Having sailed on the Destiny last Augest all i can say is the cabins are a little on the small side but we had 4 in one, dont know which cabin you'v booked? It didnt spoil are holiday thought the engine noise helped us sleep! Was one of the best family holiday we'v had apart from cabin size excellent in every respect. Just back from Carabean with Ocean Village their cabins are beautifull but the food and entertainment dosent compare with Thomson. You'l have a great time hope this helps.

Just to say we thought the ship was great, very clean and tidy. Cabins slightly small but you get over it!Nothing to complain about the food its just where you eat it-(lido restaurant). The bar staff and waiters are Brill especially GEORGI, MICO, MILO, EMIL and OX!Someone on here mentioned that the destiny is like butlins, well unless butlins has gone up market since we've last been - because its clearly not!
As for the entertainment team they were amazing. Murder Mystery was Hilarious. The oklahoma lounge had a great entertainment team working together- you can tell they like working with each other!
Hope you all get another season if you want, Brilliant singers and entertainers.
Special thanks to Gavin, Gav, Vicks, Lauren, and Danny. Hope to see you all in the future.

Just got back from first cruise on destiny.
Went with my friend, everything was very good.
Ship- spotless public areas, always being cleaned, cabin stewardess was very good- serviced cabin (including clean towels)twice daily, the cruise news leaflet every evening was very informative for the following days information.
Staff- well to say you were treated as an individual is an understatement, they always went out of their way to make you feel special, the cabin stewardess was always pleasant and concerned when i lost my new jumper, (i did find it, someone had luckily handed it into reception), kenneth and salino our restaurant waiters were fantastic, they knew what we liked and didnt like and went out their way to get our favourites (extra kiwi on my plate and blue cheese every night-even when it wasnt on the cheese selection that night he'd go to kitchen and get some),
everyone was always pleasant and smiling, saying hello have a good day etc.
angel and james the head waiters were particulary pleasant and came to chat every evening.
the only negative comment ill say regarding staff was we felt reception to be miserable every time and didnt smile or seem bothered to want to help. but the good staff far far far out numbered this small issue.
Entertainment- good selection of organised day activities, gym classes, spanish lessons, cocktail demos, bingo, quizes, boules, darts to name a few of many,or do your own like we did, a basketball game with people we met, and evening entertainment was very good especially the cabarets in can can lounge, the team were so good! murder mystery and follow up shows also very good!
Food- how much????????? well im stuffed still. excellent choice all day, did buffet breakfast few times, then snack by pool deck or in lido, sometimes managed to squeeze in afternoon coffee n cakes, then excellent 5 course meal in the evening. too full to visit the midnight buffett or gala buffet night one evening( with excellent carvings of ice and food) what a display? camera worked overtime that evening!)
waiters did a sing-song most evenings which created a good atmosphere in the diningroom.(we heard they collected their tips to chip in and buy 2 new guitars-bless them!)
the last thing ill mention about food is a little tip...never buy a macdonalds in rome! (one of our ports of call), what a mistake, it rained so we ran into mcd's for coffee and a bit of lunch and the chicken nuggets were awful , so bad that i was ill for 3 days after them-(still recovering now!) had terrible pains in abdomen and fever, spoilt the rest of my trip as we had to leave ports after only an hour or so as i couldnt walk far and felt rotten.
Ports of call-villefranche,did our own thing, caught local train to monaco, saw all the sights of monte carlo/pisa-did the 1/2 day excursion to pisa good way to see the sights with transport and entrance tickets included-£30pp/Rome-did 'rome on your own' which was £32pp-basically had the transport into rome then a guide gave us a map and advised of us the best buses to get around rome, we bought ticket on the open top tour bus and got on and off it at our leisure, a good way to see the sights at our own pace and reasonable priced!
corsica-did our own thing, got off walked aroung the town, got on a mini-train for excursion aroung the coast for 1hr 30 mins, good!
mahon- rained heavy so we had a quick hour around the town, picked up some wine and bits then went to cabin and watched few films!
overall, excellent cruise, 190 photos to remember it all! cant wait for another one!

The ship was lovely. a little dated in the lounges but nice. the food was great but ate far too much, came back half a stone heavier! The staff were really friendly, especially Gavin, Vicks and Danny and werent everyone so proud of Danny when he was in the show! I would definately go on the ship again. Our Cabin steward Nicolleta was brilliant it was my dads birthday and he had left some cards in the cabin. She obvoiusly noticed the cards and so decorated the cabin in balloons. Also enjoyed the shows and quizzes lots. Secretely entered my dad into the Who wants to be a destiny winner quiz (he was the one with the bristolian accent) haha. we had a great holiday but did find it quite tiring. It would have been nice to have a day on the ship to relax as our only day at sea had rained all day! we were in a different place everyday and had lots of walking to do, we did a trip in Villefranche which was excellant and worth the £25, in Livorno we got a taxi to Florence which is an amazing place it cost 300 euros between the 9 of us so was really cheap. He waited for us for 4 hours and took us back to the ship. We got a train to Rome for 9 euros return and a taxi which took us direct to the collosseum. We then got another taxi to the vatican which totalled about 10 euros. We then decided to walk to the train station near the Vatican by following a map but ended up lost. We walked miles and had an amazing view over the top of Rome and then gave up and got a taxi back to the station which happened to be where we had started walking from! Corsica was great for shopping and menorca too the rain came down heavy but we still had a nice day. All in all a great holiday i would recommend to anyone.

Just back from the Destiny'd final week at sea this eason. Flight and transfer to ship went very smoothly. Once on board our bags were delivered to cabin within 30 mins. Unpacked and went to look around the ship and then spent the rest of the evening on deck for the "sail away" party. Woke up next morning to find a note under door stating that due to a "medical enmergency" during the night the ship had been diverted to Menorca to offload a passenger and we would no longer be going to our first port of call (Paelrmo, Sicily). We woudl instead be going to Corsica. First full day spent at sea and a jolly good time was had by all. Entertainment that evening was Moulin Rouge (excellent). Corsica, followed by Naples (Pompeii was great, Naples is a dump then onto Olbia in Sardinia (boring place), Toulon in South of France (very pretty port) final destination Barcelona was cancelled due to a spanish fishermen blockading the port so we headed back to Palma for an overnight stay in port which gave us a chance to visit the Caves of Drach with a final tour on the last day to the Inca Market.

The food on baord throughout the cruise was first class, only complaint was there was FAR TOO MUCH available. We were AI and we made the most of the cocktails and bar menu (didn't really appreciate having to fork out 95p each time I wanted a Bailey's but that did keep my focused and I managed to lay off them as if they had been free I would have pigged out and they would have had to roll me off the ship. Buffet Magnifique was a tad excessive, and there were a few too many formal and smart nights with only one casual which meant loads of clothes re-cycling or missing out on dinner in the Seven Seas.

Staff were very friendly (big mention here for our cabin steward AUNG).

Onboard entertainment was spot-on every night. Loved the Show Team and Richard who despite the fact that he clearly loves himself, he is a very amusing and entertaining chap. The comedian was excellent and managed to sell all his DVDs (only £10 or 15Euros. It ewas quite touching to see the team say good bye to each other on the quayside yesterday, several were in tears. The majority of them seemed to be going home yesterday. I spoke to Richard to told me that many of them would be unemployed and it was inevitable that this particular team would never work together again in full as any of them that do return next season may end up in other show teams as they have such experience they would be needed to form the backbone of new teams across the fleet. Gavin was due to leave the ship today and told us he wuodl be taking a few months off to have some rest. Richard was having three days off them going straight onto the Spirit crusing Eygpt for the winter season. I have definately caught the crusing bug and cannot wait to get back to sea. I have just about stopped swaying and feeling giddy but LOVED every minute of my fantastic week on the Destiny.

NB: We later heard that the sick passenger had passed away.

First ever cruise (I don't include the school cruise I did on the SS Uganda in 1982). I always thought cruising was only geared up for adults only, how wrong can you be, al I heard from my kids (aged 8 and 5) was is Kidszone on !!) Lorna and Clare were a credit to Thomson's the way the looked after the kids.

Cabin.

A little on the small side for 4 people. Did'nt feel confident in letting the kids sleep on the top bunks as the bunks did not have cot sides to keep you in so my wife and I climbed up to the top bunks each night. Just as well really as my boy feel out of bed, I'm pleased he did'nt fall 5ft!!!.

Anastasia our stewardess was very efficient and cleaned our cabin spotlessly twice daily. On 2 days we could tell she had not cleaned the cabin and that somebody else had done it. When we saw her next she told us that she had been unwell and her first concern was that our kids had not caught anything. We were treated to towel art and one night we had a swan in our sink and the last night we had a monkey hanging from the TV. Anasasia's going onto the Spirit, so whoever has her as a stewardess should be more than happy.

Food.
Superb, what more can I say. Come home 1/2 stone heavier, looks like that's what most people put on though. We ate every night (except one) in the Seven Seas, the kids menu had execellent choices, and the adults choices were excellentand filling. We used the Lido for one night (italian) and thought the food there was also good. I know there has been previous complaints that you can't see the food but that was only due to the fact the glass in front was sometimes a little condensated. but normally you could see the food (if not you could always see what over people had on there plates). Breakfast on the Lido was excellentwith a great choice from continental to full english.

Staff.
All the staff on body seemed to enjoy their work so a good level of service was offered throughout the cruise.

OnBoard Entertainment.
EXCELLENT. All the shows in the Can Can lounge were superb all the show team were of an excellent standard and most of them would do well in Pop Idol or X Factor. Our favourite was Laura. The other on board entertainment was also great fun We particularly liked 15-1 on the pool deck with a great soaking for all. The Oklahoma lounge entertainment was also very good. Was very lucky and was able to do a tour of the bridge, we got to spend about 1/2 hour there was the running of the ship was explained to us by Gavin.

Overall.
Normally 5 days into a holiday I'm normally ready to come home, not this time though we were wishing we could do another week. would we do it again? YES, would we cruise on the Destiny again? YES.

The cruise bug has bitten us so we are already looking at next years itinaries.

We know the ship is going to Greece for a major refit but not too sure what's being done although heard romours that the cabin size was being increased and that new engines were being fitted.

Although we had cruised before 4 of our party hadn't. What an absolutely fabulous family holiday this was and our four guests had a ‘wonderful’ time. Some of the party were active, some of us weren't and the kids aged 6, 12 & 13, did exactly what they wanted to do (courtesy of Thompson), without much intervention from the adults.

It was totally relaxing holiday and of course the feeling of the children being totally safe offered a lot of comfort. The staff were fantastic, always cheerful and helpful and the onboard shows were quite original and amazing. I must add that we are not a pushover, we enjoy being entertained and were not disappointed by the five star entertainment offered on board. Sailing away from port dancing and enjoying yourself night after night, we can promise you it doesn’t get boring.

Thanks Thompson we will be returning - Soooon we hope.

We have just returned from a trip on the Thompsons Destiny ship. We will never travel with Thompson again. The standard of accommodation is very poor, the cabins are small not well ventilated with walls made of very thin material. You can hear EVERYTHING through the walls. The food is basic English meat and vegetables floating in gravy on a Mediterainain Cruise???. The food in the Lido cafe is worse that bad school dinners. All served in a rushed frenzyed atmosphere. All staff with the exception of the front desk staff are very friendly and polite. All work extreamly long hours for little reward. Never ever take any of the excursions they costs a packet and are not worh it. For an example you can take the train to Firenze or Rome for 6 euro and 9 euro respectfully. They charge £30.00 and £90.00 plus for coach excursions.Never again such a low base. They even charge you for the safety deposit box key??

ship cleanliness. bearing in mind this is an old ship it is spotlessly clean with cleaning going on all the time. the basic cabin is ok for 2 people we had every thing hung up or in drawers what more do you need, the shower worked fine, so no problem, we use our cabin to shower and change and sleep why would i need a ballroom size cabin.i agree the walls are thin but every morning i was in hysterics listening to the guy in the next cabin moaning he didnt want to get up coz he had only just gone to bed. but maybe not nice to hear everything.our cabin girl, galina was an absolute treasure, we had 2 cabins opposite , my niece and infant and friend were in 1 imagine world war 3 when they went out in the evening, came back to lovely tidy cabin with teddies all layed out nicely and even a chocolate in the little ones cot.galina always came to play with the little 1 to when we were getting ready to go out a treasure.
food. seven seas fantastic 6 course meal with 1st class service from our 2 waiters thomas and sammy, the head waiter and restuarant manager also came to check each night if everything was ok, we ... 7 of us never had 1 thing we could fault with the it. the lido is ok for snacks etc we found it alot better this time than when we were on in may. the food wa hotter and service brilliant not rushed or anything and the waiters would again play with the little 1 if they were having a quite time in there.
staff... well what can i say 1 word i think. AMAZING, i have never been so well looked after by such a friendly bunch of people. if you dont ask for something thats not there or tell them when somethings not right how are they suppose to make it right for you, they will go out of there way if they know about it.
entertainment... i have to admit to being a bit biased on this , but take away the person in question and it still leaves you with fabulous shows, games, quizzes, activities, piano bar, resident band and a brilliant cruise director and assistant cruise director. the shows are twice a night and they clear the room out after 1st 1 to make room for second sitting and as other reviews say you do have to be there in good time.

would i sail on this ship again... a definate YES. WISH I WAS ON IT NOW
