deck 6, was small but there were lots of hangars and adequate little shelves in the bathroom. We only had 110v electricity in the cabin (no 220 socket behind the T.V) so had to use the cabin hairdryer which only worked on one setting. I was aware that you cannot plug a 220v appliance into a 110v socket, even with an adaptor. This should perhaps be made clearer to travellers as many thought as long as they had an adaptor they could use the socket.

We thought the food was fantastic; we ate mainly in the 7 Seas Restaurant as we prefer waiter to self-service. All the staff worked very hard and were always pleasant and cheeful.

We took one organised trip in Madeira. This took you on the cable car and into the Botanic gardens. You then had half and hour to do some shopping if you wished. The rest of the time we did our own thing. In Agadir we took a petit taxi into the town, walked on the beach and had a drink in a cafe overlooking the sea. I wouldn't really recommend the Petit Train as it just takes you round the town where there is not much to see. French is the second and often the first language there.

This cruise was excellent value for money, especially as we had the free all inclusive drinks package.

I would recommend this cruise to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday with as much or as little to do as you want. It spoilt us for the week in a Tenerife hotel on the Cruise and Stay package. We look forward to our next voyage.

we had a bad start to our christmas cruise as we had to touch down in in lisbon as as someone took ill This may have been unavoidable but i thought the cabin crew were poor the way they handled the situationI witnessed a pregnant young lady being asked if she didnt like her seat because she kept standing up and going to the toilet She was also refused a hot drink despite the fact it was very cold with the door open.We arrived three and a half hours late. The cruise itself was very good We enjoyed all our meals in the seven seas .Our waiters raju and bonney were great The on board entertainment was first class. We did not stop at la palma or lanzaroteThe other stops were all good. The ship was very clean and all the public areas are in as new condition The ship staff were all excellent On the way back we did not get our free bracelet If it was not available they should have told us not promised we would give it us later SO to sum up The cruise was first class Thomsonfly need to train their staff

We cruised the Canaries for Christmas. Considering the substantial mark up on the "normal" price, we considered that we got poor value. For example, on Christmas Day,one cheap cracker between two people, no complimentary wine at table, mince pies on menu never materialised, the roast chestnuts appeared to be barely warmed tinned variety and the mulled wine was left undrunk on most tables on deck. Over the week, we never had a HOT meal, the food varying from cold to lukewarm. Breakfast bacon was most unappetising, appearing as if it was cooked on a dirty griddle and thrown in to the serving tin. Waiter service breakfast was no better. The waiters, though pleasant and trying to do their job, seemed to lack training and adequate supervision.
Now, on the Positive side...A nicely designed ship with excellent lounge/theatre layouts. Drinks prices most reasonable, though the all-inclusive package (which we didn't take, was poor value, as some drinks were surcharged on top!!..The shows and entertainment team were EXCELLENT, being as good as we have seen on many mega-liner cruises which we have taken.
