From leaving Palma airport we were on the Destiny within 2 hours, pictures, credit cards etc all sorted, and we where shown to our cabin. Yes it was small but we knew that before we went on. Over the week though it was cleaned twice a day, beds turned down, animals made from towels and on one occasion a pair of legs sticking out from under the bottom bed - which gave us not only a shock but a laugh. so it was almost a pleasure to come back to the cabin and we had 4 people sharing it!
The ship was continously being cleaned or painted and on some occasions being varnished, though this never impacted on us as it was mostly done late evening or early morning. The food was brilliant - in the Seven Seas you don't get large portions but then you don't need to as there are 5 courses to get through, and should you feel hungry you can always go up to the Lido and help yourself to yet more food! The afternoon teas where wonderful though you do feel guilty eating it and then as we where 1st sitting having your Dinner 2 hrs later!. At dinner we were sat with another family, who made the evening very enjoyable - so much so we would sit with each other at the shows in the Can Can and Oklahoma Lounge.
The shows were of a very high standard and very enjoyable. And on many occasions we actually forgot we where at sea. The staff from cabin crew to waiters worked tirelessly, always checking if you needed more drink, removing dirty plates/glasses and just being happy. Even remembering your name and saying hello.
The excursions - some where on the expensive side, though we did use one to Casablanca and was very pleased when we realised that Children (upto 16yrs) go Half price - quite a bit of saving there. We picked up a minibus on the quay side in Gibralta which for the 4 of us was £80 but that included entrance to the caves, tunnels and the nature reserve to see the apes (we even had one on our shoulders, with the aid of our driver tempting them with nuts). At the other ports we did our own thing - Valencia they laid on a shuttle bus at no charge which dropped you off in the middle by the train station and picked you up there when you where ready to leave.
We had one bad night at sea which Thomson can't be blamed for. But the shows did go on, though I for one had to find my bed to lie down as feeling quite see sick (it was almost 12 midnight and we did have to be out of our cabin by 8.30am the next morning, our last day) so maybe that wasn't such a bad thing!
We decided not to go all inclusive and we were very glad we didn't as our final bill(incl. excursion to Casablanca £90) it came to just on £400 and we drank what we wanted, when we wanted - even cocktails. Had we gone AI it would have been approx £460.
Would we go again - yes, though the bad night at sea is not one I would like to do again.
